Great automation need more for supplements though
brdyigv on 2021-06-14
Lots of things I like about the app. The bar code scanning I love, that it integrates well with the Health app on my iPhone is great too . Easy to keep track of what it does track. A couple of things I’d add are: A place to enter the supplements I take daily. I’m guessing most of us take things like vitamin D3 etc. Nowhere to record this. And some supplements affect the values in the daily diary charts but I have to remember to consider those when looking at the diary values. A way to put more than one time on snacks. At present it accepts only one time stamp so if I have a banana mid morning and an Apple mid afternoon I can’t express or record that detail. Some helpful warnings about low values would be good. I ’ve discovered there are some things that are low in my diet. Salt, which is great, colesterol the same. But iron is low too. Is that a problem? Some helpful guidance there would be good. Even just a warning colour on the chart. Overall though it’s pretty good.
V21.9.0

Update 22-May-2021 After using it since 2013 and been successful with it, I have been deeply unsatisfied with this App for the last few years. The bloat-ware, slow processing, unexpected freezing during updates requiring shutdown, inaccurate data…etc, but I had simply given up that there wasn’t an alternative BUT I found one! MyNetDiary is slightly different to MyFitnessPal but is close enough in terms of functionality, and importantly for me, it has the nutritional data on the places I visit which MyFitnessPal does not and I had been incorrectly assuming the nutritional and calorific data for years. So MyFitnessPal, thanks for your help. You changed my life in the early years (2013 - around 2017) but since then I have been gradually becoming dissatisfied and unconvinced by what you do and the updates you have made. Tonight, I have deleted the App and moved onto something better for me.
What happened?
fifalostallmyprogress on 2021-06-14
I used to love my fitness pal. It was fantastic for tracking calories and was the go to app for anything food / exercise related. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to log in. I’ve been logged out and I’ve reset my password and all I get is an error message about connecting to the server. I know the devs will probably come back and ask me to contact them via email. I won’t be doing this - why should I email devs about a common issue which other users have seen? This is a bug? Please fix it. Devs need to realise that consumers would rather download another app for instant convenience rather than waiting for a reply to an email about something that doesn’t work for numerous users. So for now, bye. But if you ever decide to fix your app maybe I’ll come back.
So much room for development
h-j-w-h- on 2021-06-14
Many suggestions to be made for development of this: - Where a meal time totals the calories, if each individual product has been added, it’d be good to see how much that meal provides protein, carbs, fats etc. Instead of individually clicking on each product and adding it up, maybe you can just click ‘Lunch’, for it to show you your total calories, protein etc consumed at lunch time. - When a recipe is made, or maybe isn’t made, but a meal is inputted into a particular meal time. It’d be good to be able to attach photos for future reference. Many recipe books showcase the same recipe, but each one is ever so slightly different, and a photo reference would help differentiate this.
What a mess
ESMU1329 on 2021-06-14
This app is massively confusing with settings all over the place. No way to update your weight settings without losing all your progress and no way to reset your password. There’s no clear instruction set to understand what the app is doing or what it is trying to achieve. Only error messages are given telling you you can’t do something without any clear guidance as to why or what to do to fix the problem. Not worth the overpriced subscription. Oh and the food scanner thinks an egg is a bottle of vodka… seriously!?!
Used find this really useful but increasingly not working well
MitfordN on 2021-06-14
I am finding over the last few mounts of trying to use this that it freezes after I have added one thing and sometimes if I search for something I cannot even add that I he. I find it before it freezes. I had wondered if it was my old phone and or limited memory but I have a new phone and lots of memory space and it is still not working at all well. Incredibly frustrating and spoils the useful features of quickly updating and keeping your eating or food decisions on track throughout the day.
Best app for losing weight.
Turkissh delight on 2021-06-14
This app is by far superior to all other fitness or calorie counting apps. It’s great for logging your food intake by scanning the food packets barcode. I’m now into the habit of weighing most of my meals as well. Some might think it’s obsessive but I’ve lost 3lbs a week by doing so and now finally back to Bodybuilding. I’m also a premium member now as there are discount codes available if you search the net, so like myself, you to can have all the benefits I have.
Confusing and hard to use
BlueScoobie on 2021-06-14
It’s a very confusing app and cluttered, the ads placement and amount make it worse It gets food entries wrong suggesting places not in my country but typically America like dennies. They should localize food inputs as none of these places are in Thailand or uk It could be made so much simpler and easier to use it’s several clicks to do anything. Like update weight or add food. Best bit is scan food I like that it’s good and anything else just messy.
How disappointing
MadJack Mc Mad on 2021-06-14
I used to use this app. It was brilliant. Easy to use a nice friendly gui. You could scan food and add things in and now I’ve returned to it. It’s all pay for this pay for that it also hasn’t remembered any of my settings or any of my meal plans. Yet another app ruined by greed and the ever present “in app purchases” sh** what happened to just a brilliant little app that was easy to use. Deleting I will not pay to have this ruined!!
Please enable for MacOS Big Sur
Airrrro on 2021-06-14
Hi, I love the app on iPhone but was disappointed to find that MyFitnessPal is not enabled for MacOS native iPhone app usage. It would be incredibly useful to be able to track on my Mac when I am using it. The developers responded to my review - I can use the app fine on iPhone, and I’m aware there’s a website. I wanted to use the iPhone app on Mac as Big Sur has just released native iPhone/iPad app support for Mac.
