I am a pay to play gamer
King0game5 on 2020-04-10
I am one of those people who wants to play basic scrabble. I am also a pay to play gamer on a few apps. I understand the company needs to have engaging cash content. If there were less animations and BEE ESS, taking less of my time, id play more. There’s just so much fluff, opening boxes and getting prizes, then the ads pop up. Time is money. Waste my time i won’t play or pay. Make the game, and save me time, i will pay for simple additional features like playing with friends, no ads, or bonus content. I’ve paid for risk, Pokémon go, and and more. They were well made stand alone, but i wanted bonus content. It was not currency based content. Scrabble go wants me to pay for diamonds so I can compete in leagues. Currency based play. As a stand alone, the game has too many animations, as it tries to entice me into the currency system. It is insulting to my intelligence. I won’t be buying anything from this app anytime soon. Ill just be playing basic (SLOW) scrabble.
A cacophony of bells and whistles

I rarely write negative reviews, but this is the most annoying app I’ve ever downloaded. I discovered Scrabble Go after fleeing the over-the-top gimmicks of Words With Friends. What I found was far worse — a clown car of desperate animations that tries its hardest to force you to do anything but play the games. Even when launching the app, if you don’t opt to connect to Facebook, you must wait until the Guest button is enabled. During game play — even in the classic Scrabble mode — you are constantly interrupted by random animations. There is no way to turn these off or even skip them once they start. You must sit, Clockwork Orange-style, and take your punishment. I understand that Scopely has to make money, but I would gladly pay for a stripped down, plain version of classic Scrabble. No bells, no whistles. As it is, I’ll be deleting this app and trying to wipe the nightmares from my head.
Visually and conceptually awful.

After enjoying the old EA/Hasbro Scrabble app for years to play against friends and strangers, I’m being pushed to this app as its replacement. The EA app wasn’t perfect but was pretty great, especially compared to this monstrosity here. Visually it’s a mess of sensory overload, clearly build by somebody who has absolutely no idea what kind of person plays scrabble. A nonstop barrage of ads, insistent requests for consent to share Facebook and Contacts data and receive notifications, and far too many dumb, ugly, non-scrabble add-on bits that only make it difficult to a) find my way back to the game I was in the middle of and b) actually play scrabble. Why do I need to receive a prize of gems AND treasure chests AND collectible cards when I play a good turn? I already get points! Points are what you earn in scrabble, not gems. Get that garbage out of there, or I’m out of here.
Cluttered crazy mess

Why have you ruined a simple game? This UI is so full of chaotic nonsense that it’s almost hard to figure out how to start a simple game with a friend. Adding prizes (for what?) and asking for access to my contacts when I’ve already said no repeatedly, trying to get me to play games with strangers, rotating giant animations all over the place? None of that is scrabble. For all of the EA game’s faults, at least you could just play a game of scrabble. I’m really annoyed that we are being driven to this disaster and not given any other choices. And although the developer keeps responding to reviews saying they’re continuing to improve, I seriously doubt they’re willing to improve by taking out most of the garbage they’ve added in.
Not scrabble.

There is a fabulous thinking strategy word game called scrabble. This is not that. In scrabble you don’t earn diamonds, get awards rewards etc. this application was appears to have been made by people who don’t understand what scrabble is. For years I refused to play words with friends because it wasn’t scrabble. When the scrabble application Sunset’s there will be no scrabble, only this video game. Also $60/year to get rid of the lengthy ads? I might be tempted to pay that price for a real scrabble game but not this. Even for real scrabble that would be abusive. What are they thinking? How Friday Hasbro end up giving this publisher the rights to publish this game. They have all gotten a brain parasite in my opinion.
Obnoxious version of scrabble
Monk money on 2020-04-10
I love scrabble and enjoyed EA version every day. I hate this one! The “rewards” and graphics are overstimulating and obnoxious. Please make a version that is “classic” for those of us that don’t enjoy rainbow diamond bs interrupting our game play. *Edit to add: I tried the classic version on this app, still way too much “graphic” interference. Boo. Even after playing several games with several people, I really dislike this format. I’m also irritated that it forfeits your games if you don’t play within some unspecified time frame, even if no one asks for it to be forfeited, which is not mentioned anywhere in the “how to play” intro. I am so desperate to just keep the EA version which was way better!
Horrible version of Scrabble
Hate Scopely on 2020-04-10
I absolutely HATE the Scopely version of Scrabble! We loved the simple classic game and I was fine with a few Ads, in fact I even responded to a few of them. Don’t these people know who their audience and loyal users were? Really? Instead of a relaxing game with a glass of wine now we have the Chucky Cheese version of our favorite winery. I want some relaxation not added stress to my life. I’m done, I don’t need a bazillion bells, whistles, gimmicks and garbage. I want to play Scrabble with my wife when I’m on the road, not with a bunch of strangers! And I sure don’t care about winning a jewel or badge or whatever crap they’ve thrown in front of us. HORRIBLE, I’m off to something else.
Too much clutter

Constant crashes
myname2019 on 2020-04-10
Scrabble used to be a relaxing, fun board game. The problem with so many apps is the developers try to pack as much into it as possible, usually driven by advertising or pay (more) to play. This app has so much bouncing around on the screen, do this try this go here, blah blah, after not too long it’s just annoying. This app is candy crush for scrabble fans. Coupled with the constant crashing, especially in duels, and when there’s an ad trying to load. Opponents can, it seems, just disconnect from a losing game forcing your app to hang (more than one occurrence of this) and forfeit when you get bored with waiting. Overall, thumbs down obviously
Not a fan of this app
Little Q 85 on 2020-04-10
I have played words with friends for quite a few years and wanted to switch to Scrabble since that allows words than the “off brand” does. I’ve only had it for about five hours and I am so confused when trying to play just one game. There are so many bells & whistles and it’s not my cup of tea. I just wanted to play classic scrabble with my uncle (who doesn’t play Words with Friends) and some other friends/family members. I understand that you want people to play on your app than with WwF and you’re going to try to sway people. I guess I’ll just stick with the classic Scrabble via the board game version instead.
