Most of my teachers use Zoom as a meeting platform, but then this literature guy asked us to use Google Meet. It seemed fascinating at first, but everything went downhill afterwards.
Firstly, it takes so long just to enter a meeting, and Google Meet keeps blaming my internet connection. That is in a million years not my problem, because I have over 40 GB in my wifi modem. You better think twice before you start blaming users.
Secondly, within 5 minutes, I got disconnected from the meeting while my teacher was ranting important stuffs that might come up in the exam. When I tried to rejoin, guess what? Yeah, Google Meet blamed my internet connection again. To the developers, you guys really enjoy scapegoating, don’t you?
Thirdly, it always takes an eternity just to be able to see the host’s presentation. Then why did you even add the share screen feature in the first place if it is just going to malfunction?
If Google Meet wants me to give a better review, then give me a better experience with the app. It is that simple.
For the last two weeks I used this app for the first time only due to the program I enrolled in. Although it asked for another email account other than gmail, it won’t allow it to be used nor be seen as having been logged in as such. It forces the gmail account to only be used. Therefore the admin didn’t recognize the gmail account as I didn’t enroll with a gmail account. Though using a gmail account I had been disconnected from the video sessions repeatedly and couldn’t rejoin unless I closed and reopened the app as if it were an initial entry. Yet after rejoining for a few seconds it would then disconnect for no apparent reason. While in the session it limits 4 web cams at time who can be seen other than the presenter and the presentation. You’re unable to scroll to see others in the session unless they’re speaking. Then at that point whomever was on the screen gets replaced with whomever is currently speaking.
It is important in this day and age to have more than one option in video conferencing. If one app goes down or isn’t working properly, there has to be alternatives.
I use Zoom primarily, and find it a little easier to use than this one. I also feel more secure with Zoom that they are not tracking all of my data- Google in in the business of data tracking and sharing, so I am pretty confident my information is NOT secure on this app.
Having said that, it does work, am am able to meet with folks that prefer its features, which is a good thing.
As with other video conferencing apps, having a secure, stable internet connection is crucial. Voice quality isn’t always good; screen share +/- my voice cut out a few times during the call. It took a minute to figure out how I leave the session.
Google meet is the TRASHIEST, GARBAGE-IEST, WORST APP IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE. Now it has time limits and you can’t even record anymore so basically google just used us like toys and made google meet free before, and now you have to pay to get unlimited meeting time. So basically they’re just stealing things from us and lying to us so maybe we should start a protest to destroy google meet just because. Google meet is trying to be good and stuff and make you like it but really google meet is TRASH! GOOGLE CAN’T EVEN MEET WITH PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY’RE TOO TRASHY FOR HUMANS TO LOOK AT!!! YOU CAN’T EVEN CALL PEOPLE ANYMORE ON GOOGLE MEET SO WHAT’S THE POINT OF MEETING ON THIS USELESS APP?!?!?!
I really enjoy talking with Doug because he lets you talk and he gathers the info then we walk about it. I had to stop going to him for medical reasons, but I reached out to him and he was able to get me in asap, which I really appreciate. Thank you Doug for being so amazing at what you do and the inspiration you give me during and at the end of the session… I would recommend anyone to him. He is patient, genuine, good listenser, and just a down to earth guy that cares about his clients. Thank you again Doug. Can’t wait until we meet again..
So, today me and my friend tried to use this app. I honestly wish I used Google Duo or Zoom or something else that wasn’t this hard. First of all my friend didn’t have a texting area/chat box. I told her where it was but she didn’t find it. Another thing is that the audio is bad. My friend couldn’t hear me so I didn’t know what to do. And, the app had something weird where I saw 2 screens of me & my friend. As soon as I hung up, my friend deleted the app, and I did as well. Use another app. Don’t use it this is too hard!!!!
Since the COVID lockdown I’ve had to meet with my healthcare provider using this method, and I must say how happy I am that it’s so easy. The sound quality is clear and the video isn’t too bad, I guess it all depends on the equipment you and the other person are using and the connection. But both times I used it I could clearly see the other person and hear them very well. Thank you for this.
This works good for one on one meets because I am a counselor.
I don’t know why my business set it up but they did.
I have no complaints and have never had a problem.
I have an iPad not a phone. We switch from waiting for an email to tap on that to tap on entry to Meet, not like waiting in Zoom for it to start.
Good for confidential information, whatever works I guess.
Theirs a lot of bugs in Google meet. It’s not the worse bugs but it takes forever to load and In iPad when I press the link i need ask the teacher for a meet code which wastes 30 minutes of my time because it’s hard to join meetings. On laptop the screen keeps freezing. Please fix this thank.(Sorry for bad grammar/English isn’t my native language)
It's great for school! Although after class, with my friends I'd go in our secret meet link so we can hang out when I present and go to YouTube or a movie. The problem is my friends cannot here my presentation it's very irritating to me on iPad, since I even only use that device. Please fix this problem.
