Seriously?

A monthly subscription for a weather app. We’ve reached new lows in society. I wanted to check out where the lightning was in my area because I received an alert from this app. To my surprise I was locked out of the very function I was just alerted about. Primary use of the lightning function would be for SAFETY. Out of an abundance of caution, I wanted to see what direction the strikes came from so I could get out of the giant open field I was standing in with my dog. Bottom line, you shouldn’t have to pay for safety, and it’s obvious STORM and The Weather Channel don’t care about your safety and just want your money. Do yourself a favor and go download Weather Live, they aren’t charging for lightning strike functions.
Still a Downgrade

Forced to download this app, Ive now used it for two weeks and am sorry to say it is just no good compared to the original Storm. I’ve since downloaded WeatherBug and after learning to navigate (which was easy) Im sticking with it. My main dissatisfaction is the graphics (satellite imagery is dark & dull), choice of information (you cant have precip AND wind AND earthquake data at the same time, but must go back & forth). Earthquake data was so cool on the previous version, and you always knew of activity immediately. Too bad as the previous Storm was my favourite and I know others I shared it with are unhappy with the change. So...for those of you finding Storm Radar frustrating, give WeatherBug a try!!
When it works, it’s fair; mostly it doesn’t.

It does seem to work better on an iPhone than an iPad, but the hourly temp/wind page will not update on either unless you go to several other locations other than the one you’ve been on (and want to update). Ditto, the daily forecast: it will eventually update, but not when a new forecast is issued, only many hours later. The iPad version typically will not display anything in the data block beyond the current and forecast temperature and current wind. If you tap on it to get more information it displays “LABEL” in all the blocks. The previous version of this app, “Storm,” was wonderful. “Storm Radar” has been a disappointment since launch.
Great reference

I love this app to show me the weather where I am as well as around others I care for. I’m not sure if there is a configuration setting that has changed, but I no longer seem to be getting the weather fronts displayed. That is helpful to weather geeks like myself, to know what is coming. Update: 2/2020 - exceedingly disappointed with this app now. I must have received another update and lost ALL my settings and saved / favorite places - AGAIN! Come on Weather Channel - how hard is it to preserve the settings that your users spend valuable time configuring only to have it all blown away with an update?
App has been crashing every since IOS 13 update when trying to view “Special Weather Statement”

Since this app and “The Weather Channel” app seem to be all connected, and since I cannot even open the “WC” app anymore to report a problem I’ll take care of both here. The Weather Channel app crashes anytime I try to open it now and Storm Radar crashes when I try to open the notifications that it sends me about Special Weather, which in my mind is something I really need to know about. I don’t know who’s at fault- this app or Apple but I wouldn’t use either of these till this is fixed. It does see to be a issue since the IOS updates though and yes I’m up to date on the new IOS versions.
Ruined. Used to by my favorite.

I hate what this app has become. This was my absolute favorite go to app. It was data strong and accurate. Now it’s a crashing broken shell of its former self. I had paid for the app back when it was the old developers. It was so much better then. Now most content is a much higher and reoccurring fee. But the app crashes constantly. Stuff doesn’t load. So much of what made this app phenomenal is gone or changed. So now I’m looking for something else after years of nearly exclusively using this app. Bummer.
Fantastic weather app

This is a fantastic app, I’ve been using it since before the weather channel acquired it. Back when it was known as “Intellacast” which was a great app then, and it was trusted enough that a friend of mine that was one of the big shots at the Air National Guard in Columbus, Ohio. And he was the one that turned me on to Intellacast that’s now known as “STORM” from weather channel. So I figure if it’s good enough for our boys in the air national guard it’s good enough for the rest of us.
Best weather app on the App Store, if all you want is the weather

This app give you a good and simple to read radar as soon as you open the app. You can easily change locations and get a more detailed readout. The map is also very customizable! From winds to tropical storms....even snowfall, lighting and every storm watch and warning. Very detailed but still easy to read. The only thing missing is wind gust. It gives you forecasted winds but not gust. Unless there is a wind warning for your area, it won’t give gusting wings.
Shameful

In agreement with all the other one star ratings. Once was a five star until that fateful update. It constantly forgets I have a subscription, so it opens full of ads until I "restore purchases" from the menu. The various weather indicator icons should display more information when you tap them, but on iPad the whole map just flickers and the little info window immediately vanishes. Plus just general loss of features after the change.
Pay to play
DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on 2020-02-24
Some of the features that I really loved about this app, like the storm tracks with detailed information and lightning strike data, are now only accessible in the paid version. Like the weather underground app, all useful features are gradually being made premium-only. This is a shame, as this used to be one of my most-used apps. Maybe I’d pay up, but $20 a year for something that used to be free doesn’t feel right.
