This app sticks no matter what platform I use it on it does not work there are about 35 of us that use this app in various forms over a 24 hour. Seven days a week sometimes we get a message sometimes we don’t get a message sometimes it goes through 10 minutes later sometimes we don’t ever see the message it’s not any particular platform it’s not the iPad it’s not the iPhone it’s not the messaging app it’s something and I don’t know what it is and it’s very frustrating that I’ve contacted Microsoft 15,000 times and gone on Twitter for GroupMe to ask what the problem is and they keep on telling me delete the app that it’s not just me it’s 40 other people that are having the problem. I don’t know I’m done I’m aggravated I wouldn’t download this app if I was you because they don’t respond back to you I put a Microsoft thing in you can contact GroupMe you got a put a ticket in and wait like five days for a response absolute ridiculous fix the app
Features That Still Need to be Added

Are you really going to start requiring birthdays? Why? I have deleted apps over such privacy invasions before. And you never add frequently request features like: • Searching for messages so we don’t have to scroll endlessly to find something important • Ending groups (if anyone can change the name, topic, picture, and theme of the group, then anyone should be able to end the group; unless, of course, it’s closed; or just automatically end inactive groups) • Deleting old messages (thanks for the ability to delete new messages but you can’t delete the old ones) • Deleting contacts (you can never delete contacts) • Blocking or hiding someone IN the group (if someone is trolling and spamming a group, blocking them only prevents them from DMing you or adding you to groups; blocking doesn’t hide their trolling spam) For Campus Connect: • Allow better search options • Allow us to read the full description of a group before joining it
Hacked?? No longer trusting the app
Cakelady1960 on 2021-06-15
Hey GroupMe - what’s up with the pop-ups I’m getting asking for my date of birth or I can no longer use the app? I checked it out on the web and found that it was required for security to make sure I was 18 or older so I entered it. Then I received a “GroupMe Support” message and pop up saying I was selected for being a loyal user to receive an iPad. I was curious and tapped the link because it was within an app I trusted and wanted to see if it was legit. It said I won and asked for name and address and then to check the box agreeing to the terms and conditions which were not given in a link there. I had to scroll way down to find a tiny link. When you read the terms and conditions, they plan to charge you $19 immediately and then after 7 days, another $87 for 30 days and that they have full access to use your account information. I think I need to close my GroupMe account and take our group elsewhere.

It’s a great way to communicate with larger groups of people. I have been using the app on & off for about 3yrs. It’s been working well. Last week it asked for my birthday. I clicked it away. Today, yet again, it is asking for this. I clicked it away. I don’t want to enter the info. I have already had my Group Me app hacked! This is crazy, but true. I would love to have the creator of the app fix this & update the app. The lingering hack is still in my app. None of the old chats can officially be deleted, only hidden. I would like to permanently delete some, as it’s bogging up my app. What happened to the place where we can post a photo on the chats? It has disappeared. Thanks for listening & answering.
Your privacy doesn’t matter
Bro-Dan on 2021-06-15
No matter what settings you have turned on or off in the app and in your iOS settings, GroupMe will disregard them and collect whatever data it wants. For example, I opened the app recently to see that my entire iOS contact list had been imported to my GroupMe contact list when though I have both “sync contacts over server” turned off in the app and in iOS settings, I have contacts disallowed. For those that want to use this app while maintaining some control over your privacy, you’re kinda screwed. You’re privacy does not matter to GroupMe. Thanks Microsoft, very cool (sarcasm).
Hate It!!!
QuestaGirl on 2021-06-15
I first download this app in 2019 to connect to my church group. I started getting x-rated messages from women showing their bare behinds and worse. Because I could not delete them, I uninstalled the app. In 2020, I tried it again. The first x-rated message was still there and shortly after signing on, I got another and again, I uninstalled it. So, here we are in 2021, and again I installed the app in order to connect with another church group. Both x-rated messages are STILL THERE and I cannot find a way to delete them. I wouldn’t recommend this app to anyone!!!!!
Not Deletable
Nottartsydoc on 2021-06-15
This app falsely claims to support Sign in with Apple. I can't delete the account without it asking for my password. What password? Sign in with Apple doesn't work like that. So I went to AppleID online and removed GroupMe from my managed accounts. The app doesn't seems to know that I did this, so I signed out in the app. Now there is an account with my name on it somewhere in the system that is an inaccessible waste of resources. Not even I can recover it, nor do I want to. Managing notifications is a hassle.
Do more Microsoft
Me MESP on 2021-06-15
GroupMe is a great app, but Microsoft could do so much more. I love being able to connect with each of my groups and use polls to help us work on projects, but the search feature could be better. More importantly, why isn’t there a scheduled/calendar/ something to help track?? Since MS owns Slack also, why not show GroupMe some of the same love? I would love to se GM pair with Asana or something to help it gain the depth to continue being great rather than get left behind!
Logged me out
ag57310 on 2021-06-15
I have been using GroupMe for a while and had no difficulties with it until all of the sudden it asked me for my age. When I put it in GroupMe logged me out of my account even though I’m older than thirteen. I tried to create a new account and it wouldn’t let me because “there was already an account with my email”. I thought it was going to delete my old one?!?! This makes me really mad and I have a lot of important information that I need to know on there.
OK; picture and video quality very poor
Enzo65 on 2021-06-15
This app is OK compared to what else is out there. In this day and age the picture and video quality is quite embarrassing. Most people want to share pictures and videos and phones have all these great image capabilities and then GroupMe sends you back to iPhone 4. Frustrating. I’ve found nothing as good as Path used to be in quality, usability, and constant new features. But they are gone so we are stuck with GroupMe.
