I’ve used the app since 2015, and overall it’s a very successful app. I’m a loyal Gamin user, and used Vivoactive1/3, Fenix 3/5, and Edge. Recently I’ve been studying Human Computer Interaction, and I’d like to suggest several implements in the user interfaces.
1. Add a count-down clock to the device sync-up. There’s a lot of feedback on sync-up slowness from other users. A count-down clock will make the waiting time explicit.
2. Make the changes explicit (highlight in red) since last read. The user wants to know what changed since last read, otherwise the user has to read though all the stats one by one.
3. Add a sleep score. Not everyone wears the watch to sleep, but for people like me who wear the watch 24/7, the sleep is important. The current sleep interface only produces the sleep stats without telling the user how good/bad the sleep quality is.
4. Add an overall health indicator. For active people, we can go with VO2MAX or intensity minutes to evaluate our fitness level. But for many less active people, an overall health indicator (based on sleep, steps, movements, weight/height, less intensive activities) could mean more.
5. Remove clutters from various screens, especially “More” and its sunscreens. Just because people don’t use More often, not necessary means More can become a storage bin for everything.
There are more ideas that can’t be easily explained via text. I hope your team will keep innovating to make this successful product even more successful.
I want my activity to automatically sync from my Edge 1030 after a ride but I guess that’s too much to ask. I’m not sure if it is the iOS app and/or the Edge firmware, but most of the time now I have to open the iOS app just to find it stuck on sync’ing. Then I have to try various things to get it to work. Yes, I’ve already tried removing old activities from the Edge.
Also when I build a course, it can grossly overestimate the total elevation. I’ve got a local road course I rode very often, and somehow its 1000’ feet is 4000’ on a course.
-app and subsequent screens loads slowly even on my iphone 12pro max
—> seems like they loading a web page with every screen navigation (old tech)
-no apple watch integration apple api should make this simple… it uses BT just find a way to grab the signal
-can’t use apple watch as a heart rate monitor with the 1030 plus or the app
-would use something else to manage the edge if something else was available
PLEASE ADD: the ability to modify edge 1030 plus screens from the phone app instead of doing this from the edge 1030 itself …
I love my watch and because I use it every day I think the app could use a couple upgrades. I get kicked out of the app while trying to rearrange my activities or widgets. It's also really difficult to connect with my friends. I wish there was a way to send some sort of link for them to click on so that I can add them to my connections easier. I also earned my half marathon badge without earning my 10k badge, which confused me. Overall, the garmin app is fine, there are just a few minor things that could be better.
PLEASE create a feature where you can still use the watch but also be pushing a baby stroller. I’m trying to become fit and track my steps but I can only do so if pushing the stroller with one hand while letting the other stage naturally. Please add a feature to track steps while pushing a stroller! Thank you.
Update complaint 7/26/21:
The old version was better rather than putting “stress” at the bottom of the screen under the body battery chart. Now when you click “stress” it shifts and shrinks the whole chart.
Love my Garmin HR3. Been using for at least 5 yrs and it’s still awesome. Sleep feature works great and provides good data why sometimes I am tired vs other days of 7hrs or more of sleep. Love the GPS for my mountain bike rides. Love the heart rate. Love the compare to other bikers’ times on same trail. Love love love it! Best fit watch over my previous Fitbit which was my other favorite.
I am livid at the change in removing steps from the newsfeed and not being able to see daily steps for my connections. The funnest part of this or doing challenges with friends was to see how their daily steps are. I could care less if they went for a hike, walked, or ran, counting steps levels the playing field and helps us all stay healthy and motivated to keep active.
I just switched from the Apple Watch to the Garmin Tactix Delta Solar and from an App, fitness and battery standpoint the Garmin destroys the Apple “fitness” ecosystem. It’s not even close!
The easy to understand and detailed metrics on this App actually make me want to improve all those numbers and in the week I’ve had the device - I have!
Well done Garmin!!!
I’ve had this app and venu sq for about a year. Great app. This week suddenly there’s no sleep data each night until 1 am. It’s like it isn’t keeping records between bedtime and 1 am. I don’t know if it was from an update. Hope this gets looked at by developers. Thank you
Update: Sleep stopped tracking correctly and syncing very slowly. Please fix in an update.
Great app, but.. I bought my watch so that I could store music in it and not have to take my phone. However, I can’t connect to Spotify because I signed into Spotify with Facebook, and instead of opening the Facebook app, it prompts me to enter my email and password within the Garmin app… Facebook doesn’t allow me to do that so I am unable to link my accounts…
