To avoid a essay, I’ll say it as easily as I can. When I want to get a email account added, it won’t work. I’ve changed the password multiple times, even passwords that anybody could guess and remember, but the email would say it was not the password. This is very sad as my video games have this email for 2FA purposes. One of my games had already signed me out and I’m a huge Fortnite player with hundreds of dollars wasted on the account and I’m petrified of logging onto my PS5 and it saying I’ve been logged out. I’d tell you what my email is but unfortunately I did this with a test email a year ago and I got locked out and I’m not risking that. Once this error or bug gets fixed I’m changing my PSN email and all my other emails. (Problem has been going on since around 2017-2018.)
I find Gmail to have one of the WORST UIs when it comes to viewing long email threads. I can’t tell you how many times I find it difficult to locate an attachment within an email thread. You sometimes have to look carefully and hit lots of expand icons to expand the convo and find the attachment.
The other flaw is that I hate that the app contains links within the gmail app rather than opening the link automatically in your browser. There are sometimes situations where a form won’t work within the gmail interface and then when you hit the button to open it in the browser you lose all of the data that you might have filled out in the form and have to start over.
we should be able to create filters on mobile and not just desktop. also, i keep getting notification badges when there are no new emails. it’s infuriating and wastes my time. and stop turning all kinds of redundant or sketchy features on by default (chat, meet, smart compose).
EDIT: i’ve been advised to uninstall and reinstall. i have a lot of accounts and it seems ridiculous that i should have to inconvenience myself to that degree on the off chance it fixes a problem google caused in the first place. just learn how to stop showing me notifications for new emails from accounts not currently turned on for the device. this is YOUR job to fix, not mine
I have a love / hate relationship with this app.
I love the ease of use, that you do not have to sign in when you open the app, unlike the Google gmail website.
But it would be great if my deleted contacts stay deleted! That is a problem with google email through the website, contacts gone.... but not so when using the app, even when I go to the settings to delete them. When I type a ( corresponding) key on my ipad, those deleted contacts show up. Even contacts you aren't saving, are still there! please help me resolve this problem . I have deleted and reinstalled the app several times, I even turn my device on and off, to no avail.
I’ve been a (paid) gmail business user for many years now and was a 5 star user of the app until just now. I switched from Android to iOS yesterday and now I can’t put my mobile email signature above the quoted text in my reply emails…they just stack up way down at the bottom of the entire thread….pointless to even have a signature at all if you have to scroll all the way down to find it. I can’t do business without my email signature displayed directly after each email reply, above the previously quoted text. Probably going to have to switch back to Android or find another email platform now…argh!!!
I’ve had this issue for months now where the number of new emails I have in my inbox doesn’t match the notifications I receive. I’ve tried refreshing the phone, removing the app and reinstalling, I’ve tried a number of other “tricks” and nothing helps. Sometimes I won’t get new mail notifications. My app will say I have 1 new email but if I open the app, I’ll have 30 new emails. It’s frustrating for me because I manage so much via email from my kids school to work and personal stuff.
Not sure what the deal is, but it would be nice if it could be fixed.
Google continues to delete compromising ratings from its users. As other users have reported, they DO NOTHING to block or deactivate Gmail spam accounts or porn spammers. Check for yourselves by looking at the original message format. It's algorithms NEVER flags this garbage as spam and its permitted. All three of our accounts is bombarded with this junk mail. Corporate doesn't care and they have given the green light for this to happen. They are sharing our data including our email addresses illegally to these parasitic accounts/sites.
The latest downgrade was some attempt to improve the ability to reply to emails. But instead it has completely taken my ability to reply away.
A screen pops up, but nothing I type shows up. I think behind my key pad might be more instructions? But since it’s behind the key pad, I can’t be sure.
All I know is gmail is now useless I my phone.
Shame, I was thinking of using gmail and google more. I’m glad this happened now rather than later. Now I know to never use google products or apps; we never know what he next downgrade will bring.
Historically this has been a great app, but the latest update seems to have introduced a bug in which the unread notification count persists after all emails have been read and even archived. The only way that I am able to clear the notification badge is by going into the app and explicitly switching through all of my accounts (just the act of switching fixes it, I don’t interact with any emails). I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the behavior persists. Hopefully the developers will fix this in the next update.
