Skype keeps the world talking. Say “hello” with an instant message, voice or video call – all for free*, no matter what device they use Skype on. Skype is available on phones, tablets, PCs, and Macs. • Video calls – Don’t just hear the cheers, see them! Get together with 1 or 24 of your friends and family on a HD video call. Watch everyone’s smiles and cries when you tell them “We’re engaged!!!"  • Chat – Reach people instantly. Send messages to your friends, grab someone’s attention with @ mentions, or create a group chat to plan a family reunion.  • Share – Send photos and videos with your family and friends. Save shared photos and videos to your camera roll. Share your screen to make travel plans with friends or present designs to your team. • Voice calls – Camera shy? Make voice calls to anyone in the world on Skype. You can also call mobile and landlines at low rates. • Express yourself – Liven up conversations with emoticons, click on the “+” in chat to send a Giphy or images from the web, and annotate images with words, lines and more. *Skype to Skype calls are free. Operator data charges may apply. We recommend using an unlimited data plan or WiFi connection. Call landline and mobile phone numbers and send SMS messages anywhere in the world at affordable prices using Skype. Reach non-Skype users or contacts who are not online by choosing Skype Credit or Skype subscriptions.    Choose Skype Credit as a pay-as-you-go option to call and SMS. If you call specific destinations, save even more with monthly subscriptions. Skype subscriptions are monthly calling plans that let you make unlimited, or fixed-minute calls to landlines (and mobiles where applicable). Subscriptions begin at $2.99 a month for US, and can vary by destination. To make an in-app purchase, open the app, go to the Call tab, and tap on the Skype to Phone banner. Skype Credit and Subscriptions purchased from the Skype app will be charged to your iTunes account when the purchase is confirmed.   Your account will be charged for Skype subscription renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. Your subscription is renewed automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period of subscription.   You can manage your subscription by going to your Apple ID account settings and choosing the auto-renewal option or turning it off any time after your purchase.   • Privacy and Cookies policy: • Microsoft Services Agreement:

Personal gripes with how it works
Murderous duck floatie on 2020-04-10
My biggest complaint is that anyone in the chat can do whatever they want with it. One person can start a group, and another person can change the name, picture, group members, etc. Which means anyone who wants to be annoying can just remove people for “a joke” or whatever. Anyone can kick you from the call or the group, no matter who that person is, or whether they’re toxic or not. I tolerate them because they’re not all bad, but then they pull something where they try to remake the group, and remove anyone who disagrees. Only the one who made the group should be able to remove people from the call/group, and edit it in any way. I know that isn’t the app’s fault, it’s the person’s, and that the typical advice is “just don’t interact with that person” but in this situation that’s not possible. It’s a group where everyone is at. The entire “friend group”. While a new group can be made, there’s nothing stopping the same thing from happening again/continuously. Please add a function where only the group maker can screw with the settings, thank you.
Contact blocked by skype
gerti1234567890 on 2020-04-10
I use Skype Credit to make international overseas phone calls since here in USA long distance lines are very expensive with the country that i get in touch with. I m trying like 10-15 deferent phone numbers and I got like 2 through able to make phone call all others were like blocked by Skype?!?!?!?!? This is outrageous!!!!! So Skype says I will decide who you going to call cuz some of them i will block!!!!!! On top of that there is no contact number to talk to the costumer service from Skype. I am the one who suggested package and subscription to Skype and so i am regretting it. Skype you all are failing. I thought you were supposed to connect people.
I hate Microsoft.
Get Microsoft out of Skype on 2020-04-10
I had to use Skype for a work thing because of coronavirus. First it wouldn’t let me recover my old account. Then when I FINALLY made a new account it told me that it will not work on my chromebook. It would not let me delete my account either since I wasn’t on a Microsoft computer. So then I tried it on my phone. I once again tried to recover my old account. It would not let me. So I tried to make a new account. Once again no luck. I wish Microsoft hadn’t bought Skype. The reason I originally stopped using Skype was because Microsoft bought it. I will never use this again if I don’t have to.
Needs updates !!
Ore124 on 2020-04-10
Skype has been around for years without any major updates. There are newer applications such as discord and zoom who came who are already more advanced even though they came way after. My biggest concern is the lack of features with the camera, more specifically a zoom in feature. I want to be able to zoom in and out while using my rear camera to show something instead of having to move myself. The calls also end unexpectedly by themselves. Other than that the Application is still good. But due to its lack of improvement over the years I’ve switched to zoom and discord.
Convoluted and unclear
Janusz3 on 2020-04-10
I used to use Skype years ago when it was predominantly a texting app, and I’m not sure what went wrong. In this new version, adding new people is convoluted—do I text them? Why isn’t it working? Do I send a QR code? How do I teach my grandmother what a QR code is? After 45 minutes of trying to hamfistedly connect with someone—both through QR code and through synced address books—to no avail, we gave up and uninstalled this unintuitive disaster. I’m sticking with FaceTime, and if my contacts don’t have an iPhone, that’s too bad. I won’t be using this again.
How to get credit?????
80south on 2020-04-10
What a useless design in the app when you try to order credit it just says “your order was unsuccessful” without any mention of what went wrong or how to fix it. I went to Microsoft Live to make sure my payment method was up-to-date. It is. Still doesn’t work. Then the Microsoft advice for getting credit says to follow the prompts to use the App Store to buy credit. There are no prompts. Nor does there seem to be a way to buy credit in live ms live store. Who designs this thing? Works for calls until you need more credit and there is no way to buy it.
403 error with Google
AstralDarkstar on 2020-04-10
Trying to log in with Google and I keep getting an error with logging in with a Google account. This option should either be removed or you should work with Google to get this working. I’m not going to use a web browser to troubleshoot or fix the issue. It needs to all work from the app. And when it doesn’t work and gives an error, there’s no go back button. I have to force close the app just to start over. Getting started on using your for the first app should be very important. People will give up if it’s not easy to get started.
Skype blocked a contact mobile number from other country
Carlotota* on 2020-04-10
I have been using Skype for many years. Since my mother doesn’t have internet access I have been purchasing credit to call her mobile number. Well a month ago Skype decided to block her number. The message I received when I call is “contact blocked by Skype”. I already tried to see contacts I blocked and my mother is not in that list. I confirmed my caller ID. My internet connection is great. I tried to talk to someone from Skype and that was not an option. I guess that now with the pandemia that is impossible.
Notifications on But doesn’t show.
NathansPROPs on 2020-04-10
Been using Skype for years and the app as well but for a couple of months now, it’s not dinging me or showing me someone messaged me with the 1 in the red circle. I have all of the alerts for the notifications on all of them. And I have to manually go in the app and check to see if someone messaged me. I have heard the dings occasionally but the ringing for like voice calls works and video calls. It’s just the messages and if someone called that isn’t showing up. Anyone else experiencing this?
Skype officials listen up!
Uggg h on 2020-04-10
I have been using Skype for over two years now and this is just sad that your app can’t even do what it was designed for! It won’t let me have video calls, and won’t let me answer incoming calls! Not to forget that it doesn’t notify me of any incoming calls! My Boyfriend and I use this to communicate for face to face calls and the fact that we can’t even do that with an app intended for this kind of communication is absolutely ridiculous! Your app needs a major update and it needs it now!
