They still require birthdays to login.
The only reason they require your birthday now is so they can sell it to third parties and profit off of user info. Don’t fall for it and delete this app! Are we not able to delete messages anymore? Are you really going to start requiring birthdays? Why? I have deleted apps over such privacy invasions before. And you never add frequently request features like: • Searching for messages so we don’t have to scroll endlessly to find something important • Ending groups (if anyone can change the name, topic, picture, and theme of the group, then anyone should be able to end the group; unless, of course, it’s closed; or just automatically end inactive groups) • Deleting old messages (thanks for the ability to delete new messages but you can’t delete the old ones) • Deleting contacts (you can never delete contacts) • Blocking or hiding someone IN the group (if someone is trolling and spamming a group, blocking them only prevents them from DMing you or adding you to groups; blocking doesn’t hide their trolling spam) For Campus Connect: • Allow better search options • Allow us to read the full description of a group before joining it
I’ve used GroupMe for a number of years, and only in the last 2 have I started to notice problems.
Frequent problems I have with GroupMe include how long it takes for it to refresh. It can take hours before I’m able to respond to a message because my GroupMe refuses to recognize that I received a dm, which is very problematic.
Another problem that I’ve started experiencing this week is being unable to login into GroupMe even after resetting my password. This has provided some frustration since I need to use it both on my computer and my phone to speak with individuals in an organization that I run. Being unable to log back in is an error I’d like to see fixed in the near future, as it is very inhibiting.
I’ll admit that I prefer other apps like Discord, but GroupMe is much easier to use compared to many other apps, not to mention how every organization I’m involved in is plugged into the app. I want to see improvements in the performance of the app, especially since I need to use it a lot. I don’t mean to be rude; all I ask is for an app that works well. As of now, I don’t believe GroupMe fits that criteria.
At the moment, if I could rate this app zero stars, then I would. The fact I have to use this to contact my residents as a Resident Assistant at my university makes this all more infuriating.
Keep in mind, my wifi isn’t down and runs smoothly. The app begins to struggle to connect to my chats, constantly stating it cannot connect for whatever reason. So, I tried switching to data. That didn’t do anything, so I restarted my phone—that did nothing as well. As my last measure, I deleted the app and reinstalled it.
If things couldn’t go worse, well, I have news for you! I did! Now, Group Me refuses to log me into the app whatsoever. I even changed my password. The pins to verify myself would be sent 5-6 minutes later, and wouldn’t work. I’ve used my
backup code but it takes a very long
time to login. The worst part? I can’t even call customer service. You’re stuck with an email, which can take a few business days for you to get help in return.
Frankly, I went from loving Group Me to
hating it within an hour. Do better, Group Me.
I’m apart of groups with over 200+ people. Make it so there can be more than one Admin in the group. Also add make a setting to where only admins are able to send messages to a group. Sometimes feedback isn’t needed in most groups that strictly exist to put out information. Lastly and I’m sure you guys have seen this one before. ADD THE ABILITY TO DELETE DIRECT MESSAGES! I hate having to look at messages that were only a one time occurrence with a person that happened years ago! If I can do it on my phone I should be able to do the same on the app! Hiding messages is not an option to solve the problem! Remove on you FAQ page that you can hide/delete messages when you can only hide! Liars! Fix the bug that occurs when someone new messages me and I can’t see it until I try to direct messages them myself.
I’m not one to write negative reviews; ever, as I believe it’s better to look at the positives. However this one is deserved. I reached out to customer support after I switched phones and phone number and couldn’t access my account to get help. Only to find out that they do not have any sort of phone line you can reach but rather just an email service... their service is not only slow and inefficient but I still haven’t gotten a reply and it’s urgent details for a meeting as well as camping details that I no longer have access to, that ruined a potentially great getaway vacation. A shame, that such a beautiful app is flawed by bad & slow customer service but alas a perfect messaging app I guess cannot exist.
In the past it was pretty solid but more recently I just keep having more and more issues. The main issue I keep encountering is being able to connect to my groups and having it update messages. I’ll send a message into a group and then it will show that it hasn’t sent where in reality apparently it did then when other people reply to my messages I will get the notifications on my Apple Watch or phone but will be unable to view them in the actual application for long periods of time. Then on my desktop version now I’m beginning to have issues with the chats loading. This has been a major issue because I use this for communicating with my classmates, team project members, and club members. Please fix this soon!
I don’t know if this is happening to anyone else but whenever I try to use the share function in any app (tiktok, Twitter, tumblr, etc.) to send a post or video to GroupMe to my friend using an iPhone pro max, it won’t send it to her. Doesn’t give me an error message, just looks like it sends it but it doesn’t. I can still share things this way with another friend who uses an android and I can send links to my iPhone friend through her text messages, just not directly to the GroupMe app. I’m using an iPhone 12, but I have an old iPhone 6S plus and the share option works fine on that, so it’s really confusing and frustrating.
This platform seems to be garbage. I’ve successfully used it before years ago but for some reason now I cannot communicate with anyone. There was no suspicious activity but I got that email. My previous password worked fine but for some reason was disabled. And now I’m standing right next to my wife who is sending me messages, I can see her composing ‘typing’ the message from my feed, but no messages ever show up. I am unable to send messages -or says I’m sending them but never shows up for the recipient. What the…? Hot garbage.

Been having the same issue for over a week. I can open GroupMe, login anywhere but all of my groupchat messages have just disappeared. They aren’t in my archives, I didn’t leave the chats and I’ve even had a friend tag me in a message in one of the chats. I can see all the notifications for my group chats in my notification bar but otherwise the physical groups are not showing up in the group me app. I updated the app with no luck, then I’ve switched to a new phone today and logged back into GroupMe. Still have the same issue. What is going on?
I know it is a good app in general because I know a lot of people use the app but I can’t really tell if I Can’t login and it is really annoying. I have tried multiple times to create an account on the website then logging in on the app but it doesn’t work! Then I try just making an account through the app… Nothing. So then I just try each of those solutions in different spots and different cellular service and WiFi buts still nothing. I really hope this gets noticed by a creator so maybe they could help me out.
