Dying on the vine
JayPizzl on 2020-08-06
MyFitnessPal is stuffed to the brim with ads and features no one asked for, it crashes often, is annoyingly slow to load, has truckloads of false nutrition info, and its search function is laughable. Just now, I searched for “potato chips” and exactly zero of the top 25 hits are potato chips. There’s no way to even enter calories or any other nutrient information, either. You are forced to deal with the terrible search and database packed with incorrect entries. Entering new foods is a giant hassle and doesn’t even allow you to enter important details. Basic things like showing a weight chart have been broken for years. It’s obvious that the owners are just milking the user base for profit - I doubt they have any competent developers left at all anymore. If this shambling mess was sold to a new owner who cared about innovation or quality, it has the kernel of a good app left that could be saved. It has some useful features and though packed with wrong information, the database is enormous. It crashes a bunch but does eventually still work. MyFitnessPal is dying, but it’s not quite dead yet.
My biggest issue is not enough
klt3018 on 2020-08-06
My biggest issue was not meal planning, and making sure I eat enough. So my calories were always crammed into end of day and more than I should have been eating. My fitness-pal helps me plan my meals so that I eat throughout the day. I actually find it hard to consume all my calories, when you i the time to plan and know each meal, and am conscious of my choices, I find I have more than enough food. It really is only an extra 15 or so minutes out of my day. I make my lunch and snacks in the morning and have with me throughout day. I also ensure that I eat a good breakfast. It really does set you up for success, and you eat what you want... but you learn to choose wisely. I live this app.
Be aware of the “retire” and “improvement” ruining your experience!!
kelbetz on 2020-08-06
Was a good app. They seem to like to “retire” favourite features (maybe to make you “go premium”..??) A little aside one of the recent updates seemed okay until every time I go to update weight or the unit number for food it now sets the cursor behind the already current number so if you want say 2 bananas because 1 was the count you’d get 12 unless you back over the 1... seems like a little thing but an extra step when you’re used to the selection being “pre-highlighted” so you just have to type in your entry. Under stop fixing what isn’t broke... or it’s not an “upgrade” or “improvement” Ps just because the barcode scanner is there DOESN’T mean it works.

I downloaded this app a LOOOOONG time ago and it was free. Suddenly i cant add any more recipes, then i cant log the workout routines, and now with the new upgrade i cant even watch the routines ( which i was entering manually in my exercise) Nike offers their app for free.... im really disappointed that now i have to pay to get the same service i had for free that I’ve been using loyally forever! At least leave what was free , free , and add cool stuff that wasnt already available that justifies the cost of getting the premium! Its like dangling a carrot in front of a horse!
“Retire” it before you try it!!
kelbetz on 2020-08-06
Was a great app but they keep “improving” it by “retiring” all the best and most useful features, basically any other calorie counter app like Lose It is now superior as you can’t check location restaurants and they’re removing the barcode scanner so now you have to waste time typing and still “guess” which result “might” be right for what you’re about to eat. Save a headache with their planned obsolescence and just go somewhere else... I’m “retiring” this waste of space app today!!!
Premium Waste of Money
Purplenorth on 2020-08-06
It’s an okay app, shows you how many calories you eat in a day, but there is no way to input how many calories burned in a day, only if you do cardio but not strength training. I wish I would have known that before I waste my money on Premium. What’s the point in it if you can’t even minus calories burned? It’s not exactly accurate then and not everyone just does cardio. I took a break from this app and came back and it’s so confusing now.
Good but glitchy
AngelOfAirwaves on 2020-08-06
When altering things the app is glitchy but not all the time. I changed my weight, goal, and activity level and it gave me a certain calorie limit and then when I changed it back it gave me way more calories than I was eating in the first place. However, I’ve lost over 40 pounds with this app. Overall, a solid app and a lot better than the other free weight loss apps. Hopefully, the glitch is worked out.
A little trouble with the app
Racer 300 on 2020-08-06
Okay app, it should have a tutorial. For some reason I am not allowed to create and add my own meals. It will not save it, therefore it makes it a very inaccurate guide. The app has a lot of problems when it comes to saving meals. Customer service PLEASE help.
Great app
Garry7897 on 2020-08-06
Great app but I would give four star because there should be more more content for heavy workout .... for those who want to build up muscles and for those who want fat loss, this app is more leaned to just weight loss... which I find troubling
Update made it not open
Cat_White on 2020-08-06
I’ve used this for several years off and on, I just recently bought the premium version. I updated it yesterday and now the app won’t open, just crashes. Even restarted my phone and deleted + redownloaded, still not working.
