Do not use this third party merchant!
Christynic22 on 2022-01-17
Hopper will steal your money. They are the worst third party booking service I have ever utilized. There is no customer service line available if an issue arises. The only way to communicate is through a message portal on the app. Their terms and agreement disclosures say they are bound by the hotel policies. But if that was true, they wouldn't have charged me for the entire stay when the hotel cancellation policy clearly states that if the reservation is canceled within a 72 hour window you are consequently charged for 1 nights stay plus the applicable service fee/tax. Hopper charged me the for the full stay to include taxes and fees for a grand total of $938. If I could give 0 or negative stars I would. I made a reservation at this resort and paid in advance. Unexpectedly 3 days before our trip my kids got sick. I asked to change the reservation dates as I was unsure if they had Covid and the merchant refused to work with me. They said that I could cancel and only be charged for one nights stay per the hotels policy but that was my only option. I provided them with the necessary clinical documentation from my doctors visit. After going back and forth with them explaining that we could not travel because I did not want to be responsible for the spread of Covid I received no further assistance. It's beyond me why a resort or third party merchant would promote traveling while sick especially during a pandemic! I can only imagine what the resorts sanitizing protocols are or if they are even being followed. It seems that the merchant is money driven and they have no consideration or empathy. They cannot even abide to their “supposed policies.” I am currently in a dispute with my credit card company over this situation. But this has been a nightmare of a ridiculously drawn out process. Customer service should be a bigger priority for them. Profits appear to be the only thing that matters to this merchant even if they have to scam people out of their money. They are unreachable and impossible to work with and willing to do whatever it takes to rip people off. There is so much of a back and forth blame game between the hotel and Hopper the cited policies hold no value. They refuse to offer any sort of refund/compensation for services that were never rendered. They can’t even take ownership of the scam that occurred.
Don’t be fooled by the cute user interface

There are flaws with this booking system. I tried to book a round trip ticket with premium economy with connections. I was confused when I received multiple locator codes for individual segments instead of one code for the whole trip (the segments are codeshare of the main airline). This was unusual but then I realized the Hopper app was less than elegant dealing with my attempts to book my seats under each of the airlines. Actually it was really frustrating. Then it went from bad to worse when only some segments allowed me to book luggage. The Hopper app clearly indicated that there was one checked bag included. But this was inaccurate. One airline wanted to charge me and another did not even allow me to book a checked bag. The CSR pointed out it was the airlines that decided that and I knew that. (I still wonder how he knew what I knew, or not). Clearly, the CSR did not figure out that the booking engine did not book my round trip as a contiguous flight but rather as individual unconnected segments. And there for the segments were not booked at the same premium economy level. What a mess! I canceled and expect a full refund which I was assured I would get. But will still lose the cost of the seat I booked before I realized the extent of the mess. I rebooked on another site and voila same flights, luggage included, one locator code, as expected. Maybe this app is only meant for travelers with simple flights at bare bones prices. It’s bad enough to have the booking go wrong but for the customer support to blame the airlines and me is just wrong. I will steer clear of Hopper and support apps that maybe aren’t as cute but they work! I can’t see your response and request for more information but will provide more information so you can fix the booking system and interfaces to the airlines once you have refunded me the full amount which was promised by the CSR. You currently have short changed me by $93. I can also send you a copy of the email from your support team promising a full refund. Thank you.

