Sad they lost music rights
Adam807 on 2021-07-29
I still really like Aaptiv's workouts and trainers and recommend the app, but it's such a bummer that they lost the rights to most of the music, which was their main selling point for years. Whole workouts that were based around particular artists are gone, and others are stripped of their music. For some workouts, like weights, it doesn't matter, and you can choose music by genre or play your own. But for cardio workouts that are beat-based for tempo, the music makes a huge difference, and the trainers' narration doesn't make any sense without the original soundtrack (there's a Spotify option but in my experience it doesn't sync up correctly). You can filter to only see workouts that have a curated playlist, and those are still good, but the selection is small and they seem to only have a total of about 10 (bad) songs. I did try a trial of Apple Fitness+ and I vastly prefer Aaptiv's trainers and workouts, and especially the fact that they offer elliptical workouts. So while this review is 90% complaint, I really do still recommend them! I just hope they can workout the music rights issue and get back to what they were.
Hate the update bring the old app back!
mdsweety86 on 2021-07-29
I really loved the concept of Aaptiv. When I needed a run I just picked a trainer and how long I wanted to run for but now I have to do this extra step of picking the music. The trainers had music picked out in the older app which made me feel like I was attending a workout class. I really liked their selections. Also the title of the workout matched the type of music. I don’t want to waste my time searching for music. Please bring the old version back and give people the option to use their own music if they want but I liked the trainers selection of music.
Fix audio bugs in your app please!

When Aaptiv updated their app to integrate your own music, they failed to allow for adjusting the volume controls for their coach’s voice and music independently. So when I work out using my music in the app, the coach’s voice is BOOMING the entire time while my music is faintly heard in the background. Additionally, when I choose to use their selective playlist, the music cuts out every 30 seconds and I have to stop what I’m doing, hit play again, wash and repeat, til I get frustrated and close the app.
No more curated music
KatGillz on 2021-07-29
I am so disappointed that there is no longer curated music to fit with the workouts. I’ve had this app for 5 years and it’s helped keep me motivated. Now, I just find myself getting annoyed that the music doesn’t match what the instructor is saying, which leads to a lack luster workout. Aaptiv, have some integrity and please listen to all the most recent reviews and figure out a way to bring back curated music. I miss my favorite workout app.
Edit: Much better with curated music playlists
runningKermit on 2021-07-29
This was my favorite workout app when it had curated music playlists. Idk if they had an update, but they did fix the “choose your own music” option to now include an option to play the original playlist through apple music or spotify. I really like the curated playlists. And I would recommend just using those. The other music options aren’t that great and don’t match up with the coaching audio.
Not free, cannot delete the account
GracAttaq on 2021-07-29
The internet told me that this app was free, but it is not. Usually that’s not a problem but there is no way to delete an account from this app. You can cancel your subscription but not remove your name, email, and birthday from their records. Do you’ll be getting their emails forever and I’m worried about getting charged through my iTunes account even though I’m not using the app.
Love this app

This app really keeps me motivated and on top of my workouts. I love how I can plan my weeks. The running workouts are especially motivating. However, there is one thing I wish the app could do. I wish the app could sync with MyFitnessPal or my Garmin Connect. That would streamline all of my health apps which would be very convenient.
Ruined a great app
Mgrabanqqqq on 2021-07-29
I’m heartbroken that they’ve removed the original music from the beat based elliptical workouts. I’m canceling. Update —- I’ve canceled. It’s sad that the app developers don’t listen to all of the angry 1 star reviews. It’s like they built up a customer base sand are now just milking it with cheaper music.
Update a real problem
Sheilaaaaaah on 2021-07-29
I am cancelling. I know the music change in the app was due to lawsuits but this change has changed the original product I paid for. Now it is unmotivating and aggravating to use. I spend lots of time selecting music that doesn’t sync to the workout.
Love this app!

I love this app and used it everyday even with sleep and other workouts.
