"Catan", the legendary strategy game provides gaming fun anytime, anywhere. True to the original game, you can compete with up to four players for the most settlements, the longest roads and the largest army. You can trade with each other and claim the precious land with all its resources. The game allows you to challenge other Catan fans online via cross-platform multiplayer to prove your strategy skills or play against the AI: Various computer opponents, each with their own individual characteristics, will prove themselves worthy competitors: the pirate Jean, who knows no compromise, Vincent the merchant, who never allows himself to be cheated, Sean the knight, who takes what is rightfully his... The popular Catan expansions "Seafarers", "Cities and Knights" and two new special scenarios are available as In-App purchases. The complete Seafarers expansion includes more than 10 additional scenarios with an extensive campaign. Become Harbormaster, discover new islands and extra game elements like ships, gold fields, treasures and pirates. Ahoy! The Cities and Knights expansion introduces various new gameplay mechanics that add even more variety to Catan. Invest new trade goods in city improvements to build one of the three metropolises of Catan – but beware of the barbarians attracted by Catan’s new wealth! You’ll need your best knights to fend them off! C&K contains a short campaign and 7 challenging maps. Exciting adventures await you in the two new scenarios "Enchanted Land" and "The Great Canal". Vanquish dragons and bag their treasures or build a canal to help barren grain fields bloom once more. Features: - Available languages: English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese - Original "Settlers of Catan" rule set - Update 4.0+: Synchronous online multiplayer games - Smart computer opponents with individual strategies - Scrollable game board including zoom option - Freely combinable game settings - Game statistics - Comprehensive tutorial - Seafarers LITE: New scenario "The 4 Islands" and two additional game variants - Cities and Knights LITE: Test the new expansion in the scenario “The first Island” - 3 different graphic sets to choose from ***** Catan FAQ: Question: An expansion seems gone after an update or reinstallation of Catan or after restoring the device? Answer: Don’t worry! Your initial purchase is already saved in your iTunes account. You can restore your InApp purchases by selecting the restore-option in the Catan IAP menu. Question: I lost my campaign progress after reinstalling, updating or restoring my device. Is there any way to restore it? Answer: When saved games can’t be automatically restored, we’ve integrated a cheat code: In the campaign mode go to select player and enter „CatanWarp*“ (* = 1–15) as your player name and confirm. Exit the game via the home button and restart it. The campaign can now be continued from the specified level number (1–15). Levels up to the specified number will be unlocked in the custom game mode as well. Question: Are dice rolls really random? Answer: Of course! All dice rolls are 100% random and not modified in any way. We’re avid Catan players ourselves. We’ve played the iOS version hundreds of times while developing the program. There have been times when we won and lost a few games in a row because of the dice - just like when playing the board game! ***** Questions or suggestions for improvements: Mail to [email protected] We are looking forward to your feedback! The '7' comes up way too many times. As others have pointed out, the computer teams up and just slams you with the Robber. Then they will just trade with each other what they need, and outright repeatedly reject any offers you make (it doesn't matter what you offer...I've tried!). It's infuriating! Sometimes I just stop playing because of it. If you want to just play a one-on-one with a friend online, this isn't possible. The game requires at least one computer player. I don't like that. If you play the board game version, this isn't required. It shouldn't be for this game either. Also there should be a story mode offered with the standard game. I even bought the expansion and was still told I needed to buy more in order to play them. Ridiculous. Finally, you this game should be playable on iMac. I can play it on my iPhone but the screen is small. It's hard to see what's going on in the game sometimes. I know it can be played on an iPad but I don't have one of those. So that would be a good update... Anyway, this game is a mixed bag. I have buyer's remorse and pretty much just play it as I should "get my money's worth out of it" kind of thing.
I want my money back!!!

