Glitches & freezes
Poppy_v on 2020-09-25
The app glitches & freezes a lot on iOS. The emails don't load until you refresh the inbox by opening the app. If you have more than 1 email address in the app, you have to manually select each email address to view the inbox, sent, deleted mail boxes attached to the selected email. Rather than having to manually select each individual email address to do so, there should be a way to view all the emails, all sent emails, all the folders attached to each email address. Would be good to have a built in scanner option and option to change font styles. Good thing is the 'unsend' option, but privacy is a huge concern with Google products & services including emails, where it scans your content. I prefer Outlook mailbox, private, no scanning of emails, no glitches, view all emails, folders at once regardless of what email address is selected as the main one, it is very fast, efficient and new emails come in automatically.

NOT RECEIVING IMPORTANT EMAILS
ejaneprice on 2020-09-25
Over the past few weeks of using Gmail I have only been receiving some emails and not other (VERY IMPORTANT) ones. Because of this I have lost 2 weeks worth of paid work and my university accommodation offer. I now have no halls of residence to go to, and am going to have to pay more money than I can afford for accommodation that I don’t want. None of the missing emails were found in my spam or trash folder. The idea of Gmail is to communicate EASILY with others - this has not been the case. I have had a nightmare of a week because of this unnecessary issue caused by your service. I feel robbed of money and personally feel as though the owners of Gmail now owe me the hundreds (if not thousands) of pounds that I have lost - and am going to lose over the next year. Not happy.
Nonsense

In a world run by machines it’s no surprise you won’t get any human help in regards to the horrendous issues surrounding this app/service. No contact number. No live chat and in regards to “emailing” my problem the fact I have received no emails in the past 6 or so weeks is a clear indication that there is a major issue. My only question is how is this being resolved and those who have actually suffered as I have what exactly is being done to rectify this. Some people have missed out on important life changing news because of this outage but yet nobody is being helped it seems. This is nonsense and the app isn’t free when it costs you your time and energy trying to use it for what you want and not what they want you to use it for to no success. Stay away!!
Poor experience on iPad
noona23 on 2020-09-25
The app works fine until you want to send an email with an attachment, it only allows you to select an attachment from Google Drive or your photos. Every other app that deals with files allows you to choose from files on your iPad, or any other location, e.g. iCloud Drive or OneDrive, but not GMail. I have to use GMail in the Chrome browser, in order to choose attachments from anywhere, and even then it only shows the mobile site, it doesn’t support the full desktop site! I tried Gmail in Safari, but the drop down to choose which address to send from does not work, and I need that functionality too. Come on Google, sort it out!
Reply problems
Oldcoger on 2020-09-25
I like the app but the reply mechanism has several bugs/shortcomings. 1. The reply does not appear in another use of gmail.com on another machine (in my case on Mac OS running Chrome). 2. If I forward a received email and subsequently try to reply to it, the recipient is incorrectly marked as the forwarding address not the originator even though I’ve selected the original email.
App unable to hide Labels
Peedorf on 2020-09-25
Anyone using the mobile app and familiar with “Labels” will know that Labels can’t be hidden for the app as they can be for the desktop version. This is a glaring fault as dozens of essential but seldom used Labels clog up the screen aesthetics and layout in the app rendering it user unfriendly and needlessly messy. Please enable Labels to be hidden for the app.
NO PRIVACY.
leeks1x on 2020-09-25
I have a few accounts on my phone and for some reason they’ve all been linked? I’ve tried for about over an hour exploring all settings to unlink these but whenever one gets an email it shows up in all. How embarrassing. I have absolutely no privacy at all. Fix this or i will delete all of my accounts and encourage my friends to do so.
Filter required
zashOrion on 2020-09-25
I’am sent endless emails from Facebook, insta, and lots of shopping sites so when I search for an email using the search thing, the promotion crap gets in the way and I can’t find anything. It’s literally thousands of promotional nonesense that’s clogging up my emails. Please add a feauture so we can add filters to our searches
App icon notification annoying
Chris, Leeds on 2020-09-25
Functionality of this app is brilliant, but the on screen app icon constantly shows the incorrect amount of new emails. Very frustrating.. if the on screen icon says there are 35 new emails, you would expect there to be just that when opening the app but even if I delete every email it still tells me there’s new emails.
