Powerful App— I’d be willing to pay for a few extra features

The app is very powerful. I lost a lot of weight in the first week just by tracking my eating which created some accountability and helped me cut down on snacking and unhealthy “special occasions.” I cook a lot and frequently try new recipes. I LOVE being able to add my own recipes to this app. I am confident enough to do my own meal planning, so it would be great if a meal planning function could be added that would give me an idea in advance how a particular projected meal plan would meet my goals. Generating a shopping list based on the meal plan would also be helpful. The meal planner would need to be able to distinguish between how many servings I plan to eat (for nutrition projections) yet create a shopping list for the whole recipe since I cook for others in my family or plan for leftovers. I find the macro tracking helpful, but it does not distinguish between healthy carbs (such as whole grains), fats (olive oil), and proteins (beans) from unhealthy ones. I could balance my macros, but still be eating an unhealthy diet. It would also be nice to be able to plan meals by projected servings of whole grains, legumes, fatty fish, fruits and vegetables, etc as recommended by the Mediterranean Diet. Finally, in the nutrition panel, the bar charts are helpful to see how close I am to meeting my daily goals. However, once I go over, it does not show graphically how FAR over I have gone. Also, it would be nice to generate graphs for how I am doing on specific nutrients over time. On AVERAGE am I meeting my goals? Overall, it’s a very helpful app— probably the best in its genre. The free version has just about everything I need, but I would gladly be willing to pay for meal planning or advanced tracking features.
Beyond What Meets the Eye

Free Version - You know, the basic functionality like tracking a few calories and seeing the constant commercials. That version is great and 5 stars no problem. Premium Version @ $20/month: negative 10 stars to say the least. I have used the app for 24 days straight taking advantage of every premium feature down to macro nutrition. Even calculating my water intake down to the ounce and the fibers down to the grams. I have created meals, workout routines, exported files, and took the app through the ringer. At $20/month this is a pethatic excuse of a user design that crashes all the time. If they cancelled out all the 5 star reviews from the free version users, I bet you this app would have a rating of about 1.2 stars in their best day. Not only because in crashes, it lacks friendliness. Here is one stupid example. If you add chicken as a lunch meal and eat that every day for a week. One day you get busy at work and you end up eating that chicken for dinner instead. Guess what, you can’t add yesterday’s lunch as today’s dinner, I have to re-add the entire meal again (not even copy/paste) to claim it as today’s dinner!!! Adding a workout routine? Good luck finding the right one from the list!! They have a feature that recognizes my food with a pictures, but their 10,000 list of workouts do not have a simple seated dips to pick from!!!
Decent app but has some Fitbit connectivity issues

I initially purchased this app after using the premium Fitbit app and finding several missing food items. One of their message boards recommended this app and I’d say it’s an upgrade in that regard however lately I’m finding I’m spending too much time searching for menu items that don’t exist and the breaking point was having recent connectivity issues with my Fitbit (steps won’t sync or sometimes sync a day later). I like the insights into what I’m eating but find that I spend too much time trying to approximate what I ate to the available choices in the database. The bar scan code is pretty cool but if you’re eating home cooked meals or foods that aren’t in the database, you’re going to spend a lot of time entering recipes. Lastly, the headers don’t freeze like excel so you’re going to have issues associating the data with column headers once you scroll down in your phone. I immediately jumped into the paid subscription and would probably be more understanding if I wasn’t paying for the app. They recently introduced a new feature that allows you to take pictures of your food and that may be a game changer if it works as advertised.
App did not count the values correctly anymore after this last update
Bus. User on 2021-04-17
As a premium member I am very irritated that an app that was perfect before this update, which touted “full of bug fixes” is now full of mistakes. The update should aptly be labeled “Full of bugs”. The carb counts on most line items were not calculated correctly and the total numbers at the bottom were wrong. I put the same food yesterday, and the counts between yesterday and today after the update were totally different. It doesn’t even make sense, the manual count of the line items for the carbs showed 34 and the bottom total number for the carbs was showing 5 today! When I wrote tech support, he tried to tell me that it was the mistake of the database for not having the info on the fiber and sugar alcohol and not the app itself. Well if I were a free user, I will just switch to another app. I might cancel my premium soon if it isn’t fixed in a few days.
Great way to track, but...

I love this app. I use it every day and have for years. It makes it easy to stay accountable and maintain/lose... whatever my goals are at the time. My biggest complaint is that the “nutrition specialists” on here are too hardcore pushing vegan, keto, and fad. I’m sick of seeing the 25-35g of fat content recipes because someone said that avocados and seeds are healthier than salmon (or pick another nutrition fallacy). I’d love to see their nutrition focused more toward every day eating and how to survive when challenged to stay on track. That said, as above, been using it for years and works well for that. Has lots of food input options. The free version is plenty for most standard users to track and keep their goals.
Fixed the sync issue
MomMD of 4 on 2021-04-17
Update: they have fixed the sync issue with Fitbit. I have used this app for years and have successfully lost weight with it and kept it off. Unfortunately the memory for recent and frequent foods keeps seeming to get smaller which makes me have to relook things up and wastes time. Even more frustrating, now it is no longer consistently syncing my exercise from Fitbit. This is incredibly frustrating and means I am just guessing at how many calories I have left for the day. If they fix this issue, I will raise the star rating again. For right now, just 2 stars. Lowered to one star today as now it’s not syncing at all with fit bit. Before it was at least syncing in the morning... Please fix this soon!

The app itself is okay, can be helpful. However, they (UnderArmor) use this to spam you. I’ve tried to remove myself from their lists by unsubscribing. I have also emailed the company and told them I do not wish to receive marketing emails and newsletters, they told me that I would be removed from all email lists but it hasn’t happened. Their marketing emails clutter my inbox. Most of it goes to the junk folder but some of it still makes it’s way to my inbox. This is actually illegal, by the way. I would give it a higher rating but spam is instant one-star and I feel like people should know what they’re getting in to when signing up.
Recent update drains battery
HondoS65 on 2021-04-17
I’m not sure what’s going on but haven’t used the app in a little while but kept noticing that my phone battery kept on dying and had to be charged several time a day. Looked under my battery health and it shows that this app is running in the background for over 9 hours in the background even though I haven’t used it in quite a while. Went into the app to check settings and made sure nothing new was added or to see if anything was changed in my selections and it was all good. Eventually I had to just delete the app because it wouldn’t stop running and draining my battery. Not sure what they did on the latest update. Beware!
Doesn’t always work as it should.
christasic on 2021-04-17
The step and exercise tracking doesn’t work well. I seem to always have to adjust something in my settings or it just doesn’t work. Supposedly the app goes through maintenance 2 a week that disables some features. I find this unacceptable and concerning. Why would features not work twice a week. My banking app only does this once a year at most. I paid for a service to save time and I waste so much time going thru my settings to make the app work correctly. Plus I also think My Fitness Pal may be installing malware or other unethical practices during “maintenance”.