This is my second review by this app is so horrible. I just quit a game by it was skipping my turn and saying I do not have sufficient resources to buy a dev card or a settlement when I had the cards. So my only option is to pass the roll and then someone rolls a 7 and I lose half the cards it just said that I did not have! Then someone rolled wheat that I had a city on and it showed the two wheat coming my way but they never registered as my wheat. It gave me two dev cards when I bought only one and then I was never able to play either of them! How can such a popular game be so poorly created online? Not user friendly and crashes often. Create a separate league for the common quitters who leave you with the AI to play. How do you get it to stop zooming in on every play! Such a frustrating game to play online. Also, lots of bugs. It would not let me build a settlement for no reason. I had the roads and the cards but it said I didn’t have the cards. Ugh. I had to wait until my next turn to play the same cards.
Robber cannot be moved with out crashing the game!

I am very disappointed! Call me a fool and a glutton for punishment! First I purchased Catan HD, thinking it was the newest and would be the best Catan game. Wrong, as the robber would freeze the game if I put it in the obvious advantageous place for me. Frustrated, I purchased Catan Classic, thinking it would be different. Wrong! It also crashes, where the selection to go ahead with the game disappears when you move the robber to the most advantageous place. You have to cancel out of the game completely, and restart, saying you want to continue... but the same thing will happen if you try to move the robber in the most advantages spot again. Yes, you may be able to move it to a location that doesn’t help you, and still continue the game, but if you are hoping to win, you are at a distinct disadvantage. Unless this flaw is repaired, I definitely do not recommend this game. Today is May 8, 2020. If there is an update after today, you may want to try it. Otherwise, choose another game to download.
Great but...

Have played hundreds of games, generally love this all. But has a weird glitch. I play online with friends, usually one friend and an AI. If we’re playing one of the maps with a gold hex, and the AI builds there, the game freezes when the dice roll the gold hex and the AI has to choose a resource. Not every time but about 1/2. It just ends the game, I can’t figure out how to force it to go forward. If one person leaves the game, it will replace that person with a second AI player and then unfreeze and you can finish with two AI. But if you’re in the middle of a game with a friend it’s super frustrating. This has happened to us at least 4 times just in the last 2 days.
Would be 5 stars if not so buggy

I’m playing on a 2019 iPad mini running iPadOS 13.4.1. This app is annoyingly buggy sometimes. Development/progress cards are sometimes not visible until I close and restart the app. This presents a problem when playing online obviously. Sometimes the app freezes during online play. Other than these bugs (which never get fixed because the devs don’t ever seem to update the software) the interface is good, intuitive, and faithful to the board game. Would be 5/5 if not for the bugs.

Good Mobile Option But Has A Serious Robber Glitch
danieldessinger on 2020-06-01
Every time I select to move the robber, the side button that you touch to take any actions disappears. Every single time. I have to swipe the app closed and restart, then the game gives me my turn again and I have to avoid moving the robber in order to keep playing. So info for several turns at a time with the robber on my land because trying to move him deletes the action button and renders the game unplayable.
It’s not rigged
rnanniechkd on 2020-06-01
But I have found if the dice constantly go against me if I go into the area where you can check the dice roll percentages for the game it honestly shows the inequities and then when you go back to play it rolls my needed number constantly for a while. I think this game has my mother’s sense of fairness. Once I point it out it straightens up. Super fun. If you don’t win, play more, you’ll get better at it.
Do not buy
Groot4221 on 2020-06-01
My family is a huge fan of the game so we all downloaded it so we can play online together. Well, you can play against AI but we can’t get online. When we try it will not recognize our username and password. I have tried to contact them to reset password but have had no response. Once they get their money they are gone! The free app’s available are just as good if not better
The Dice are Rigged!
Darth Revan81 on 2020-06-01
It’s clear the developers use rigged dice rolls to substitute for a poor AI. The higher the difficulty, the more likely the dice are to land on a number favorable to the NPCs. This happens more frequently when you’re winning. The NPC’s will also hang up on you with the robber rather than going after the NPC in the lead. The game is still fun albeit frustrating at times.
