Beautifully made, poorly balanced
JasonTheAdams on 2021-01-26
This is really a well made game. The design is great, the match mechanics are unique and interesting, the plot is cute and fun, and the home building is engaging. The dev team should be proud of this. I haven’t even found a single bug. That said, it’s important to remember this is a freemium game. With considerable patience it’s possible to win the game for free, but expect to be very patience and grind a lot. What really discourages me from spending real money on a game like this is that what you get is coins that are a finite and low value commodity in the game. So you could spend $5 and then very quickly burn through what it got you. So do you spend $5 more? Even if you spend $100 you could easily burn through that. That’s the nature of freemium games. So will you win this game? Probably not. I’ve reached level 118 (which isn’t even marked as hard) and I’m feeling the urge to rage quite after ~20 attempts. It’s all chance unless I burn a lot of money to win... a single level. There are hundreds of levels. Knowing this, I’m not motivated to continue. If money bought a multiplier for more coins per level, or permanently added matches per level, or something else that gave me a permanent edge in the game, I would seriously consider spending money. But no, as with almost all freemium games it ultimately feels like an endless cash grab. Such a shame for such an excellently executed game.
Stupid

Either I’m stupid or this game is. Like so many other games, the ads used to pull you in are pretty much non existent once you’re in. OMG, story is tedious, way too long, slow and, again, stupid. What good is it to waste a booster at start of level when there are only a few bad guys anyway? They should be available during the level to increase ability to complete. If you run out you would need to buy more (I wouldn’t spend a nickel but some would) or earn more. Also have noticed if the (pretty much rigged) game is generous with boosters, it’s VERY stingy with opportunities to use them to beat the level. The “wiggly” suggested moves are often not the best unless they’re the only possible move. Have somewhat enjoyed the game am not happy with having 10+ moves left to get one bad guy to win, only to not be afforded any opportunities to do so. Have been stuck on same level on 2 iPads. Tired of it, deleted game on one. Will try one more time on the other. If same results, am done with this game. Also playing Lily’s Garden on both pads with similar results. That game similarly frustrating but seems like player has more control via really paying attention. With this game it seems to sense you’re making progress so it makes sure you don’t succeed. No longer fun so am done!
Disappointed with increasing level difficulty

I have been playing this game for a year and have really enjoyed it up until recently. I’m on a really high level but now the levels are so hard that I literally spend 3 days trying to beat it. I even spent money on the “golden ticket” at Christmas only to not make it to the end because I spent days on the super hard levels every time they came up. At one point even “Austin” got on his little phone and complained about the level on my behalf - which admittedly was quite funny so props to the game makers- but seriously this is supposed to be for entertainment and a way to de-stress. I don’t mind paying for extras now and then but I’m seriously considering dropping it altogether because it’s so frustrating. Guys, you have a good game but I’d honestly rather pay for a game that I can actually win than get my blood pressure up bec I’m sick of playing that level. I just want to decorate the house man.....
It was an enjoyable game

I’ve enjoyed playing this game - on level 2735. It’s been getting more aggravating and pricy. None of the tournament and side games (I.e. decorate the workshop) can be completed as they throw hard and super hard levels at you every 2 or 3 levels. If you play enough times on the hard and super hard levels, you can get through without using a boost - just takes the patience of Job . Thing is, even if you use coins or boosts, it doesn’t help. Problem is even with 8 lives (with the golden ticket) it can take a day or two to get through those levels. Because the game has turned into a pickpocket, I won’t be spending anymore of my entertainment budget on this game until they stop throwing hard/super hard levels at you every 2 or 3 levels.
DELETED Money grabbing game
Luney on 2021-01-26
UPDATE DELETED this stupid game. I’m tired of being stuck on levels. Screw it. Deleted Gardenscapes for the same reason. I really liked this game. But they make some levels ridiculously hard and you can not get through them without boosters and at least 900 coins to get 5 extra moves. Some levels literally can take a week or longer to solve and you still only get 1 stupid star. Homescapes and Gardenscapes are both like this. It’s frustrating and irritating. I seriously think that the person that designs some of these levels hates life and makes us suffer as well.

You have to play a mini game (similar to candy crush) in order to get a star to remodel the home. The design choices are not very good. In the mini game, you eventually get to a point where you need to use boosters and/or coins to move to the next level since the game is impossible to beat without those. Although you can earn both, you reach a point where you use more than what you earn, and that is how they then try to get you to use real-world money for boosters and coins. No thank you. This game has been deleted.
Like Bejeweled, but Impossible
Lrobinson7933 on 2021-01-26
I was enjoying the game until I got to one of the matching games that was IMPOSSIBLE to beat! I spent several days trying to beat it just so I could get back to the “home improvement” portion, but it got to the point where the only way I could keep playing the matching game (which is the ONLY way to advance in the rest of the game), I would have had to buy more plays! Nope, it caused more stress and anxiety than anything else, and I play these games to de-stress. I really think this game has potential.
Your ads are cancer
IceLion999 on 2021-01-26
I only downloaded this app so I could call you out in a review…which, granted, probably isn’t going to hurt you at all, but it still needs to be said. FIX YOUR ADS!! They are literally impossible to X out of because the x button is so small and shoved so far in the corner that you can’t even click it! This is not an ok practice. I don’t even care if your game is actually good or not, but I’m not changing or deleting this review until I stop seeing your stupid un-X-able ads.
Second attempt at a review

My first title was “Not why I got it” but my phone “crashed” before I finished typing that. I downloaded this app based on the logic game ads I kept seeing on other games I play. Needless to say I was given very few of those. Additionally, my phone one day said the app was eating up too much space, so I removed it. Maybe I will give it another try if they fix this problem and actually have games like they advertise; otherwise, you’ll be better off getting something else
Why is this game so difficult?!?
CavaCaveo on 2021-01-26
Okay I’m a long time player. I had to quit a few times because the levels are so ridiculously hard. I’m on 695 now and it’s been impossible to beat. I hate a play to win game and that’s all this is. You barely get anything for beating a level. One star and probably 50-80 coins. You have to pay 900 for extra moves! It’s so difficult making any progress at all unless you are paying for it. And even then you will still struggle to beat it!
