I don’t know if this disfunction is related to the particular phone (iPhone XR) that I am using Signal on now or if it is the same on other phones, but the “cursor” control on Signal is a disaster now. It is a nightmare trying to move the cursor to where you want it, or to highlight a specific section of your message. I am completely unable to move the cursor more than a couple lines away from its current location at a time (and the text window doesn’t extend to more than 4 lines tall), so i have to scroll a couple lines away, click somewhere to move the cursor in the direction of where i want it to go, and repeat over and over again until it finally Then I tried to send a big file and it has a limiter on it now. So I had to go to Telegram for large file transfers If i try to move it further than that, the window just jumps back to the area where it is currently located and moves it to some random location nearby. Highlighting a portion of your message is impossible; it jumps from one end of the message to the other and will not allow you to scroll slowly to where you want to stop highlighting. It is so stupid ~ I recommend typing messages in another app and then pasting it into signal when you are done. Also, FYI, if you want to copy text from a signal message, hold your finger on the message and then click on the little icon at the bottom of the screen that looks like two pieces of paper - nothing will ever appear that says “copy”.
I’ve been using Signal for quite a while and for me it is a crucial app because I am an advocate and I’m trying to help families that are in danger
now every message I try to send on signal I’m being asked every time I try to send a message to verify my Signal
every single time every single message
when I asked signal for help and I click on the link it takes me to an email…
when I get to the email and I submit my request for help they tell me not to submit a request via email they told me to go back to the app
and so I go back to the app and try to submit a request that then takes me to an email link and it goes around and around and around it’s a vicious cycle that never stops.
and you get no help it goes around and around and around meanwhile my families in danger these messages are time sensitive and my families cannot receive my messages
who will help me???
there are no humans responding
all I’m getting are robotic responses that are not helping me I need assistance for this serious situation
how do I reach the website developer???? does anybody know how I can actually talk to a human being I’m all ears.
This app needs to be edited so that the administrator/creator of a group can select multiple people to remove from the group at once. Another much needed feature is for the administrator/creator to be able to delete all the old messages in a group from EVERYONE. That way, certain chats can be set up one time and then easily maintained by removing temporary members & outdated irrelevant messages WITHOUT deleting entire chat—only to have to set up another chat afterwards with the same group name—and then having to invite all the permanent members again and wait for them to accept etc. Also I don’t know why the app doesn’t easily detect all contacts from my phone Contacts when building groups and adding members. It easily detects some Contacts, but not all. The ones who aren’t detected by name, I have to look for their phone number, type the phone number into the Signal search field. It becomes cumbersome when we are building a dozen or more chats with the same 30 people in each chat. Hope the developers can offer an update with these features soon. Thank you!
I’ve used Signal for years and recommended it to others. Unfortunately I can only recommend the iOS app to people who are ok randomly losing their entire message history. There is no way to back it up or otherwise export it.
There is apparently a bug in my app version and I can’t open the app. This means my choices are:
* wait for a fix with zero information on how long that will take or if it will ever come and hope that updating will let me open the app again
* reinstall the app and lose my entire message history.
In the meantime, people who message me have no way to see that I’m not getting their messages, so it looks like I’m ignoring them. I can’t see the contacts or the message history so I can’t see who to tell to contact me a different way.
Worked great while it worked. Didn’t realize that the design meant that situations like this were likely.
I have an account associated with my phone number, but don’t use my signal account and don’t have it on my phone anymore. Any of my friends who have set signal as their default text messaging app can no longer text me because it goes to a signal account black hole as I am not signed in and will no be able to view previous messages.
There is no option to change the contact preference (sms vs signal) per contact on the signal app, even if it has taken over as the manager of both sms and signal messages. If the recipient has a signal account associated with the phone number, it forces the message to go through signal. Huge issue for me!
I’d donate and support IF it were more reliable for one thing. I talk to three people by signal. Why? Either they install it and we can’t find each other, that’s the big issue. If I could do most of my messaging on Signal, I would and I’d support it too, but that’s not the case. I keep trying to get friends to use it but they get frustrated and quit. Other people it’s never had even a hiccup. Improve its functionality and I’ll get more people on it.
And why don’t you tell us what the check marks mean?
One check clear
Two checks clear
What the heck does it mean. You should be able to touch them to find out.
HelloI have three suggestions:
1) Add 1-2 lines to the message box. It’s so freaking small and hard for those with vision issues to see (Imagine looking at the message box with bi/tri focal glasses.)
2) Re-orient all the little icons to below the message box, including the “Stickers” icon. There’s hardly any space in the message box as it is presently formatted.
3) The “Return Key” disappears when you add a picture PRIOR to typing your message. This is annoying because one is left with only the “Space Bar” to add a new line.
Thank you for taking my suggestions into consideration! jwb
I live in a different country from the rest of my family, and I have been looking for an app that lets me do video calls with my family. As simple as that. Just an app that lets me do video calls and that works. I feel like I’ve tried them all, and I’m really ready to give up.
As far as signal goes, it has the same problem. As almost every other app I’ve tried, the video is lagging, there are cuts in the audio, and after a little the audio and the video are not synchronized on the feed of the person I’m talking to.
Why is it so hard to find a functional app to do video calls with in 2022?
With iOS 16, users cannot add pictures from the new, locked Hidden folders app.
The long, drawn out workaround is:
1) Unlock and unhide the photo(s) of choice.
MAKE SURE TO NOTE the date of your pic(s) - it will be easier to find.
2) Look for and attach the photo(s).
3) Hide the the image(s).
Adding a picture first will remove the “return” button from the keyboard and you have just the “space” bar to use to add another line.
AND, the message window does not expand like iMessage or this suggestion box.
Apparently my MacBook has been unlinked for 2months. (I only use my MacBook Air to send) It took me 2 days (30 minutes of work) to get it to link. I had to delete the application: Through the applications list in finder. And reinstall. Then you have the impression to look for the name of the device in signal, but it’s not there until you click on the name they have made up. Now my MacBook Air is listed in linked devices twice one works the other doesn’t. Very confusing process. If your not computer literate you’ll never get there.
