This app is perfect for new drivers such as myself. Love the alerts that can let you know if there is an accident or other hazard nearby so you can safely avoid them. The only issue I have is the app draining my phone’s battery even when not in use. I had charged my phone fully last night and woke up to only 40% battery remaining and found that Waze was the culprit, using 22 hours of background activity even though I had put Waze in sleep mode and hadn’t launched it in months. I have also turned off the background app refresh on my phone. Please update Waze so it doesn’t run in the background without my permission and drain my phone’s battery for no reason. Once this issue is resolved, I’ll be happy to post a 5 star rating.
This app is awesome, I use it everyday! It’s great for road trips, or every day commutes into a big city. I love this app and tell all my friends and family to download it as well because I think it’s the most reliable navigation app and it always finds the quickest route. The only suggestion I have for the developers is to make it compatible to download on an Apple Watch, because the Apple Watch has google maps downloaded and it gives you the directions on the watch as you drive which is very helpful. I would love to have the same experience with the Waze app as well!
For the last 2 months, Waze takes over my volume levels in CarPlay. The moment I turn on Waze, you can hear the volume drop from where I normally keep it around Levels 20-25 and changes to the system volume which maxes out at Level 11. I then have to unplug my phone and plug it back in. I usually have to do this 3-4 times a day every day.
I uninstalled the app for a week, used Google Maps and Apple Maps and it never did it once. After iOS 14 was released, I redownloaded Waze and here we are with the same problem!!!!
So fed up!!!!!
PleaseAdd a feature so that Waze will only take you on roots where you can turn left if there is a traffic light. During rush hour, Waze thinks that you can turn left but you actually can’t and you have to wait for several extra minutes for a space to turn left on busy streets. Also sometimes it takes you on a street where there is a light just one North and one S. and it’s much safer and much easier to travel. There are times when I don’t use Waze at all because it doesn’t help you during rush hour.
I’ve had this app for years and used to love it. I haven’t been using it at all over the last few months in quarantine but for some reason it still runs in the background 5-15 hours per day and uses 30-60% of my battery. Location turned off, calendar, Bluetooth, microphone, etc (basically all app permissions) and it still runs. Contacted Waze and they told me to make sure I turn the app off by double clicking and swiping up. Hmm...I’m not new to this Waze!
Updated because old version cannot run on ios14, but the app running background consistently, even disabled background refresh and killed from app stacks....
Check battery usage waze drained battery every single minutes until I remove it from my phone, so disappointed that I kept this amazing app for more than 3 years, before google acquired the company! WTH!
Hi, please patch the CarPlay issue. When waze is installed on my phone, I am unable to adjust the media volume via physical volume toggles; as adjusting the volume only adjusts the “Guidance Volume” as opposed to the music volume which is playing. Uninstalling resolved this issue. Please fix as I love waze but cannot use the app with this glitch.
This app was awesome until the last update. Now it sends me the complete wrong direction from where I need to go. Telling me to the. Right when I should be turning left. Took me way out of my way multiple times now. If you can’t fix it I’ll have to find a new app. Don’t know what you did but you need to fix it. And the battery drain as well.
I don’t know what the new “Hey Google” update has introduced, but my iPhone 11 dies overnight from 100% activity from Waze for “Audio, Background Activity”. I’m disabling all forms of background app usage for Waze until I figure out what the heck is going on. This is super creepy and I eventually might just delete the app.
This app did not offer secondary highway information. I was trying to get across from Cambridge to Burlington and it recommended that I go up towards Toronto and then backtrack rather than cut across on a secondary road. It was quite frustrating to work with. Fortunately, I had a map and I went old school.
