Works pretty well for me
lifeplan4.2 on 2020-06-05
Due to the Covid virus, I meet with my fourth grade class on meet once a week, and meet with my colleagues and principal one to two times per week as well. I've seen a lot of complaints about the system crashing frequently, but I haven't had that problem. I did get bounced out of meetings twice, but signed back in within 30 seconds. The only shortcoming I've found with it may not even be one in a business or other setting. It would be nice if moderators (more than one) could adjust some of the settings during a meeting. We have students post continually in the chat column. When one is told to stop, another child starts typing a question. With 40+ kids in meetings, it would be nice to be able to shut chat off, and to mute disruptive participants as needed. A minor complaint, and definitely not something that would impact everyone. But for teachers, using google classroom, it would be a nice touch.
The app needs a lot of fixing.

UPDATE: Thanks for the response, but keep in mind about screen share. My device is NOT old, so the quality shouldn’t be a problem. No, I am not rating this app because of school. Let’s start off with video calling. The camera and the whole image is blurry. There is a lot of echo and when it “sounds good” the audio is behind. Sharing screen section is not good at all. As soon as I start it, I exit out of the app to show whatever is on my screen, but it stops responding in less than 5 seconds, plus the audio lacks a lot too. When you airdrop and invitation, it does say open in, but there is no option to open in Meets. App is a great idea, but not ideal. UPDATE: Thanks for the response, but keep in mind about screen share. My device is NOT old, so the quality shouldn’t be a problem.
Google meet is fun don’t make it go down
addiehealy on 2020-06-05
Ok so ya google meet is laggy and pretty glitchy but it’s just because there are a lot of people in the meet.Like today there was 12 people in meet like that was pretty glitchy but if you only have 4-6 people then it’s not laggy at all, just please don’t give it bad ratings like everyone did with google classroom because the teachers are gonna find out how to post work on some other website that we may be unfamiliar with and if you guys are rating this low because you don’t want it to be here then the teachers may pic house party...or and even glitchier video call website so please stop giving it 1-2 ratings because personaly I like google meet even though it glitchy and/or laggy so please just don’t give it a 1 or 2 rating Thank you Please put this out there for people to read
So many bugs!

The app will work fine one minute and then the next minute crash and give me an invalid broadcast message. When it does actually let me share my screen, there is a HUGE lag of SEVERAL MINUTES before it shows what I’m presenting. A few weeks ago there was a lag of several seconds but recently it’s gotten much worse. Sometimes even after waiting for several minutes it doesn’t even catch up to what I’m presenting and continues to show the previous page or slide and never seems to catch up. Sometimes touching the ipad screen will somehow help it to catch up, but often that isn’t a good solution with the programs I’m using because touching the screen will activate something else (like turn the page on iBooks) which makes the lag even worse.
It’s Okay...
MKS270 on 2020-06-05
It works okay, it just would be nice if you could change the layout of the screen on an iPad. Edit: I went to the website given by the developer (which I had already been too before writing this review). Perhaps I am missing something, but there is not a way to change the layout of the screen on an iPad. Edit on 6/4/2020: Still no way to change the layout of the screen on an iPad. The website doesn’t offer any help for iPad users. I wish my school allowed us to use Zoom. Very disappointed that Google doesn’t have layout options for mobile devices. :(
Please!!!

It’s really hard to do anything on google meet on a apple device. I dont have a computer and thus I dont have grid view. A lot of the things we do in class require grid view so I have to FaceTime my friend so I can see her grid. If all the other FaceTiming apps have grid view why cant google meet? The audio also is off by a little too so it never matches the person talkings video. And if you try to screen share a video it updates like, once every 2 seconds which makes any video really choppy. However, I never crash while using google meet. Yay.
There is a trend.
LilJBearGaming on 2020-06-05
A trend has been going on where students rate the app poorly to remove it so schools cannot continue classes. It wouldn’t work: here’s why. The schools will just use zoom or another source for meetings. This app isn’t bad at all, in fact I prefer it over zoom. I give this app a good rating because (not to be the nerd) I don’t want to miss out on important school work and meetings. An honest rating: it’s much better on the mobile app than chrome book. Some of the ratings are irrelevant because of this trend.
Tried and removed.

Tested with 3 users prior to an 8 person 4 hour meeting. Using an iPhone 11 Pro as the host on a strong home WiFi network. Missed the tiled user window option available from other apps. Was actually hoping it would offer a better alternative to Zoom, but audio and video was comparable, with fewer features on Meet. All 3 of us noted our phones (2 iPhones and an android) became Very hot very quickly. Will check back in down the road, but not a compelling option at the moment.
It is so Echoey while presenting
FruityJuicy Mcmoody on 2020-06-05
Google meets needs a major update or something or else this app will probably get taken down with only 1 star rate. Google meets is really bad and the camera quality just makes it worse. When ever there’s a presentation its either, too small or blury. I’m not trying to complain but I’m really just saying that this app won’t get any better, I’m sorry for those who actually worked hard on this. Please make it better because it’s pretty bad for me and my class.
