Beyond a joke now! We pay good money for this c/@p!
racy31 on 2020-11-27
Since late IOS 12 and now the 13 updates, the app fails to connect to the device. Usual directions to online help forums doesn’t solve the issue as you’ll see by the countless comments on there. Occasional and temporary success is achieved by resetting everything but it only lasts as long as you’re in the app then it forgets the device and you’re starting from scratch again. For the money you pay for the device, the software should be spot on every time. Not so Garmin! This problem has been a recurring feature in your online help forum for months. Having to connect via the laptop to update my activity data is becoming tiresome . Update: App constantly requires me to sign in and set up from scratch every time I open it. Again, all the helpful steps and on the website fail to resolve this issue. Come on Garmin! I’m getting thredders with this pile of poo. The fortune I spent upgrading to the Tactix Delta was literally pointless given the fact that it can no longer connect to the app. Despite all the “fixes” and self-help suggestions from forums and the useless Garmin site. At these premium prices for hardware, Garmin should be providing reliable (and secure) software to match. Sadly they seem to be unable to do either.
Sleep tracking
paulillman on 2020-11-27
I have a Forerunner 235 and find this an excellent watch, particularly the heart monitor. Sleep tracking is of late disappointing. Wildly inaccurate in terms of when I actually go to sleep so that daily adjustment is necessary. I suspect that despite the watch having a heart monitor this is not linked to the sleep monitor algorithm as that would surely help accurately calculate the sleep actions. Otherwise a good app and watch. 24/7/20 Server down for maintenance. Fair enough but this irritating app can’t work without the sever connection. Can’t enter weight, can’t see my run data. Hopeless, for heaven sake, allow the app to store locally and sync when connection available. What happens to the people without always on internet? 6/11/20 Now it is not recording intensity units. One day major undercount then later in the week no points awarded for a walk that normally gives 45/55 points. Very frustrating. Too many updates here clearly slipping in bugs. Hopefully this will get corrected.
Live in the UK or Europe - make sure you read!
SS333 on 2020-11-27
Garmin Connect is a fine program but Garmin themselves have set up a very poor system with Garmin Pay. Whilst it may be well supported in the USA, in the UK and Europe it is not. Whilst I can live with that, what is frustrating is the fact that Garmin Connect keeps reminding you to finish setting up your Garmin watches by adding Garmin Pay BUT as none of the mainstream UK banks are supported, you cannot go any further! You should be able to easily turn this off and it is a major oversight in the app. As for Garmin pay, as Apple Pay is so good, don’t offer a service unless it is equal or better than those in the market. Garmin, sign up Barclays, Nat West, HSBC, etc so that UK users can actually use a feature you make such a big deal about!
A sync / connection nightmare
hyungai on 2020-11-27
I’ve just returned to a garmin watch after a year with an Apple Watch. I don’t know what’s been going on but reading garmin reviews & forums they’ve got a real problem here with regards syncing. I bought the watch a week ago & I’ve spent that time reinstalling the app resetting the watch ( vivomove style) & followed all the supposed fixes from garmin support & still it fails to connect randomly & fails to sync automatically. I’ll give ur another install try, but I’ll probably be returning the watch for a refund tomorrow. It’s a shame because the watch looks / display is great, but without robust software/ app, it’s not fit for purpose as my local trading standards department state.
I love Garmin and the App but it’s a bit confusing.
NadineOV on 2020-11-27
I love everything the App has in it. However, it’s really confusing and had to navigate. It would also be great if there was a light mode version of the App. When I get frustrated because I can’t find something and have it in dark mode it seems all the more overwhelming. Also it would be great if all stats had benchmark data. Example if my respiration is 12brpm, i’d like to know if that’s good or bad or average. It’s annoying to have to research all my newly discovered stats and data. Honestly, I LOVE my Garmin watch, but having just converted from Fitbit I have to say their App is way easier and digestible.
Well polished app with a couple missing features
Jallllex on 2020-11-27
All in all a very powerful and intuitive app that bolsters the premium nature of their watches. A couple features I’d love to see: 1. import .GPX and other route files directly in the app. At the moment you have to go to the website to import routes, don’t see why it couldn’t be integrated into the app. This would make the route planning experience seamless as I like to use the OS Maps route plotter and export routes directly to my phone’s file system. 2. Widget support. Would love to see a garmin widget for iOS 14. This could display “My Day”, “step count”, “last activity”, “work out calendar” etc.
Latest update as deleted my data
Banjiman on 2020-11-27
Since update to 4.37.0.28 this is no long writing data and is in fact actively deleting data from my Apple Health app. Now going back as far as June. This is preventing Apple Heath writing data onwards to other apps I use frequently like MyFitnessPal and Seven. Support for these issues is not being provided. Until this year Garmin had always seemed stable and reliable. This is sadly no longer the case and I will be thinking long and hard before purchasing any more of their devices. Shame they were amazing once upon a time.
Couple of issues
MrPitstop on 2020-11-27
Garmin make fantastic running gear and this app supports them pretty well. But... 1) I don’t need a pop up message telling me to connect to Bluetooth to sync my watch. I regularly open the app to see my stats and I’m aware that it won’t sync - so treat me like an adult, please. 2) I want to see my current steps streak, not just my longest ever streak for reasons which should be obvious. Please fix these and it’ll be perfect!
Started well but getting slow and clunky
LukeHartMusic on 2020-11-27
Started very nicely using this app with my Vivoactive 4 but I’ve noticed it’s getting clunky, glitching between recognising I have Spotify and Thinking none of the music apps are installed. Furthermore, the routes component of the app is getting annoyingly slow as well. Coupled with the dodgy GPS I’m seeing in my watch, Garmin aren’t hitting all the targets I had hoped for...
Latest version not good
ABr99 on 2020-11-27
Usually 5 * but after latest update a couple of days ago it has problems 1) often fails to connect to device when reopen the app running in the background 2) often just spins when you drill down on something e.g Coach, heat rate, an activity 3) causes the phone battery to drop quickly when in the background. Phone ok as if the app is killed battery life ok
