Don’t Make Me Think

I like the app, but why make it so hard to get the info you really need? Open it up, top stories and games going on; cool. Scroll down, see one of my favorite team’s score; ok cool. They won, wonder what the standing are, now that MLB is talking post season? Oh that info isn’t on the score recap page. Ok. Go back to the main page. More top stories, in case I missed it the first time. Scroll down more, see more headlines I don’t care about. Ok now I finally see all the MLB scores. NOW I can click on that, to click on another tab to get the standings. So much work for just that info. Why not list the standing tab in every game recap? It would lessen the headaches...
Somewhat functional I guess.

Good app while in progress, even though it is very slow to load and my internet connection is great. Right now my biggest complaint is that it doesn’t save your place at all. So say you want to switch between shows and the game or fights you have to remember exactly where you we’re at and then fast forward back to your place EVERY TIME you exit your show for anything. If you’re watching live it’s fine but anything else no bookmark feature. Like every other app ever from Spotify to Netflix, prime, YouTube, literally every other service saves your place. Please fix this soon. It’s extremely simple and just feels negligent and lazy
Don’t get Subscription if you use an Antenna!

I purchased a subscription to watch NFL on ESPN. I already purchased ESPN+ but I couldn’t watch Monday Night Football. The app gave me the option to get more sports by subscribing so I did. I still couldn’t watch so I contacted support. I got told I had to have a TV provider. I said I paid because I don’t have a TV Provider. She told me because of no provider I couldn’t watch it! What kind of idiots have a subscription for sports but if you get it you can’t watch it. So ESPN wants you to pay someone else and then you can watch it without paying them! I believe the CEO is an Idiot! Don’t invest in this company!
Please allow for more customization

Constant UFC updates sent as notifications All the latest USWNT info sent as notifications TMZ - style sports gossip sent as notifications. For the love of everything holy, let us opt out of seeing those notifications...let us opt out of seeing WNBA scores on our hope screen on the app or UFC fight results or honestly, anything. Why can we not customize all of this? Editing this to include my frustration with the ads...I pay for ESPN+ so that I don’t have to watch ads online - why can’t this include my mobile? Forcing me to watch an ad after a video is infuriating.
TNT > ESPN

I mainly use this app to watch basketball and I’ve had a number of issues with it. For one, it doesn’t allow me to use my proper log in info if I’m on someone else’s WiFi, and I haven’t been able to see any way around it. I also end up getting kicked out of viewing it multiple times a game. Also, when I try to push the app on my phone to another device, it rarely works for some reason. With the TNT app, I’ve never had any of these issues. So is it good for checking scores? Sure. But if you’re trying to watch an NBA game, hope that it’s on TNT.
It Lacks

When I pay money for an app I expect some reasonable content. ESPN+ does not provide that, unless you are a big fan of European soccer then it’s all there. It is obvious that ESPN is protecting its prime content against us nasty cord cutters and that will ultimately be to their demise. We are here to stay and if you cheat us on available programming the word gets out and your brand suffers. You would think your high paid execs would figure out that it is crucial to draw people in, not drive them away...bye bye
ESPN doesn't care. TheScore is better
Mickmeister17 on 2020-09-23
ESPN doesn't care to take the time to make sure that sports teams logo's lol the same when in light & dark mode. (Ex- University of Pittsburgh has 2 different logos depending what mode you're using. The non-dark mode has the correct color scheme). There are other logos wrong as well. They do not care to fix them and the league notifications for all sports lack in content compared to TheScore. If you're looking for an app switch to that one. I've been happy ever since I switched.
Too many ads
KevinMac408 on 2020-09-23
The app itself is fine and works for checking box scores, news and updates but watching videos is unbearable. Even with ESPN+ you still have to watch a 15-30 second ad for what could end up being a 15 second highlight. The videos are designed to be short clips that are easily accessible but the ads ruin the experience. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t have the patience to watch videos in a feed when every video gets interrupted by an ad longer than the clip itself. Super frustrated.
Horrible consistency

Hello ESPN, I just don’t understand your inability to be an elite app. You own some of the greatest companies in this country but your app branding is terrible. NBC sports and Barstool are such a better product. Can I please get a real answer why?? Every single time you update your app, I have to re-login my credentials. Please explain why you are so behind the times? ESPN +, I PAY for every month and you cannot remember my login info, miserable. Ryan
Not worth it
AyeYoAl on 2020-09-23
You would expect to be able to watch ESPN if you pay for a subscription to ESPN+ but it’s not that easy. They forgot to highlight the fact that you also need to pay for a cable package that includes ESPN. Not worth the subscription unless you also have cable with a package that includes ESPN, and even then still not too sure if it’s worth it. It might as well just be their regular app. If you’re thinking about pay for ESPN+ don’t!
