My wife and I had booked with Expedia multiple times. This time we decided to book our entire honey moon through them. This included a round trip from Halifax to Barcelona, two hotels, and a cruise.
- First, we received an email stating that our departure flight have been changed so need to call Expedia back immediately to rebook. We understand this was no fault of Expedia. However, in order to do this we were on and off hold for a duration of 2+ hours.
- Second, we looked at our confirmation of our new flight the next day (because we were on the phone until midnight the previous day) and realized they had dropped our flight from Halifax and had us leaving Montreal AND also changed our return flight (no one ever mentioned this would be changed) - they shorted us an entire day… the same day we are now supposed to leave, Expedia knows we are coming off a cruise that day as well as have a hotel booked through them for that night. We call back and again, on and off hold for over 3+ hours this time. No one could figure it out so had to get a call back on Monday. Monday comes and goes and still received no call back from Expedia. So we call back and AGAIN, on and off hold for 3 hours. They gave us new flight and we are ready for departure… so we thought.
- Third, we received a phone call from the Halifax airport saying our ticket was not issued but our seat is saved. All we need to do is call Expedia and they will issue us our tickets… so once again, call Expedia. Expedia admitted that it was a coworkers fault for not issuing our departure tickets and only issuing our return ticket. But wants us to buy new flight tickets and then call them back so they can process a refund for the departure flight!! I have an issue with this. This is not a fault of mine or my Wife’s. Expedia is admitting to their fault and not wanting to rebook for us. Wants us to spend more money for flights and refund our cheaper tickets (you get cheaper tickets when booking flight and hotel combination - we wouldn’t get this same deal). Anyway we are currently on the phone, on and off hold for 4 hours and counting.
We find it crazy that none of these issues were our fault and they still want us to pay more. We have received no compensation for our trouble… not even checked bag credits (which we asked for - the least they could do)!! We have spend a total of over 12 hours…. And counting on the phone with Expedia in the last three weeks. INSANITY!!!
We will never book through Expedia again.
I had booked a reservation with Expedia with Hotel Newstar Montreal on June 15 for June 20 th to June 23 . I wanted to cancel the above reservation because I found a hotel closer to downtown Montreal and I booked with Expedia on June 17 for the same dates Best western Plus Montreal Downtown-Hotel Europa . I first called the hotel Newstar to cancel and they told me I had to do it with Expedia . I then downloaded the App and spoke with a virtual person “Mohamed “. He said that I would have to pay approximately $170.00 to cancel ! I informed him that I have free cancellation until June 19 at 6:00 PM . Then he couldn’t get hold of the Newstar and told me it would take 72 hrs before he got back to me . Then today I received an email from Hotel Newstar that they were expecting me June 20th . I called them this morning and spoke with the front desk and informed them that I cancelled my stay with them and she would inform the manager ….. I can not believe the hassle and stress this has caused . I called Visa and informed them of what has transpired .
Sincerely,
Carmelo Reitano
Tried get a hotel !!! Ripped off 480 dollars by scam and Expedia would not refund my money ! Using their site 30 mins time frame booking !!! Was misleading information , asking for a lot of more personal information and security at condo had no idea all over phone and very shady !!! Said security be welcoming had no idea who I was and laughing seeming like it’s happened before there !!! Scammed 480 dollars !!! On chat for over 2 hours and in and out of the condo trying to resolve issue and talking contact who had post made and hung up and told me take it up with Expedia… letting people get ripped off hard earned money !!! Don’t use ruined my night !! Drove 2 hours up there and back waisted gas - time and stressful situation , nightmare for something simple … this site should be shut down for letting people get treated like this !!! Very unprofessional
We were early, & went to desk about a place around area to eat. She checked to see if room was ready & it was! We took our suitcase upstairs & just took a bit to search for somewhere to eat near Commonwealth Stadium. The room was clean. It was a suite room & was great! Now I’d be fibbing if I said the Hotel didn’t need some upgrades, because it does. Shower pans are rusting, areas are worn, but what was there was clean. Breakfast was awesome! Our waitress was fantastic! I have celiac’s disease & as soon as I mentioned it, she told me what I could order. She was spot on. I had no issues. I’d stay there again…in an instant.
Very easy to use, but when I checked on a reservation, it showed that it was cancelled. I talked to their support. They’re very friendly. They mentioned that I cancelled the reservation, which I never did.
No cancellation email was sent and their explanation was it was a glitch. This has happened twice in 3 years
I believe it might’ve been the hotel that cancelled it. If this is a glitch, it needs to be addressed immediately so that no one else has this happen to them as well
Regardless, great app and service! But that issue puts it at 3 stars
I find it that with all these websites for flights we’re travelling and there’s enough anxiety and stress over that when you go to book and find out that it’s nonrefundable or that if the flight gets cancelled then it’s up to you to figure out how to get your money back and get your connections and so on and so forth I really refrain from trying to use these websites because they find it they become very confusing and very tiring
Not what it used to be. Thought I was booking a hotel room at a world famous hotel brand. Then the confirmation came through as a VRBO room, complete with heavy cancellation terms, and neither the Hotel or Expedia will take any responsibility for your booking. If I wanted that kind of room, I would shop VRBO or AirBNB. Make sure you look closely at what you are getting and the associated terms. Things have changed!
I had my reservation at holiday inn confirmed with breakfast, however the frontdesk did not recognize that and insisted that my reservation doesn’t include that, although i showed him expedia itinerary and all their communication . I called expedia agent and spent 30 min, again they confirmed my reservation but they claim that they couldn’t reach the hotel! Very disappointed from such service!
I’ve always ordered on Expedia because thought they were dependable. Also since I travel a lot I know what to expect. However had a harrowing experience with Expedia losing a connecting flight and writing email showing full itinerary.
Error discovered last minute and had to buy my own connection since Expedia did nothing to mitigate. So advising not to use Expedia
I am getting a lot of crashes for no apparent reason. Sometimes on launch.
More often than not it just opens a webview that is super slow and hard to navigate.
Their booking system has changed and it’s become more and more difficult to book. Some packages and cruises you can’t even book online and often have to call them which is just stupid.
