Lots of room for improvement
Androuman on 2022-11-28
I’m surprised to see so many good reviews for this app. Of course it does a good job at bringing google docs to the ipad with its basic functionality, but I find it very frustrating to use the app in the way that I use docs on browser - it seems I’m always running into bugs and little frustrations. One example, when I try double clicking on a word and then dragging to select, the app always thinks I want to move that word. Hoping that as the. app develops it will become more like the browser version. Also when I’m using the browser on my ipad it frustrates me to be constantly asked to use the app - let me opt out.
Missing Key Features
Red_Is_Dead on 2022-11-28
My main issue is that it’s missing key features that are available on desktop. As other reviews have stated, the app is not properly adapted to Ipad to be used with a keyboard and mouse. Why is inserting equations not possible? Why can’t I have more control over page setup? What about headers and footers? Why is the fill line alignment missing? Regardless of wether you use it on your phone on the go or an iPad with keyboard and mouse many of these features could easily be implemented. This is brutal for students who are force to use the Google suite by their institution. PLEASE INCREASE THE FEATURE SET.
Not optimized for Apple products… at all

Not only can you not edit a single thing in a browser without being forced to download the Docs app, when you download it, it sends you in circles redirecting to the App Store to download… even though you’ve already downloaded the app. If you manage to actually open the doc you need to edit, good luck seeing where you’re typing or what you’re doing. I wish these companies would actually work together instead of making their products barely functional on each other’s platforms. Am I going to run out and buy a Pixel phone now? Am I going to use only Apple word editing docs? No. Screw you both.
Why missing functions?

I don’t understand why the app lacks the ability to do things like: -superscript/subscript text -add page numbers to headings -special indents (especially hanging indents) These are just things off the top of my head. Obviously it may not seem like such a big deal to most people, but as a student that frequently writes papers and academic essays it is quite frustrating to not be able to do these things on my iPad. I really don’t see why you can do it on desktop but not on the app, would definitely save a lot more time. I’ve searched for solutions online but none
Why is it even like this

You can only view documents on the web version and not edit them. There is no dyslexia font and dyslexia readers don’t work with it (neither do dark mode readers on computer) there is no option to import fonts, and the image imported works about as well as you’d expect. For one of the most well known company’s in the world, I’m disappointed.
Love it!

I’m a writer and poet so this is actually the best thing ever! I don’t always have access to a computer so this is extremely helpful!
Amazing!

I love it! I can write stories on the docs, write an essay, and just use it for fun!
