This app is an emotional lifesaver. I never used to get frustrated over finding the remote, but after being home for the past couple months on quarantine I find this has become a pet peeve of mine.
Is it an inconvenience to search for the remote by looking under the sofa, chasing the puppy or questioning loved ones integrity by asking them to stand up to confirm they aren’t sitting on the remote? No matter how many times I ask for the remote to be put on the tv stand or side table it is an extremely outstanding request because it can never, ever, under any circumstances, happen.
If you come to my house and want to turn on the tv it is a chore. By the time you find the remote, the urge you had to be lazy and pig out in front of the tv is gone. You may even be sweating. Lord knows I am when I’m down the hunt. So I might as well go cut the grass or replace a light bulb or some other honey do nonsense.
I got this tv as a Father’s Day present and can’t ever watch it because everyone else is always on it. My wife watching twilight or vampire diaries for the millionth time, my son watching shows on Netflix that make me inwardly groan or my mother in law attempting to find something interesting that she found on her tv but can’t find on ours and it becomes a 30 minute affair.
I just want to sit down, turn on my tv and operate it. I haven’t tried the voice commands and could care less about them. I just praise the face that I can turn on the tv and can switch channels and apps now through my phone.
No more searching.
Thank you for this app that is literally changing my life.
I love you ❤️
I've used Roku TV's for some time now and the Roku TV app has never once let me down. The only issues I run into come when I either A) Move. or B) Cast to Roku.
The 2 features I would request that would give this must-download, a full 5 STARS would be- The Roku app only works AFTER a tv has been linked to Wi-Fi, so when the app is being used more than the remote, it's easy to lose said remote, and once that happens, there is no way (at least that I'm familiar with) to reconnect the phone if the Wi-Fi info or source changes. Suggestion, maybe allow for a wired remote connection through the USB port via lightning cable.
The second and final feature would be better formatting for casting to Roku. With competitors like Amazon, Samsung, and Apple in the 21st Century, there is no excuse for the lack of visual formatting options available from say, camera roll. Other than that- 5/5 the day I see those happen.
I bought a Roku stick for travel and trying to limit what I bring with me on trips I decided to use the remote feature on the roku app. Bad idea. I can’t use the app to connect the roku stick to the wifi. The app/mobile unit and stick have to be on the same wifi to use the remote feature on app, and in order to connect the roku stick to the wifi I have to have the physical remote. There is a work around, but you have to have a mobile hot spot and have a second mobile device to use as a remote app. Although I didn’t try it, so who knows if that actually works. It means in the future I have to bring the physical roku remote with me too, and then honestly what’s the stupid app for?
No support for landscape mode is nuts and renders the app nearly useless.
Keyboard support could be great for anyone (including my 82 year old Mom) who has tried and failed to use rokus onscreen keyboard (or per app implementation?). In any case, it pushes chars too quickly and overruns the keyboard buffer, try a paste of 4 or more chars from a password mgr ... Confuses chars, loses its place in the buffer (I understand why, but hey, use a real API vs a keyboard stuffing hack, this *is* all roku properties right?)
Personal listening feature is super handy. App just needs some good product objectives to make it usable.
This is such an annoying app. Just recently I had my Roku remote battery died , and so as you know, I decided to download the app instead. Firstly, I was already hesitant with this about, knowing it would give me this bull crap that it’s giving me now. Literally every 4 seconds this sh** disconnects! Like wth??! I legit can’t even skip a stupid ad because of this app. In the world? My TV IS ON!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO POWER SOMETHING THATS ALL READY ON?!!!!!
I can’t wait to get a new battery! UGH JEEZ MAN!
This app is awesome I have a Roku tv in the living room and a roku stick in my bedroom. With the actually remote u have to point it to the sensor witch can get annoying put with this app you can point wherever and it will work also you can put the sound to your phone so at night a i can have my AirPods on and hear the TV!!! This app is awesome 10/10 recommend
I love the app it functions well and overall it’s a good app, my only issue lies in the 7.0.0 update, when this update went live I saw a lot of great changes with the app, it wasa really good improvement overall, HOWEVER when this update happened, they took out the main reason why I used this app, the headphone functionality. Other than that this apps good
Frequent crashes interrupt private listening or close app entirely when using with Streaming Stick or Express devices (listening is an ongoing issue; the crashes are new). Might be related to Prime Video freezing often, even when Netflix runs just fine on same Roku devices. I like your system/content usually, so please figure this out. Thanks.
i love this! i’m always losing my remote and now i don’t have to worry about not being able to watch tv! i love how i can watch on my phone anywhere i go! i love how you can watch on your tv but the volume can come from your phone it’s perfect if you don’t have the best hearing! 10/10 would definitely recommend it’s so cool!
i’ve used almost every earbuds i have and i still got the same issue. when i hook the tv up with my phone so i can listen with my earbuds after 5ish minutes it gets so staticky. i have to exist the app and reopen it for it to work. homeboy, you gotta fix this. it’s not cute lol. i’m just tryna watch gaming vids in peace.
