I don’t understand
CmakKanewbie on 2020-02-19
I don’t understand how a giant like ESPN (cough* -Disney-) would allow an app that had such poor user interface, with so many glitches, continue to flounder. Not only does this app crash 1 out of 5 uses, its buggy, lags at every time you minimize the screen; its search functionality is limited, at best. Let’s take for example, I’ve been recommended to watch ufc 221: rockhold vs Romero, if I pause watching it, hoping to come back later it is very difficult to find that show. I type in ufc 221 in the search, ufc 221 does not show up. I type in Rockhold or Romero, ufc 221 does not show up. It’s crazy. Additionally, you would think that having a poor search function wouldn’t be a problem because every app has a “recently watched” section, right? Nope, nowhere to be found. Honestly, it’s very disappointing. Finally, the lineup that displays when choosing a category has been essentially the same lineup since the First time I used the app 3 months ago. It’s very strange that the app is so poorly developed. Too bad; I’m sure there’s plenty of content I’m paying to see that isn’t available to me.
Widget needs fixing
Mombo Jambo on 2020-02-19
The score widget can be very useful, but for some reason the ESPN widget shows scores from games that have happened days ago. Right now, it shows the last game my fave NFL team played and that was WEEKS ago - takes up space. I had to remove the widget and use TheScore’s widget because they also have a “news” tab that I can view from the widget and see news stories which is neat. 1. Fix it so that once midnight comes around, the games shown on the score widget are reset for that day or upcoming and STOP showing scores of old games that happened days or even weeks ago. It’s dumb and takes up space. 2. Add a “news” tab viewable from the widget like TheScore did. 3. Allow us to click and view different league scores from within the widget itself instead of having to open the app up and scroll. Make it easily quick to view from the widget. Those three things would be a GAME CHANGER and I’d use ESPN exclusively if they did those.
ESPN+ won’t work on all devices
JG23tarheel on 2020-02-19
After recently getting a new Debit card and updating my info, ESPN+ will not work on all My devices. Works fine on my iPhone but will not on my IPad, Amazon fire TV or my computer!!!! On the iPad I get an error message but on my two google devices it continues to not allow me to log in. They both give me the option to renew but one makes me put in my card info ( which I’d rather not get charged again and the Amazon fire TV gives me another error message!!! This is so annoying because nobody seems to be able to give me a straight answer or has a clue what the issue is!!! Hopefully we can figure out the issue ASAP or there’s no way I’ll re sub next month
Going into 2020 with another TRASH espn app
Zombiezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz on 2020-02-19
App performance is horrendous, nothing ever plays straight through and replays are filled to the top with bugs and glitches. Again you force subscriptions down our throats and follow that up with giving us below average products and services. LAte January update does nothing, every time I try to watch something UFC on demand the loading circle spins for 10 seconds and nothing happens. Garbage garbage garbage garbage garbage garbage garbage. WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS APP IF YOU CANT EVEN WATCH A SINGLE LIVE BROADCAST. YOU CLICK PLAY AND IT LOADS FOR 5 SECONDS AND NOTHINGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not what it used to be!
JoeyRigs on 2020-02-19
This has got to be the worst app for any type of sports on the iPhone you click on a headline to read an article and it sends you someplace else you open up the app and it’s a blank screen waiting anywhere from 30 seconds up to two minutes while the app just completely goes black bounces you to your homescreen Let’s not even get into anything else that has to do with system maintenance because this app will also crash your iPhone Requiring you to perform a restart deleted this app yesterday and noticed my phone is running a lot smoother Garbage App
ESPN+ Not Worth it!
VanSuHan on 2020-02-19
I just paid the yearly subscriptions to save a little money and still not worth it. ESPN+ still wants you to sign in with your cable provider to watch most of the main stream sports like NBA, NHL, and College games. What’s the point of subscribing with ESPN+ when you can just watch most of sports by signing in your cable provider? I thought wrong that ESPN+ will let you stream all games available on ESPN. Steer away not worth the $4.99 a month. (I’m stuck with it for a year for nothing since I bought the yearly subscription)
gotarleton on 2020-02-19
By far the worst app I ever have had and I have to pay for it!!!!!! Constant login requests on my Apple TV and if you forget and mess up it’s an hour to wait! So much for me watching basketball upsets when it gives me a heads up while watching another app. I tried it for 2 months and am done. 0 stars, I will catchup on what happened the next day rather than pay these hacks for extremely subpar service and constant hassle. Plus I’ll mention the snafu during the college football championship. I hope they crash and burn.
Ridiculous commercial required for any clip
Cornbread251 on 2020-02-19
I have ESPN+ and watch it daily on my TV, but the ESPN app is garbage. I’ve had this app for years and it’s gotten worse and worse. You can’t watch any clip regardless of how short it is without having to watch a 30 second commercial. If you want to watch back to back clips you’re going to have to waste your time waiting for another commercial before you can watch the next clip. Even if the clip is only 10 seconds long you still have to watch a 30 second commercial. I’ve had enough. Deleting the app.
Gooseman122 on 2020-02-19
I’ve used this app for about the last year and I’ve just deleted it in search of something better. Maybe bleacher report or TheScore. We will see. The app is slow, and insists on playing commercials before every single thing you do. Not to mention, it loads it’s 30 seconds in HD perfectly fine but then takes ages to load your video in 1990 SD quality. Tons of links are broken and it’s just a frustrating app. It delivers the content but man is it slow and annoying
Thanks for ruining live sports on my phone.

The original Watch ESPN app worked perfectly. But, like most things that are fully functional and work fine. Someone decided it needed to be messed with. I understand the corporate desire to have it all under one app, but maybe the new app with Watch ESPN incorporated inside it should work just as well as the original. Unfortunately, it does not. Still love ESPN. Still use the app for headlines and scores. Just heavily disappointed with the Watch aspect.
