Love this app. But...
JAMP0T1 on 2021-05-11
Honestly love this app I use it all the time. I do have some issues using it with Apple car play however. 1. Occasionally it won’t display the map and you have to pull over open the app on your phone, close the app on your phone and reopen it before the map will appear. This is annoying 2. Occasionally the app won’t know where you are, it’ll stay stuck at the location you started at and won’t ever update. Once again pull over, phone out, open app, close app and reopen it again. That’s also fairly annoying. But not nearly as annoying as the fact you don’t have the full report menu in car play. Surely you could make two lines of options or even a swipe across. This app is about helping others and you can’t do effectively that with the limited function on Apple car play. Honestly hoping the devs will see this and say they’re working on expanding the report options within car play because that would make this a 5 star. Hell I’d consider even paying a couple of quid one off for this it’s that important. Either way it’s a great app overall just a couple of niggles and oversights when it comes to Apple car play
The wheels came off!

Dear developers. I think you need to spend more time ensuring your updates are robust before releasing them to the public. The last release three weeks ago has basically made the app useless. To be specific: 1. It regularly crashes. 2. When it is busy crashing my routes start but the re is no visual guidance on screen. 3. The speedometer stops working often and does not warn you of excess speed audio or visual wise. I have tried uninstalling the app, rebooting my iPhone 11 which has 14.5.1 system installed. Then reinstalling and setting the app up from scratch. This does not achieve the desired result of the app actually performing correctly. I have also tried installing on another phone and guess what? Same result. I am sorry to say I am returning the Apple Maps. This app actually does what it says on the tin. I’m glad Waze is free because if I’d had paid for it I’d want a full refund. Sloppy work I won’t put up with and especially so when I use Sat Nav software everyday. I’d love to hear from the development team but having asked for comments and feedback many times before I won’t hold my breath. ☹️
Impressed as a new user but 2 obvious issues ...
ALANPW on 2021-05-11
I was impressed on first use yesterday to see that it connects via Bluetooth to my car speakers. The alerts are very good, even accurately showing a significant pothole on the M25 and a police vehicle ahead. The two issues for me which seem to be longstanding and unresolved are: 1) the Bluetooth audio announcements are truncated at the start, so ‘turn left into Acacia Avenue’ becomes ‘Acacia Avenue’ so you never hear the first words of the announcement somewhat important for a sat cab app! 2) Even if it wasn’t truncated it’s sometimes necessary to have the announcement repeated but there does not appear to be an option to do this. On the first issue I have seen it reported that playing music through Bluetooth whilst using Waze keeps the connection live so the full announcement can be heard. It didn’t work in my case but apparently has for other people. I’m also not sure if you can have the direction of travel pointing to the top of the screen, which is my preference. Will carry on using and may update this if I find any improvements to share.
Let me down + lousy privacy

I’m a delivery driver at the weekends, and I encountered some issues with Waze. The animations were sluggish at times, which made my job harder when driving through residential areas. The biggest issue I ran into though was a sudden and very obtrusive, irrelevant ad that would pop up, that would block my view on where I needed to go. This at times proved to be dangerous. Seriously, an ad when you are driving? That was a red flag, but coupled with the (Google in origin) privacy policy, made the switch to the massively improved Apple Maps all the better. Google led this race, but Apple has caught up. And I NEVER wish to see an ad that I need to physically remove when driving ever again.

Been using this program from beginning. Help them plot the roads. And editing the maps to get them going. But lately idiots have been messing around with the speed limits. First of all a suggested speed limit is not a most not sign. And a end of lorry restrictions is not a National speed limit. You idiots are messing with people life’s and someone’s going to get killed because some morons editing a road from 30mph to 60mph. There must be some right idiots editing this lately. By doing this stupid stunt there messing around with the roots. so stop making up speed limits. Bring back the editor in app so this rubbish can be sorted out again.
Good but could be better.

Waze never lets me down. However a facility to make improvement suggestions would be good. A few suggestions:- The ability to have a speedo on or off but the speed for the road always on. This maybe a difficult one but a vehicle type of Van over 2T. Then the correct speed limit can be shown for that vehicle in National Speed limit areas such as 60mph on a dual carriageway where it’s 70 for cars. ( yes plod caught me because I thought I was in a 70mph zone which I would have been if it was a car). Better lane guidance than those across the top of the screen. Other apps do it! Other than that it’s great.
Location service requests
skdrl on 2021-05-11
Since the let update, requires location services to be turned on randomly on the car play screen. Force closing the app resolves the problem. Carplay display sometimes doesn't show black modal where eta and next turn is displayed. Force closing the app resolves as well. Also, I never have a great experience with the search. Sometimes I had to search exact same term for a couple of times to get a result or sometimes it can't find any result. Apart from these annoying problems(as I'm driving and when these emerge), brilliant app.
Good but glitchy

Love the ‘arrive by’ feature as Google maps lacks this for driving. However, I find the app extremely glitchy, the pinch to zoom feature doesn’t work half the time, planning a route that’s not from my current location is a nightmare, and the way to view routes before setting off is terrible. I’ve also found it’s taken me INTO standstill traffic... when I check Google maps it’s already traffic on it but not Waze which is extremely frustrating. Love the features but too glitchy for me to switch to Waze permanently.
Waze is brilliant

Used to use a different app for directions to drive anywhere, it was never very up to date. Waze always gets you where you want to go, plus it tells you is there is any danger or blockage ahead & quickly redirects you. Waze was recommended by the two geeky lads at work to me as a superior app. As we are ‘old dears’ we didn’t know if we would be happy with it, but we gave it a go & have never looked back. Wherever we go, Waze takes us there. Very happy customer, Thank you.
Not good enough
Creștinul on 2021-05-11
As a navigation app is quite useful and I’m using it almost every day but it fails miserably on updating the road closures especially. For instance a major road in Oxford had works and it was shut for hours and this app still guided me through that road delaying loads of drivers and clogging up the adjacent small streets. Not even warned that there’s road works. And this happens way too often. Flashy graphics would not replace a reliable app!
