I watch stuff with my kids. In fact it is 90% of my usage. The analytics in prime video doesn’t do a very good job at candidating shows for me to watch with my four-year-old daughter.
I don’t like how they don’t clearly separate what’s for sale, and what’s with Amazon prime, and which I’ve already bought. It seems like they’re always trying to sneak some thing to buy in there, and that feels like a slimy used car salesman, or a telemarketer.Their marketing looks a lot like Donald Trump’s fundraising: piles of spam for contemptible results.
The reason I use Amazon is because Apple’s video is slight worse, and Netflix was trying to push “BDSM“ to my 2 and 6 year old. I am still deeply angry at that. My adolescent daughters have no reason in the world to be exposed to that kind of garbage. If she can’t legally consent, those shouldn’t show up in the feed for kids. I’m still angry years later.
Why did you ruin Prime, Amazon?
Millions of people pay for streaming so we don’t have to sit through commercials. And, the content of Prime Video that doesn’t have commercials is extremely limited in comparison to rows and rows of previous content commercial free.
Amazon, now you’re making millions and millions from the commercials in addition to our monthly fee!
Everyone that reads this, write a review to ask to take off the commercials or we will all cancel our memberships. Without all of us millions of subscribers Amazon would not make money as the advertisers would not be seen and they would cancel their ads! Amazon cancel the commercials for Prime Video. We don’t want commercials anywhere in Prime Video, Please!!
Whether you have a prime account or not, now all their “free” content has several ads. If you rewind or stop watching and come back to the show later, you have to watch those ads again. Amazon manages to ruin everything, I cancelled my prime because of the annoying ads and because whenever I am searching for something specific to buy and use the search and/or search filters it’s buried with irrelevant crap I won’t ever buy and have to scroll through 10 pages to find what I wanted. All because Amazon thinks I’ll be tempted to buy the junk sponsored products they throw in my search results because they’d rather I’d make them more money than be anything less than frustrated and wasting my time. Bye Amazon.
I have discovered that Car Play texting and reading texts doesn’t work if Prime Video isn’t fully shut down on my iPhone. Even with the app closed, my home screen still thinks it’s there and shows me a play button. I think I may have to fully shut down my phone to clear it (cached?) before I can drive anywhere. This never happened with Netflix to any degree. And this is after the most recent update from Sept 8/21. Other than this frustrating bug, great app.
UPDATE: Definitely have to power off my phone to clear out Prime Video so I can send and receive texts via Car Play. Prime video also shuts down if I use another audio app via Car Play.
I loathe the way amazon makes you pay for order seasons! You will start watching something, get into it and then they start with entire seasons that need to be paid for! If you offer the first two seasons free and then demand payment for others even after the subscription payment, it shows greed and the willingness to not truly provide a service as advertised. If you are watching another hosting platform they do not try this kind of “trap” and its truly telling….I am both disgusted and disappointed!
(I understand paying for new movies etc but NOT the middle seasons of shows that have already aired years ago!)a
The prime video app is the streaming app I most consistently have problems with when using chromecast. The cast icon disappears all the time. Sometimes I can get it to appear by closing the app/turning my phone on and off/deleting and redownloading the app but sometimes it just never appears so we have to watch something on another platform in order for us to all watch together on the TV. Pretty frustrating if it already took us awhile to agree on something that’s only on amazon or are in the middle of watching a prime tv series. I also wish the organization of seasons within shows was easier to navigate.
Oh my! I don’t understand the language or the traditions, but I have watched these series four times already and I think it’s the best I watched out of all the movies I have.
Thank you for the portrayal of the four boys becoming men with the help of a girl with a strong will.
I wasn’t able to figure out all the real names of the actors, but I was able to find one in “playful kiss”. I plan to search for the others.
Any updates would be helpful.
Thank you again for a beautiful movie.
Now I understand why I can’t get it on dvd. They sold out. By the way I’m in Kentucky in the USA.
The update has changed connection settings, now requiring that the connection go through HDMI. The app is on my 2021 M1 iPad Pro - which has a Thunderbolt / USB-C style connection. Thus, if you want to watch from the iPad via hard connection, you need either a dongle; or a dock with HDMI. And, if you want UHD/4k, you need a 4k HDMII out on your dock. Before the update, my Thunderbolt to my monitor connection was not only good, but it allowed me to see video only on the monitor, with the app on the iPad giving me controls. It was nice. Now, it’s broken. Bad form.
I don't know how this app still has a 4.8 rating.
* Searching for videos is nearly useless, as it returns results for movies that aren't even on the platform. This would be like Google's search results being mostly 404 errors. Why would a video service list videos I cannot watch?
* Subtitles are absolutely useless. They rarely match what is being said, are displayed at the wrong times, don't display anything sometimes, are often delayed, and will then sometimes "catch up" by quickly displaying all the delayed text too rapidly to even read.
Today we are offered so many varieties of “Streaming” and with so many choices, it can be like riding a roller coaster of what to watch and with whom (i.e Hulu, HBO, Paramount+). The list goes on and on and on....and on and on...
But-Prime offers a one Stop Shop by offering a wide variety of everything we watch by category. It also uses an algorithm to track what you watch and keeps the selection right for “you”. Reasonable membership, great movies,
great comedy, great Sitcoms, great series. Just overall great Streaming...as a One Stop Shop.
