Features That Still Need to be Added
♪♫♪♫♪♫♪ on 2020-10-21
Adding a star for adding previously requested features like disconnecting from campuses. However, please add the following features: • Searching for messages so we don’t have to scroll endlessly to find something important • Ending groups (if anyone can change the name, topic, picture, and theme of the group, then anyone should be able to end the group; unless, of course, it’s closed; or automatically end inactive groups) • Deleting message (you can never delete messages) • Deleting contacts (you can never delete contacts) • Blocking or hiding someone IN the group (if someone is trolling and spamming a group, blocking them only prevents them from DMing you or adding you to groups; blocking doesn’t hide their trolling spam) For Campus Connect: • Allow us to join more than one campus (some of us went to multiple colleges for different degrees or will attend more colleges in the future) • Allow better search options • Allow us to read the full description of a group before joining it
Best option available, but could use a few improvements.

I’ve been using GroupMe for a couple years now and it’s fantastic, probably the best group communication app on the market currently (second to Discord, but you’ll not be using that with most groups since it’s targeted for gamers). I think the only things missing that I think is somewhat odd to not have is a group ping and pinned messages. It’s irritating to have to select and type out every single name of every person you want to announce to, especially on more frivolous chats that people keep muted. Pins also is a need, as important messages are soon lost in the miasma of other discussion. If GroupMe adds these, they’ll get five starts, but until then it’s a 4 star app in my book.
Great idea but horrible tech support
LyphBB on 2020-10-21
Downloaded the app, verified my college email, but I’m registered by GroupMe under the wrong university! Tried uninstalling/ re-registering, and no luck. Tried customer support. First time someone reached out and ask me about a group ID. Responded I just wanted to be put under the correct university. No response. Tried a second support request, no response. Is it so hard to be placed under the correct university? My email is “@(university).edu”. There really isn’t any guess work involved. 1/5 stars because I can’t use it with my actual university. (My classmates do not have this problem).
Needs Apple Watch Support
Testament on 2020-10-21
The app is pretty good overall however it really could benefit from Apple watch integrations. I'm often in a situation at work where viewing and responding via the phone isn't ideal or really possible. Being able to view and reply via watch would be fantastic. One other thing is that if a message fails to send due to connectivity issues it doesn't attempt to resend from what I've noticed. It just hangs there in limbo. If that could be resolved it would be very helpful. Other than that it's a solid app.
It’s ok
K9paine on 2020-10-21
As far as doing it’s job? It’s a solid app. If you need a way to form a chat for a group project or something to that nature, I recommend it. However, it’s missing a couple of features that every chat app should have. Example being the ability to delete conversations. Especially when your inbox gets spammed by bots. That’s my main motivation for never really using this app unless I have to. Also, there aren’t any privacy settings on the app, so fair warning.
Good but missing somethings
MrMattisonfire on 2020-10-21
First the option to delete messages would be nice. Sometimes I try my best to response to people quickly and I end up typos. This happened a few times to me and other people. The option to hide a message from the whole group would be nice. Additionally. Being able to pin messages. Sometimes we send files like PDFs to one another. I end up losing it amongst the conversation. Implementing those two would be great :)

I can’t believe people use this
joshwcorbett on 2020-10-21
This is by far the most poorly designed and ill-functioning app I’ve ever used to simply chat among coworkers. I don’t understand why an organization wouldn’t choose discord over this junk. I’ve experienced endless crashes, poor accessibility practices, poor adaptation to iOS 14, and terrible user experience overall. My company uses this and it gives me one more reason not to work there. Use discord, not this junk.
Getting lots of scam texts
kathm22 on 2020-10-21
Today alone I have received over 10 messages from accounts claiming to be groupme support saying i've been selected to win an iphone 11. i've blocked all, but still continue to receive messages. this needs to stop, and there needs to be a way for me to report these accounts. i'm sick of opening the app to messages like this and will be deleting the app if it doesn't stop.
Constant crashes
Menchies on 2020-10-21
I don’t know what happened, but over the last few months the app has started crashing a lot more frequently. I’ve noticed this on all my devices including my iPhone 11 and iPad Pro 3rd gen. I’ve asked a few of my other friends if they’ve experienced this, and they agree. Most of the time it’s random or when I open up the app and there’s a lot of messages.
