I’ve been monitoring my credit for about three years with this Credit Karma app while trying to buy a home. The scores are consistently inaccurate, typically indicating that my score is higher than it actually is. Last year I was watching my score climb consistently on CK and assured my wife we could FINALLY get our house! Imagine my dismay and her downward spiral when we learned my score had actually DECREASED from the previous credit check! Fast forward to today: CK says my Transunion score is 678. My lender ran my ACTUAL credit with me on the phone and reported that it was only 648. I could understand a couple Of Points margin of error for reporting lag...but THIRTY POINTS?! Come on CK- ya gotta do better than that. This is people’s lives you’re playing with here. UPDATE: 7/24/21- After writing my last review, Credit Karma had neither contacted me to acknowledge the problem or discuss it, nor have they corrected it. Is there a rating less than 1 star?

I was “pre approved” for a personal debt consolidation load with a “95%” chance of approval. Filled out all my personal info, got approved! Filled out more personal information along with bank information to get the funds deposited. They sent me an approval code via txt, I check messages and get the code. Go back to credit karma and it’s back at the home screen. No sign of my loan, no sign of my money. No txt, no email, no phone call, no letter. Just gave me the option that said “you’re pre approved, get started” again.. I already did that, and filled out legal documents binding me to terms and conditions and it’s just gone, everything just disappears ? Just gone. Where did all my personal information go, are you guys just selling it? Where did my money go? Was it all just a scam to get my bank information? I’m in the process of reporting this issue legally, just wanted to give everyone a heads up before you get tricked too!!
Credit card B.S

I applied for a credit card that was on Credit Karma that was “suggested “ for me. I filled out the application online and I got approved. I got the card mailed to me and I went to use it three times and every time I used it, it was declined. I called them and they said that they were unable to identify me so they basically closed it (even though I wasn’t able to even use it). They told me they tried to get ahold of me ( but I never got a call or an email) so I would never be able to apply for that card again. But here we are and they dinged my credit score for something I did not even do.

I really need and enjoy my app to help me through this tough process. But right now I think I don’t really need a new credit card right now until I get my score up to at least 720 or so sometime soon I will need to get a new car and I hope it will not be heard or very costly to me or my husband to do so I’m wondering why it’s taking me so long to get my score up?? Can you explain it to me? Thank you that is my nick Kannapolis

The fluctuations in scores from month to month make no sense. I over 20 points for carrying a little higher balance, which is still under 1% of my available credit and I have 150+ months of on time credit. I paid off a student loan at $46,000 and bout a new car for half if that and I went down again. I am climbing back up again but these large swings can really hurt people. My car insurance rates are based on my credit score!
Not accurate.

I learned today that credit karma is not at all accurate. I went to purchase a car with a loan for the first time and they had to run my credit of course. Turns out my credit is far better than credit karma has been telling me. I’ve been stressed trying to get my credit up for months and micromanaging our credit card only to find out my credit isn’t actually that bad. The app itself is fine but it’s pointless.
Overall great app

I have been using the app for years now and it is just an overall great app except for but one feature and that's the way users are allowed to contact Credit Karma. I think that's the only thing that should be changed by giving users a number to call a customer service representative at the company to resolve issues we might have faster and more efficiently.

Unable to get in touch with anyone when things go wrong with your credit like for example having your credit stolen or having someone run a credit that you did not asked to have run and that you did not know about all this app does it take down your credit to put up your credit it hurts you when it shouldn’t hurt you and it doesn’t verify anything
Backward thinking

I was told that the way to build credit is to use my credit cards and pay them off quickly. Also to keep my usage below 30%. I have done that regularly. I fail to understand why my credit score goes down when I use my credit cards, keep my usage to 10%, and pay them off right away. Makes no sense to me.
Very useful

Since I have added this app to my phone; my financial literacy has advanced so much higher then before I got the app. I’m using the lessons on the app and taking advantage of the spend and save features. I recommend this for anyone trying to stay on top of your credit
