One huge fail
kayperbeats on 2020-04-02
Love this app generally. I don’t use it in my personal life, but use it for work. And more and more, I like the app and want to see features from Outlook in my other email apps. BUT... Microsoft has failed at something so major, I can’t actually believe it and this should stop you from using it until it’s fixed. When I turn off notifications, I still get them... and get sounds when I do things like press send. When my volume is turned down to zero, Outlook STILL plays sounds... it overrides the settings on my iPad. When I turn on Do Not Disturb, it still disturbs me. This is such a major UX fail, I cannot recommend this app to anyone. If my professional email software makes noises when I’ve turned off sound, it impacts me negatively when I’m working.
Don’t download before Microsoft fix the Draft/Sent email issue
Salis12 on 2020-04-02
- since the last few updates, when I send an email, it says it is sent, but it actually stays in the Drafts folder, so one doesn’t even realise that the email was not sent! This is a critical issue and has to be resolved asap - when scrolling through an email, it would be helpful if bottom bars (reply) disappear, so entire screen can be used to read email - in landscape mode, would be helpful if email is displayed on entire width of screen, not sure why it is only displayed on a part of the screen, and zooming is still constrained to that small area
Desperately needs an ‘add to safe senders’ button
kuma_no_ko on 2020-04-02
I have tried reporting it but obviously Microsoft aren’t interested, which is fair enough, but I don’t how much longer I can tolerate the obvious flaws of this app. SPAM/JUNK: the app routinely puts my important emails into my junk folder even when I have added the sender to the safe list. There is no button in the app that allows you to mark the sender as safe so you have to go to the web version to do it. It’s such an easy addition I really don’t know why they don’t care about it.
Fix urgently needed!
Rokkster on 2020-04-02
Don’t get me wrong - I love this app. It has got better and better until a couple months ago users started to notice an issue with Gmail accounts where even though mail was sent it was showing in our drafts folder. Not knowing if you actually sent that crucial email is not a nice feeling! Hundreds of users have reported this and been told MS are aware but it’s not apparently high on their priority list. Until this gets fixed and you use it for Gmail accounts I would use something else!
Could be so great
StillSpecial on 2020-04-02
I gave it three down to one is. But it’s an issue that really frustrates me. I will have read an email or multiple emails, deleted them, put them in folders etc. However, when I come out the app I still have the red notification with the number of emails in it. I go back into the app and the emails I’ve read and tidied away are sitting there unread again. I’ve tried restarting my phone, deleting and then reinstalling the app....nowt works! It’s so aggravating and frustrating x
Recipient & Folder Options
Grand Poombah on 2020-04-02
MUST: When creating a new email the recipient fields show find email addresses from my contacts so when I type an address it finds it (or the directory search option searches contacts, we do not use the GAL). MUST: Really need the ability to create, rename, delete and move email folders when used with Office 365 Business email services, please! Also, URLs do not always open correctly in Chrome (when selected), this has been reported and confirmed as an issue...
Almost great
jacobvollrath on 2020-04-02
The app is smooth, fast and easy to use. I have used the outlook app for 6 months now. It looks great, but it has two big problems. 1) you cannot put categories on emails or calendar events. For power users this is terrible. Categories work kind of like gmail labels. There is no excuse for not supporting them. 2) the search function is okay, but it is no where near as good as on, and it is rather slow with search results.
I’m surprised at the high rating
Didzzz on 2020-04-02
It’s not a terrible app, but has one major flaw. I work on my iPad and constantly use multitasking. When I’m going between 4 or more apps, obviously I can keep 2 in split screen and slide-over a third app. The problem is that if I don’t keep one of those apps as Outlook, if I go to another app, then back to Outlook, the app has restarted. Why can’t it stay on the email it was on, 5 or so seconds ago?? Incredibly frustrating.
Search function and shared calendars don’t work!
Bigjim5 on 2020-04-02
I’ve been using this app for over a year now and I cannot gain access to the shared calendar at my place of work. So to get round this is still use the old OWA app as the calendar works fine!!! As for searching for emails, this app bring app about a dozen and then hangs and does nothing! The way around this is to use apples mail account for searching as this is faultless! Come on Microsoft sort these niggles out please!!
Massive bug introduced in latest version
Shastongirl on 2020-04-02
I got the incredibly annoying All done for the day image and couldn’t get my emails back so reinstalled and added an account. Emails show ok. Turn off focussed and threading from Settings. Back to the All Done for the Day image and no access to settings. Close and restart Outlook. Now stuck forever in please Wait while we download your messages with no access to anything else. So much for testing before updating.
