When I first heard about Revolut, I was ecstatic. I do a lot of large international transactions, and my normal bank is not cheap or easy to use. It costs me $70 per wire, they give 3-5% under market exchange, and force me to do all my wire transfers in person, during restrictive business hours. Revolut is the literal opposite of that.
After a few transactions, I knew Revolut was what I was looking for, and got premium. Totaling up the monthly fee, it is significantly less than I was paying in wire transfer fees, even when limited to £5,000 per transaction. I also get market rate exchange, which is substantial at the amounts I transfer. Everything is quick, and easy to do from my phone in a few minutes; a massive gain over spending upwards of an hour going to the bank and sitting through a slog of outdated paperwork practices. Time is more valuable than money.
I have yet to use other features such as the debit card, and I haven’t been on an overseas business trip with it yet, but I am looking forward to the flexibility yielded by the features of an online, international currency-friendly bank! The United States seems to be backwards with this kind of thing compared to other countries, so it is a refreshing change.
All above said, Revolut is not perfect. If you look at anywhere a review can be left, you will see an unending tide of customer support and account lock complaints, stating no support, no access to funds, etc for weeks to months. Very scary! I recently had my account restricted for the first time, and feared the worst. I reached out on every front, with strong demand for support. The in-app chat was unresponsive and gave me fear, but via their Facebook page, I received a human response; no bot, a real person. They assured me that everything would be handled through the in-app chat. Within a day, my issue was resolved, and I have access to my account back.
I point out the above experience because it seems that nobody who had an issue deigned to reply after their issue was resolved, or they didn’t actually follow the assistance provided them. Revolut’s customer support does work, it’s just slow right now. They are not trying to take your money, just maybe backed up, not set up right, I don’t know, but they WILL handle it within a reasonable timeframe.
I would love to give Revolut 5 stars for what they provide, and will probably come back to adjust my rating as such if their customer support improves down the line. I can tell they are trying, and I am happy to wait and see that happen. This is not for everyone, but for me it’s everything I could hope for in what I do.
EDIT: the customer support is honestly fine, less happy with constantly having to send financial documents. Also, their payment processor continues to refuse to execute my wire transfers and refuses to disclose why. The whole point for me is reliable wire transfers, and the delivery on the service is gone. Not pleased.
I am in Italy where this product would be a great help and convenience if it were possible to load money into the virtual card. I opened the account on May 2nd and transferred $20 to test how it works and found contactless payments to be superior to our primitive US cards which must be inserted into the payment terminals. Excellent! If there is no physical card, there is no possibility of skimming or reading the card details.
Unfortunately, it is now May 16th and I am no longer able to transfer funds into the card and the error message is that I have exceeded the limit of my card account. My debit card has a daily limit of $1500 and I have been able to transfer less than $100 since May 2nd. Customer Service is basically non-existent except for a childish chat bot which suggests I use a different (unavailable) method to top up the card.
I am offered the opportunity to upgrade to the premium version of the service but have no assurance it would would work any differently.
Revolut may be useful if only inside the United States but in Italy, it is simply frustrating and annoying. Even if I were back home, I would still have only the one method of topping up the card from my debit card account. I don’t actually see the point of a service that is so restrictive it can only be used upt to a limit of $100 and fails forever after. One Star is too many!
Они просто воруют твои Деньги это мошенники , оформил карту находясь в сша после того как пришла физическая карта в чёрном красивом конверте , стал использовать ее как дополнительную. Иногда совершая покупки в Валмарте, мелкие покупки на заправке, пополнял всегда по 100 долларов со своей карты оформленной в Сантандер банке, иногда совершал переводы на свою Российскую карту, тоже иочень маленькие суммы для погашения кредита 100-150 долларов .
Сначала Было несколько отказов в покупках когда покупал кофе в Бургер Кинге, потом были отказы когда покупал и якобы не соответствовало мое местоположение с их данными.
После того как я эту карту добавил в Аппл пей ее сразу заблокировали потребовав Внимание! Предоставить данные той карты с которой я пополнял ее постоянно на протяжении нескольких месяцев, то есть карты все данные карты Сантандер банка, совершенно другого банка. Повторюсь суммы были очень маленькие 100 долларов.
Никогда не пользуйтесь картой этого мошенника из России который оплатил интервью Осетинской для передачи «Русские норм», их компания идёт ко дну переехал их бизнес центров Великобритании в небольшой город Прибалтики, любимое место все прачечных банков для отмывания денег.