I have used Expedia and a lot of other third party apps to book cheap flights and hotels, but I am telling you now, Hopper is the worst of the bunch. Even though one of my flights was cancelled TWO MONTHS in advance, Hopper failed to notify me. They attempted to rebook me on another flight but failed to officially reissue my ticket. I came to realize this at 6AM on the day of my original flight when the airport ticket agent told me that Hopper never rebooked a ticket, despite the apparently fake booking reference numbers they provided. It does not stop there. One of the worst aspects of this company is that they have NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT phone number to call in case or problems. I had to email back and forth with amateur, untrained Hopper employees to rebook me on another flight. This was not only an extremely slow and inefficient, but also ultimately unhelpful. Hopper failed to rebook me on a flight out of Canada that day and refused to compensate me for the $300 additional expenses (e.g., hotel, food, & the $150 rapid COVID-19 test required for entry back into the U.S.) I incurred from delaying travel an extra day. The “best” that Hopper could offer was $50 in “carrot cash” coupons for additional bookings through their app after “pulling a few strings.” How pathetic and unprofessional is that?! In the end, it will save you time, money, and stress to pay a little bit more money up front to book your flights through the airlines directly. Do not use Hopper, or you will greatly regret it, like I did.
Price Freeze - predatory product
RelentlessPlaintiff on 2022-01-17
I froze a price for a flight, or so I thought, and due to slow load times I refrozen the price thinking there was an error. Then I got two price freezes for the same time ($72 charged). I tried to inquire about cancelling the second freeze booking, since it was in error, immediately following. Cue canned “I’m sorry, there’s nothing we can do” responses from their service rep. Nothing they can do, hands are tied, yada yada. Consumer beware: there is no human you can work with when you experience a problem. Just a customer service rep with ZERO attachment to your problem beyond a computer change log. They’ll use your app behavior against you in a dispute, understand or as it may be, their policies will trump your grievance 100%. You’ve been warned.

I booked through hopper once before and had no issues. My second time trying to book, I went to purchase my flights and an error message came up with each attempt. I eventually moved on to purchase flights from another website since hopper didn’t seem to be working. Few days later I noticed hopper charged me, with no confirmation whatsoever - and now the trip was showing up in my app. Now I have double booked my flights unknowingly. Hoppers customer service was the least helpful I have ever dealt with, and they could only credit me the price of the flights, not even the fees/protection plans I purchased as well. Now I am stuck with flights I don’t want and am still out $100. Never using this app again if it’s this easy to lose money.
Scam at best
earthtonesjones on 2022-01-17
Only open this app and search your flight when you are ready to book it right then. If you ever look at the same flight twice the price goes up. Hopper will notify you almost every day that “this is the lowest this flight will ever cost” then you book it because the notifications are annoying. Then the flights always drop in cost , so with their “price drop guarantee” you think there was no risk. My flight dropped 138 dollars and they credited me 5 of their vegetable dollar coupons. Lol absolutely trash customer service. This app is a scam that tricks you into paying for over priced fights.

This is quite literally the only review I’ve ever written in my entire life. No google reviews, no yelp, no nothing. Generally I don’t care enough. But Hopper is the biggest scam and most incompetent travel company I’ve ever witnessed. If you need to make any changes or use travel credits it’s an absolute joke. You can’t speak with customer service on the phone. They don’t call at all. Their support team is all foreign and don’t understand basic English directions. The pricing is also a scam. They upcharge compared to the airlines website when changing a res.
I’m kinda falling in love with Hopper.

I’ve been seeing the hopper ads on tv and my games. I thought it was just a big scam. Well a couple days ago my cousin was looking for plane tickets to travel a great distance. She was looking at the air line tickets and they were easily nine-hundred to a thousand dollars. I bite the bullet and downloaded the app. I looked at the tickets on the app and they were 700 dollars cheaper! I told her and she booked the tickets off of the app. I’m not sure how they do it; but I’m not complaining.
Don’t use the price freeze
namelessconsumer007 on 2022-01-17
If you use hopper for the price freeze feature don’t it’s bait and switch. They’ll tell you your freeze is insured up to $100 (advertise as coverage if the flight is canceled, filled). What they don’t clearly state is the $100 coverage is also for a price increase…sneaky. Every flight will continue to increase beyond $100 so this feature is completely useless if you wait more than one day, they give you a week. Update: my conformation code was 6V918M9K

Hi this is Ruturaj and I have been using this app since past 6 months. This is a really good app as it notifies me of the price increase/decrease possibilities. The app itself is user friendly. It also allows you to get the extra back office support for the reservations made. It will also guide its users the lowest prices and range for the selected month. I am finding all the help that I need on this app. I hope y’all do too. Thank you team Hopper.
