Google Translate needs a massive overhaul!

FEATURE REQUEST: Since most people are translating from a foreign language to their native language, it would be lovely if you could make your chosen language “stick” at the top of the list. I would prefer to have the languages I use most frequently stick to the top of the list. For me, they are: English, French, German, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. That would solve the annoyance of having to reselect one or more my core languages every time I deviate from my norm. I would like to include Croatian in my core list, but the machine voice for Croatian is unintelligible, even to native speakers because the sound quality is so poor and it speaks far too fast. HEBREW & YIDDISH: It is not possible to learn to speak or translate from either of these languages. Google has NO VOICE, machine or natural, for EITHER of them, nor does it scribe the translation using our common alphabet, Latin. At least then, I could make an attempt at the pronunciation of the words. I would cheerfully give Google Translate 5 stars as soon as these deficits are dealt with.
Was reliable but now its crap

i used google translate for everything. I live in a nonEnglish speaking nation so it came in very handy. but since the latest update I've had innumerable issues with it. I can't copy and paste it just puts in "TEST" when I paste something. the keyboard is messed up with emojis instead of words in the predictive text lines. the keyboard is laggy and often replaces correctly spelled words with incorrectly spelled ones. the keyboard has a globe symbol at the bottom that opens first with a list of emotions instead of the keyboard. it doesn't auto capitalize the letter of a first word in a sentence. it doesn't input a period at the end of a sentence . many times it doesn't input the letter I type. if i capitalize something i have to hit the shift typea the letter and hit the shift again or it CAPITALIZES EVERYTHING. all the letters appear capitalized on the keyboard regardless if the shift is on or not. it does this in other internet based apps as well but it started with the google translate app.
Good for practicing!!

Over the last few years, I have let my Korean language skills deteriorate. I have started to review my reading, writing, and speaking of Korean using Francis Parks books ( Speaking Korean Books 1 and 2). I do not, however, have any audio tapes to go with these. This app has been a lifesaver. Not only can I hear the pronunciation by typing in the practice sentences, I can also test my own pronunciation by using the English to Korean translator. I know I am pronouncing Korean correctly when Google Translate prints the text in Hangul. Loving it! FYI, for those of you who wish to learn the Korean language, I STRONGLY recommend learning the Korean alphabet first - learn to pronounce each character as a starting point. It will save you a lot of grief later.
I have to give you one star

But I'd like to give you a smack upside the back of your head!! what are you thinking? A company as big as you and you don't have support or contact us?? Virus be damned that is no excuse for you to Jack everything backwards and upside down and making us that knew how to use the app feel like an idiot !! I tell you this in person but how can I you don't listen anymore. I guess you're going to go bankrupt and stupid like the rest of the world. Mess up some other apps and I will be using another forum, like I have used you for years!! I am very disappointed

I don’t know what those 1-4 star people are talking about! Works perfectly fine! Super helpful! No flaws! Translate any language to any language!!! I can’t help the exclamation marks!!! You can even translate conversations! I can speak English while you speak Spanish! Una gran aplicación (a great app!). And thanks to the app I can type that in Spanish!!! 10/10!! 5 star! Indescribable!! I only wish the conversation one was a little more accurate, it’s a bit glitchy.
Not bad, but need more time to write kanji on screen to translate.

I do like Google Translate, but when I try to write Japanese "kanji" script, the app does not give you enough time to finish the more difficult characters with more than 6-strokes. If possible, with the languages that use more than 4-strokes/character, you need to add a "done" button so we have time to draw the characters correctly for translation. Please make the adjustment soon. Otherwise, I'd give the app at least 3 stars.

Descargue el app y descargue el modo offline del idioma japonés e inglés, todo iba bien hasta que quise entablar una conversación con un familiar que habla inglés mediante el app sin el wifi ya que tenía el offline de inglés descargado, pero desafortunadamente no pude ya que se lo necesita. Estaría bueno que aclaren esa parte, yo lo descargue con el fin de entablar una charla sin tener que usar wifi, pero bueno. Una lástima
Fair literal translations

The app has an average comparison to a dictionary, providing the kind of translation you might expect to extrapolate from dictionary lookups. It is very weak on idiomatic expressions. Plus I set the source language and the app began to propose other source languages as though I had set to auto detect, proposing various phrases to translate from a variety of languages not of interest to me.
I HATE the voice
Stepgranny on 2020-10-25
This app is ok, but I haven’t used it much bec I hate the voice. She sounds half dead and bored stiff. But the worse part is that her voice is horribly irritating, worse than fingernails on a chalkboard and every screech owl I’ve ever heard. I’ve looked in the tiny settings and even smaller help section to no avail. I can’t believe I’d dump an app just bec of a voice, but this one’s history!
New update is terrible
K-geeee on 2020-10-25
The previous version was so user-friendly. This new one is not helpful at all. You used to be able to get a very quick translation if you needed to say something to someone in a different language. Now, you have to click in so many different places just to get the languages set. It’s easier at this point to just do a google search for a translation.
