I have used Flo for almost two years now, and of the tracking apps I’ve used, this is hands down the most intuitive and user friendly. It has calmed me down in moments of unnecessary health anxiety by giving me clear and concise advice. Each month I log my symptoms and have been thoroughly satisfied with how well the app can help me understand my cycle. Even as a woman in my
Mid-30s, who has dealt with menstrual stuff for two decades, I learned new things and began to understand my cycle more.
Recently Flo released Flo 5.0, which seems like an amazing new update! As I read through the new features, I was excited. I assumed that some features would be part of Flo premium, but I was not expecting almost the entire update to only be available to those willing to dish out a good chunk of money each month. But the worst part is that features that were once (mostly) free, like the monthly report, are now only part of the paid Subscription. The monthly report used to include a free summary before it offered the premium content. Now it simply tells me what I logged, and then offers the monthly report as premium content.
I‘m honestly disappointed...it would have been one thing to just see the new features and personally make the decision to not pay for them, but losing features that were once free is frustrating. When you click on the insights, nearly EVERYTHING is premium now. This was a great app when there was a mix of free and premium content, and there were even months that I would subscribe because the content I wanted to read was premium, but having nearly everything be premium is frustrating.
If you’re willing to shell out the money, it’s a fantastic app. But if you’re on a budget like so many of us are these days, this app is beginning to lose its luster.
I’ve had Flo in the past and loved it. I didn’t have a phone for a year so I just recently got the app again and noticed a lot of changes, including that some features are only available through a payment. The payment is only around 14$ for the entire year.
I don’t think that’s so bad but if it’s out of budget I understand. The features on the free trial are pretty awesome so far, it’s like having access to a gynecologist because the information you give about your period has so much feedback. It’s really surprising what the app tracks and the amount of feedback you get about symptoms, tips / tools, workout ideas, food recommendations, yoga, meditation, and self- assurance. I wanted to take the time to write a review because I was really hesitant to redownload the app with the reviews talking about payments but I’m glad I did and it appreciating the free trial so far. If you’re unsure try the 1 month free trial and see how you like it.
Bonus for the awesome private community conversations that are available to everyone, so that you’re able to anonymously speak with other women/ girls on the app and freely ask questions or help respond to others. It’s just really awesome. I appreciate the app
As a young woman my goal is to track my period and symptoms and make sure I am healthy and there are no massive changes in my cycle. Little did I know I was getting more than just that! These secret chats have literally saved my life. I talk with other people my age about common insecurities and problems. I feel more confident in my body knowing I am not alone in some struggles. I wish there was no premium because I feel like learning about my body should be free. But I get that without money Flo could not survive so what if Flo gave premium content to everyone and added a feature where you could get a custom period or pregnancy box once a month. It would take some time to get right but I know for sure I would buy it. Women would have to take quizzes on how many products they use in a cycle and what products they prefer and all that. They should also include some type of food maybe fuzzy socks and a book! All things you can personalize. Of course this box would not be cheap but it would be worth it!! And if you think you might be pregnant maybe include a pregnant test! Please consider this ♥️ But all together a great app
I can’t believe there are bad reviews for this new update. Why do people expect everything to be free? I’m American, so I have absolutely no expectations that anyone will give a **** about my wellbeing without me digging into my wallet. I’m also very poor, but this app is in my budget, because it’s important for my physical and mental wellbeing. Are there more than three options here that I’m not considering? 1) Tracking your period is really important and you pay for premium 2) It’s not that important so you keep the free version or 3) You simply cannot afford the premium even though you want it. None of those are the developers’ faults. When I gave my first payment for this app, it was something like what I was looking for. They’ve taken my money and everyone else’s and have turned it into something that is nearly PERFECT. Please don’t complain about your budget or income in an App Store review. Work it out.
Requests: more info on nutrition depending on the cycle day and more moderation in the community. THANK YOU FOR THIS GLORIOUS APP!
I find the app generally useful for tracking my period and related symptoms, but the design of the app is irritating. I hate that I can’t select which daily insights I want in the settings; the recipes and exercise recommendations make filling in my symptoms a chore. I also dislike the way the daily symptoms are formatted. I used to be able to see the symptoms I had logged below the day information, but now they’re compressed under a tab that I have to click to open. It makes it harder to remember what I already logged and keep track of my days. The app should be simple with the minimum number of distractions because, let’s face it, it’s a health app. It should not be taking up even more of my day than it needs to.
Love this app.
Some features that would be useful:
-Option of countdown view of next period in widget instead of just calendar view.
-at least 3 different levels of symptoms (e.g. cramps low, medium, or high)
-easier accessible charts
-option to hide insights button
Ever since they added a subscription option this app has gone downhill. You can’t go through the app without being prompted to upgrade several times. It’s frustrating and ruins the experience. Instead of previewing premium features, there should be an option to decline and hide them in the settings until you decide to upgrade.
I used to love this app because for once someone informed us about how our bodies work, how our menstrual cycle affected us and what may be the cause of some symptoms. But now everything is for premium. Every time it says it has some information for me it gives me the first page and then says that to continue reading I have to pay. I really tough that for once someone cared for educating us woman but now I see it’s just another way of profiting on our needs and our miss information. Congratulations I hope everyone leaves this app. If you don’t have money you don’t deserve information at all.
This app is great and far more useful than i anticipated....
Nothing needs to be changed only a few additions that i think would be HIGHLY useful:
•Types of contraception used (as of now, only oral pills are an option, and not all of us take the pill)
•Ability to log vaginal health status beyond discharge. (i.e. yeast infections, etc).
•Ability to select varying levels of symptoms. (one day my irritability may be a 2, the next day a 5, and so on and so forth).
I hope these suggestions are taken into consideration, I’m sure it would take health tracking to the NEXT next level.
I opened the app today for the first time since the update only to find I couldn't get to anything without going through several screens of inputting info. First I looked for a way to X out of it and go to my normal info, but there was no way. So I entered all my info, only to find at the end still no info and a button the says Get Flo 5.0. I chose not to click that, bc is it not clear if that is me purchasing something or if it will take me to my info so I simply deleted the app. I’ll find something else to use. Bc this update took it from 5 stars to zero stars.
recently the app updated so that you would have to pay to access basically anything. i used to be okay with not having a subscription, but now this app is worse than any other tracking app out there. and even before then, i’ve always been a bit upset with the fact that everything was aimed towards girls and women - there are a lot of men and non binary people (including myself) who menstruate and use the app. i’ll probably be switching to another tracking app after the newest update.
quick edit in response - still not a girl. like i originally said.