THERE IS NOTHING AMAZING ABOUT THEM AND ITS JUST A SIMPLE PREPAID CARD WITH SUCH A HIGH FEES PLUS YOU GET RUBBED EVENTUALLY. ALMOST EVERY TIME I TRIED TO USED THE CARD IT GOT DECLINED AND I HAD TO OPEN THE APP AND CONFIRM AND AGAIN TRY. UNLESS YOU LOOKING FOR TAKING 5 MINUTES AT CASHIER TO GET THIS CARD WORKS EVERY TIME, LOOK FOR ANOTHER GREAT CARDS THAT IS AVAILABLE AND WAY MORE CONVENIENCE. NOW NOT ONLY MY CARD GOT DECLINED AGAIN , THEY COMPLETELY SHUT OFF MY ACCOUNT AND I LEFT WITH NO MONEY SINCE I MADE A MISTAKE AND DEPOSITED ALL OF MY MONEY TO THIS ACCOUNT AND NOW IM SCREWED. THEY DONT HAVE A LIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE OR ANY PHONE NUMBER AND ONLY LET YOU TO SEND A MESSAGE AND IT SAYS TO WAIT 48 HOURS TO REVIEW. FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON I WAS LEFT WITH NO MONEY AND NOT BEING TO DO MY STUFF FOR 48HOURS OR WHATEVER IT TAKES THEM AND CANT DO ANYTHING ANOUT IT. JUST LOOK FOR ANOTHER SERVICE AND DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THESE SCAMMERS
This has to be the most frustrating application I’ve ever dealt with. I downloaded Revolut months ago and have only been able to add money about 5 times, although I have tried 47 times. More times than not the transaction gets declined. I was told to contact my bank, to which I did, just to be told that it’s on Revolut’s side. This persisted for a few weeks, until finally the allowed me to send money. Now that I miraculously was able to add money once, it was right back to not allowing me. Like I said, I have tried almost 50 times to add money, but simply cannot. The amount of hours I have spent with their customer support agents is ridiculous. I was planning to add a few thousand dollars into the account but after these past few months, I’ve successfully added about $200. Such a good concept for a company, but unfortunately it just doesn’t work. Maybe in a few years time Revolut will be a legitimate company and will take their customers more seriously.
The only way to contact a Revolut representative, is through the chat, in the app, there's NO phone number associated w/ them, that let's you speak to a live person! & the chat representatives, they respond whenever they want, which isn't often. The account is locked, so, I can't go into the settings, to adjust the notifications, to make sure that I am notified, whenever a chat does come through, therefore, I ALWAYS miss their responses! Not to mention, the responses are talking in circles, & not assisting, with the unlocking, of the account. My funds have been tied up, OVER A WEEK, though I sent all of the necessary documents, that they asked for. They will just take your money, & there won't be anything you can do, about it!!!
I’m currently traveling the EU and needed a simple and fast way to make purchases abroad and after trying other apps such as Transferwise and Xoom, I found Revolut way better with more features and customer service. Originally I opened the European version which did not work for US citizens but with money already deposited I thought it was a scam yet customer support was very helpful, pointed the direction I needed to take and refunded my deposit with ease. I now have the US version which lacks a little compared to the Euro version such as crypto currencies but it is still well worth it and hope to see that upgrade in the future. Regardless great app!! Keep up the good work Revolut!
Don’t be fooled by the fake reviews. Go on trust pilot or other websites and read for yourself. These guys are major scammers, they will open an account with you, make you do KYC and everything will be fine for a week, 2 weeks or a month and then one day BAM! “Card Suspended” their support takes A DAY to reply. It’s laughable. They give you all kinds of nonsense about “automated fraud systems”. In the end, they close your account and get this.....THEY KEEP YOUR MONEY!
It’s laughable, they have a slick app and marketing but at the end of the day REVOLUT ARE 2-BIT SCAMMERS.
1.After deactivating passcoode you cannot use app. Once you turn on passcode back it doesn't recognize your password. That's a huge problem. Only reinstalling app fix it.
Do something and fix the bug.
2. Trading stocks is good but very very limited. There are so many markets and stocks missing, only large caps on USA are available. Hopefully you should include other companies listed on exchange and also on other markets outside US.
Revolut required me to upload a copy of my license to verify my identity. After doing this the person who verified me seems to have changed my name to half my middle name and deleted my first name. It says I am verified but my name no longer is my name. Also it won’t allow me to deposit more than $20 even though I have been verified. Junk app so far. And hard to get customer support.
