googles overall more fluid than apple maps and far more reliable. countless times apple maps has literally lead me to places that are gone, dont exist, or never did. google in many many years has done this less than a handful of times. compared to apples idk. dozen in a few days. yes. that bad for apple. that good for google. in 2020. oct 23. however. as good as googles search can be it isnt repeatable. using identic words or history i cant get a location that it was just pointed to even show up in search again. idk. this stuff isnt my issue anymore. fix it or ill fix all this myself. consider stuff like this the final warning. you are responsible for routing traffic in covid times. i dont think you even understand the seriousness of the technologies you have. michael also i dont wanna see freaking similar areas. if i zoom out i want you to search the area again. do u really not have the intelligence to add two buttons? ill code it for u because i hate to think of the ppl u killed with this nonsense this year. and finally. when i type in a general search why on earth are you defaulting to the nearest object? i get it. u wanna be fancy. but its trash on the ground guys. being good in front of a screen doesnt translate to well made apps. i wish u all would get that. i mean its literally defaulting and trying to route to a location i passed. its useless. im ready to deploy my own sats just to end this. had to disable location to get more results. trash.
Maps counties to have offline issues

For the last few months even after reinstalling the app resetting my device network settings ect it still continues to think I’m offline and changes the end address to a “general area”. I deliver for Grubhub and when this happens maps will take me to completely wrong locations even after a few minutes when it decides to come back online airplane mode off and on will sometimes correct the issue but I still have to restart directions repeatedly and recently road work and construction has caused maps to try and send me completely out of the way of my destination by miles not blocks. I still prefer Google over Apple Maps or Wayze but if this issue continues i will just uninstall the app like I did 4 years ago when google maps was having similar issues with addresses and off/online maps and traffic. *would be awesome if like in Apple Maps google indicated stop signs and traffic lights. Also a lot of speed limit data is incorrect the other day the last sign I had seen while traveling down a road was 35 but google showed 50mph
Spyware

Google maps is really just spyware. It grabs all your personal information from your EMAIL even if your email isn’t ON the device, and it guesses what appointments you have and splatters all that all over your map. They claim you can shut it off but the option to shut it off isn’t where they claim it is. What a crock! This should be an opt-in only “feature”, not a stop-me-if-you-can thing they do. They are way too aggressive with data sharing “features “. I went through this before, several years ago and opted out of every last one of these “features “ online with my account. But, they just keep lying and stealing data even after they promised not to do it again. I hate them. I want a different email provider, but they get you this way, because I have had that account for soooo long and it is my name. So they have us over a barrel and they keep harvesting personal data without consent.
Beginning to lose faith in Google Maps

Has always been my go to but recently finding the user experience to be frustrating. First, glitchy zooming and scrolling. When trying to zoom and scroll to view route or whatever it will randomly jump off somewhere. Most frustrating thing is routes switching mid trip without warning. Say at the beginning of a trip you choose the route you want to take that brings you through a particular city. fast forward a couple hours and wait a second... this is not the way I wanted to go... at some point the app switched the route to something it apparently thought was “better” but now your 100 miles off course from the route you wanted to take. Unusable. Don’t want to have to be constantly checking to make sure it’s still going the way I said to go.
Please let me continue on my scenic route :(

Google maps is awesome except that it does not leave you alone if you pick a slower route. Once I pick my slower route I’d like it if it didn’t bombard me with alerts asking to change my mind and eventually changes the route for you if you don't hit no which is dangerous while driving. Google if you want to offer me a faster route then you need to find a safer way to do so. Also the app does not think about taking the most “convenient” route by that I mean it will send me up a gravel mountain logging road to save 15 minutes on an hour and a half trip which can be sketchy. Also the ability to take safer routes weather wise would be nice.
Unreliable

I’m so fed up with google maps doing weird stuff and making my travels dangerous so I’m just going to list all the weird things it does as they happen to me: - When I add a stop along my route there is no way to find out how it effects the overall trip time. - The zoom and scrolling on the map don’t work well, most of the time it just automatically resets to my current location - The app will always re-route to the fastest route, so if you’ve specifically chosen a certain route and the app realizes there is a faster way it will redirect to that route without asking or even telling you.

GOODBYE GOOGLE MAPS.

I have been exclusively using google maps for gps for the past 5 years. New updates to include search along the route and hazard/speed trap warnings have been useful. HOWEVER. just made a cross country road trip from FL to CO and back and I had to stop using maps. Auto zoom when trying to navigate traffic is SO ANNOYING. You touch to zoom in or out anywhere on the map and it completely turns around your orientation and zooms in somewhere COMPLETELY UNRELATED to your position, route, or where you pressed to zoom. NOT IMPRESSED WITH NEW UPDATES. SWITCHING TO APPLE MAPS.
Stop forcing faster routes
Sauljohn on 2020-10-26
I’m trying to focus on driving on the route I chose to follow but then the “option” for a faster route pops up. Not really an option, you have to opt out to not have your route changed. It should be a suggestion and not a forced thing. I’m driving and next thing I know, it’s taking me through a different route because I wasn’t looking down at it while it gave me the choice to opt out. Also, I don’t know if this is only me but now when I try to swipe up to look at the route ahead of me, it changes orientation and then allows me to do swipe freely. Very frustrating.
Wish I could give zero stars

I’m pretty sure most of the positive reviews are fake or when Google Maps was new and people were so excited for a Maps app that they didn’t care if it sucked. Maps routinely doesn’t label exits properly or in accordance with what the exit itself is labeled so then I miss my exit. Additionally it frequently makes me miss my exit because I’ll be entering the highway and I’m supposed to take the exit right after I enter but it lags and doesn’t tell me that until after I’ve passed the exit. The amount of times I’ve been 10-20 minutes because of this is ridiculous.
