Love the app. Grew up with paper maps. How did we survive? Lol.
1. Would really like option to say ‘back roads only’ or ‘as many dirt roads as possible’. Or ‘side roads only’. Something to take the long way home and explore… I often set destination using the ‘avoid’ options and ignore google map advice other than general direction, because I WANT to take those dirt roads.
2. PLEASE quit telling me there is a faster route taking that highway and select ‘no’ to Not take it. Or give me option to say ‘quit telling me about faster routes’. Having to tell google ‘no ‘ multiple times is a hassle
I’m a long time user of this app. I’ve used it on numerous multi-day cross country road trips, frequent day trips, and several times just to find cross-town, local establishments that I might be visiting for the first time. I’ve used it to choose destinations, plan routes, and for guidance while enroute. I’ve found it to be easy to use, accurate and quick. I’ve also found the contributions of their ‘local guides’ to be an invaluable resource. The ability to connect with my vehicles console via Apple CarPlay is also very much appreciated when using the app while enroute.
We use Google maps in our SUV and in a Class A RV and Google Maos has the same problem. We set in directions select the route we want to take usually Interstates and US Highways it may not be the shortest but that is WHAT WE WANT. But goggle maps changing the route no prompts just changes it. GOggle how do we ensure that the route we pick stays on the screen and not what some algorithm chooses for us. Until this changes We will consistently everyday give a one star rating. We should not be held hostage to goggle and u choose for us.
I am an iPhone user without data. (I know, behind the times I guess) With this being said, I can’t utilize the basic Apple Maps for directions, as it doesn’t work without data or wifi. I tried to figure out if there was a way to download maps offline, and google maps gave me the wonderful opportunity to do that. It’s very useful, still works just as well when downloaded. (It just doesn’t update on traffic conditions which I can cope with) I love this feature, and think it’s very nice that it has been offered to users.
At 65 years of age, I tend to fear unfamiliar locations. My medical appointments can be in anywhere in NYC. This app is my special friend, that helps me to find places in advance and navigates me to each place. It even saves where I parked my car.😂 I named this app my ‘Car Attendant’. I love that it shows the lanes that I should be driving in and it helps me to be into the correct lane to turn. Basically, I don’t feel loss. It helps me to calm my driving nerves.

Nobody uses Google maps for the most fuel efficient route, they want the fastest route. Ever since the update, it chooses routes sometimes 30min longer than the fastest one because somehow that’s more fuel efficient?!? And then it changes the route CONSTANTLY while driving to try and revert you back to the fuel efficient route. You have to physically change it back to the route you want WHILE DRIVING. Talk about safety issue.
Change. It. Back.
I have reviewed the hours of an establishment several times and Google will not adjust the hours. This has cause me heartache several times. I do not understand why they will not adjust the hours based on my several reviews. This business adjusted their hours, I assume due to Covid, and Google does not believe my reviews. Please tell me how you have reviewed this with the business and determined my multiple suggestions were false.
I use maps a lot. The mobile app is a pain in the Dyck.
GUI latency, excessive navigation (clicks), mediocre ease of use, lack of convenience.
The “GPS” navigation mode is only OK, not great. A dedicated GPS unit is better.
The maps website is x10 more usable than the app.
Good for very basic things like looking up a “good” address.
If Google is gonna use us for our data, at least make that interface useful enough.
The wedding weekend for Amy and Ryan Clark was magical! Jose and Marisa did everything possible to help and provide the ultimate wedding weekend. The rooms were perfect and charming. The grounds were beautiful as was the grooms lounge and wedding reception room. The food by Rutabagas was outstanding especially the prime rib!! Thank you all for making the wedding such a memorable experience for us all. ❤️Donna C
