I waited for todays update, just in case. A few months ago? Probably would have given 4 stars. It didn’t take long. I just updated the app. and of course, the biggest complaint I have had the past couple months or so is still present. I opened the app, started scrolling and it froze up.There has been times I had to close out and reopen 4-5 times to search through the movies, not to mention a couple times or so to get a movie to play.
Been using the app for years now. Never been this frustrated with it. I say on average, every third or fourth time I open the app, I have issues with it.
My only complaint before was it limits how much you can download, even ones you purchased.
Overall I like the app, just wish it worked as good as it used to. Of course it was nice when Amazon Prime was giving its members more movies without having to subscribe to more channels, but hey, that’s the American way. I originally joined Prime for the shipping benefits anyway.
To earn five stars they would have fix it from freezing up. Let you download at least all purchased videos plus an “x” amount more to view later. Make it easier to stream to a bigger screen. I do understand, but people like me who live alone and not passing the videos off to other people, would be nice to screen to a TV.
Unlike every other app on any of the several Apple TV generations I’ve owned, the prime video app simply doesn’t work on my Apple TV in normal operation. When the app starts, it splashes up the prime logo and that’s as far as It gets. Delete and reinstall, same thing. Wait months for an fix, nothing happens. The only way to use the app is to restart the Apple TV and immediately start prime video. Every. Single. Time. I’m sure it works on some Apple TVs but it appears I am not the only Apple TV user with this problem. To help Amazon with their issue I hereby invite their brightest programmers over to my place to debug the issue and eat popcorn while we look at the logo.
I used to love going on Amazon. But lately it’s infuriating. I don’t want to see sponsored items first or Amazon items first because 99% of the time it isn’t what I want. I don’t like that the app is trying to figure me out. I don’t need to see items related to what I searched. I have fingers I can type it out. I have a voice I can type it out. Don’t even get me started on Alexa. I had a conversation with my husband about religion and next thing I know, Amazon is showing me things related to Jesus. Calm down, Amazon. I got this. I’m a grown up now. I don’t need to be babied. For the love of all things holy just let me browse without trying to figure out what I want.
This is especially frustrating for shows like Jack Ryan in which there is a lot of dialogue in foreign languages and you need to be able to read it. For some reason, these streaming services have not yet grasped the concept of letting us customize subtitles, and they all use black text. Black does not work. The bottom of the screen is usually dark which means the black text is invisible. Either change the text to white or add a border. I literally can’t understand the show which means there’s no point in keeping this service
I’ve never had issues with Netflix & my Chromecast, but Amazon Prime Video frequently has problems. Every time I go to watch something on prime video, I have to troubleshoot why the cast option isn’t coming up: is my iOS version behind? Do I need to update the Amazon Prime Video app? Is there something wrong with my Chromecast?
Content is very good, but due to how frequently I have to troubleshoot inability to cast via Chromecast, I often resort to Netflix instead since I never have this issue with Chromecast/Netflix
It’s a good place to watch movies but only some movies like what’s the point of having Amazon prime video but still having to rent or buy other movies like it doesn’t make any sense. Well that’s how it is for me I’m doing the 30 day free trial to see how it is and if it’s like that I’m canceling my subscription, I might as well just go to Redbox, but if you’re renting it’s only $3.99 which isn’t bad but still I’m paying to watch endless amounts of shows and movies without having to rent or buy them. (Sorry for bad grammar)
It’s good but is flawed. I hate how Amazon pushes movie rentals and crowds out the streaming services I pay for. I have to go to prime video on amazon web site to find amc+ channels. The same goes for starz. I’m really tired of amazon pushing ads in front of the content I’m actually looking for. Are you listening amazon?
I discovered switching the upper right corner to free for me removes all the rent or buy bloat but I still have to plow through
Recommendations to find my channels. Do you read these reviews amazon?
It’s so bad I don’t even know where to start
1. Sound won’t play over Bluetooth because their stupid drm means “airplay is not supported on free episodes”
2. Instead of showing you the tv show you clicked on, it will roll an ad for literally the same tv show
3. Instead of grouping all seasons of one tv show together, it randomly shuffles them in some inscrutable order
This app could not be worse if they tried. Everyone associated with it should be ashamed of themselves
1. Good: Having access to all this content is awesome! Especially when it’s included with prime membership, which also gets you access to many privileges/features on Amazon.com
2. Annoying: Stop showing me movies I don’t have access to for free.
3. Feature Request: Increase brightness and even allow adjust brightness controls. On the IPhone, screen brightness is Max (and very bright with everything else), while prime videos are still low brightness.
4. Thank you!
I like Amazon’s content a lot and it’s great value. However, the UI for the app really needs a lot of work. I mostly watch it on my Apple TV and having to choose who’s watching every time the device comes out of sleep, and especially the X-Ray feature being mistriggered with Apple’s Siri remote, is super annoying. Otherwise it’s okay. My only other gripe would be that it’s frustrating to be watching a series and have certain episodes unavailable.
