This whole series is incredible. The puzzles are challenging without being overly frustrating. I’ve always loved puzzle mysteries/escape room type games and these are by far my favorite. There are hints should you find yourself stuck or if you happen to miss something, but you don’t have to click on them and read them if you don’t want to. And while each game in the series is built on “contraption puzzles” they are all different. I never felt like it was the same game each time. The puzzles are all different enough to keep you on your toes.
Old Sins is the fourth in the series that I have played and even though it is a mobile game, it’s just as good as the previous installments on the PC/Switch. Play/Controls are easy with each game whether it’s with a game controller, mouse, or touch screen (as with Old Sins).
I hope they continue to make more in the series or at least more games like it with the same caliber. This developer knows what they’re doing!
I do suggest playing The Room I, II, & III first before Old Sins. It is well worth it!
Old Sins just might be my favorite of the Room series! Defintely an easier grasp on the context in the overall scenario, yet full of clever challenges that still require a keen sense. I gladly purchased all of the series, as I believe, all things considered, from graphics, to the puzzles, to storyline, The Room remains at the top of the game, no pun intended. If these types of games are you thing, this will surely not disappoint. Cant wait until the games are out of my head so that I can play them all again!
Update: Played it again and thoroughly enjoyed it! Im very much hoping we get more “The Room”s from Fireproof, I will Gladys fork over the money!
I have played all “room” games , and the graphics and sound effects are incredible.
I always find the stories hard to follow. I play on my phone and sometimes the text is impossible to read between the darkness of the game and font size. Luckily you don’t have to follow the “plot” to enjoy the puzzles.
I found the variety of puzzle styles to become repetitive a bit. Often you can brute force the answer simply by messing around with things enough and the “object of figuring it out” is lost.
Overall an amazing experience.
For those of us that grew up on MYST this is right up our alley in terms of what we want from a brain game.
You might say that I’m a bit “cheap” but I’ve alway counted on freebies for my games. The entire “Room” series has been an exception. I’ve purchased all of them and I can definitively say that I got my money’s worth. Fantastic graphics and sound. Hope there will be more in the future. For now, I am still returning to them, over and over. You forget some of the details and, the second time around or third, there are still challenges. Kudos to the creators and developers.
My daughter and I played this game together, and we both enjoyed all the elements of the game! It was challenging and we explored at times without knowing where to go, but we also never stayed stuck too long as they offer clues throughout. This was our first to play. I think it would have been fun to understand the overarching story, so we’re excited to find out more about the series and see if there is more backstory.
Another AMAZING game in The Room series. The optics, intrigue and attention to detail continue to leave me flabbergasted at the sheer talent and creativity of this company. I can only imagine how much time it takes to conceive of and develop each puzzle. Forget what those nitpicking reviewers say. I’d like to see them do it better. It’s not possible. Looking forward to the next installment.
Since this game’s first title it has delivered an amazing experience. This game embodies a thrilling element of mystery and challenges. I love the gameplay and I am fully engaged in the story. Each puzzle is gripping and leaves the player hungry for more. I hope the developers continue with the game series and I will definitely get the next title with no hesitations.
Brilliant visuals; some of the best I've seen on the iPad. Challenging puzzles without ever being arbitrary, so when the solution comes you never feel cheated. And all tied together in an intertwined, engrossing, atmospheric story. Plays equally well as possibly my favorite entry in the Room Series or independently as one's first foray into the genre.
Cost 2.5x of The Room 3, but I beat it in less than half the time. I would have liked to have seen more gameplay, alternate endings like saving one or both of the people, or destroying the null instead of returning it. This was definitely fun, and I appreciate the quality of the puzzles,... just not the same value for the price as #3.
I have played several different escape rooms. Most are easy, some so hard it almost forces you to buy “hints”. Not the Room. Beautifully done, artfully masterful, witty, and challenging. Even when I played through a second time I was still challenged to figure out the puzzles. I ca summarize my feelings on this groups’ game apps: MORE!
