I never really had issues with this app until recently when I placed an order from a restaurant that had a BOGO promotion. I was initially billed correctly and everything was fine. When I received my order, I was missing two sides that totaled only $1.75. When I reached out to simply submitted that issue, the rep refunded me $29, which I thought was very weird because the total cost of my food was $34.16. I didn’t mind it at first, but then saw I received an adjusted bill with a total cost of $89 with the readjusted $29, which resulted in a $34.14 and $54 charge to my credit card. When I reached out, EVERY SINGLE person that response to the chat (because there is a different person that answers EVERY TIME), I am being told that it is an “authorized hold” when I know definitely it is not. When I asked them to thoroughly review my original receipt with the tip, I get the SAME response. I asked to get a customer service number to speak with a representative and no one has replied. I disputed the charge with my credit card company and Uber is making me pay again before I use the app. This is a shameful act by a greedy company. UPDATE: so Uber’s response to the complaint above is to reach out to the same support team that I’ve been reaching out for over a week to solve the issue that hasn’t been resolved yet. This shows how much they care. The current status: customer service still states my double charge is an authorized hold (it’s not) and they have stopped responding to my pushback..

**update** I received a response from Apple saying the app developer responded to my review. It seemed like they wanted to help resolve my issue, but no direct contact information to get the help. I am tired of continually emailing the “help” link (which was the only contact info included in the email) and getting a different person every time, and they do not actually help me! I did it twice and no help, and that’s why I’m submitting this review. ** I placed and then canceled an order literally 30 seconds after I placed the order. The reason I cancelled was I did not see that the order said “for pick-up” and I wanted delivery. I didn’t even know that when ordering through Uber eats there are other options?? I’ve never seen that before. Anyways, they said the restaurant had already started making the order and that’s why I was still charged. This was completely false because I called the restaurant a few minutes later and they had not started making the order and received the cancellation successfully. I submitted for help through the app and I received an email that, as a courtesy, I would receive a refund. It’s been two weeks and no refund. I submitted for help again only to get an email saying they issued the refund and I need to check with my bank. My bank, obviously has not received anything. Uber is being very deceitful and likely has fraudulently received millions of dollars because of situations like this. I will not use them ever again.

I’ve only ordered through Uber Eats a couple of times, in part because I use a few different food delivery apps. Out of the three times I’ve ordered recently, two of them went unfulfilled. In both cases, the app just kept pushing the “expected delivery time” back—the first time, for over two hours. Each time, the app tried to charge me exorbitant fees to cancel my order. The first time, I was able to reach support and get it taken care of (after waiting for two hours.) This time, I couldn’t get through to anyone, and had to just call the restaurant and ask them not to fulfill the order if a driver ever showed up. Now I’m just hoping that I don’t get charged anyway. I’ve deleted both Uber Eats and Uber after these experiences, because customer service should be easily accessible and high fees for something that isn’t my fault are unfair. (I can’t help but wonder, what if this wasn’t just an issue with a food order? What if I were in an Uber ride and felt unsafe?) And, honestly, those things are worse than the app just stating that it can’t fulfill orders at this time. I live in a small city, so it makes sense that there won’t always be drivers out late in the evening. I’d rather just know that I need to start cooking instead of waiting so long for nothing and being charged for the app’s inability to work properly.

Missing or wrong items happen. But guess what? When you pay extra for things to be there, they should be there. That falls on the communication between Uber and the restaurant. If I’m paying $7 for a pint of ice cream that isn’t there, things should be made right. If that’s the driver going back, the restaurant fixing it, I don’t know. What I do know is that Uber is awful and will give you the run around. I was noted for filing too many concerns. I’ve filed 3 in the past 6 months. For substantial things that should be reimbursed. I had the last straw when they refused to do anything about a burrito bowl ordered with steak and carnitas (extras of both) and no steak. It’s $8. Sorry but Uber isn’t getting any more of my money. They refused to answer a phone, emails, and said there is nothing more they could do. I filed a complaint with my bank and I’m done with Uber. If you’re willing to lose a loyal member for $8 then bye. Deleted and done with them and their awful policies. The way they treat customers is abhorrent. And if you’re thinking - wow that’s a lot to write about $8, add it up. Give or take over 4 total messed up orders about $25-30. Are you willing to work minimum wage for 4 hours to cover their bs errors? No. I’m Not either.
Uber engineer delays

In reality Uber eats sufficiently creates a well balanced menu, in creation to its partners/venders. Unfortunately venders and the sub category app aren’t consistent with menu items, bringing purchasable items to and overall over priced unit of product. I’ve noticed the difference within the time to night items at all times being non comparable with self purchasable items. (I literally mean me driving and buying the item myself) to further explain I don’t mean paying the associated fees beckoning my laziness to buy an item, I literally mean the items do not compare to the purchasing items available with the vender they’ve selected to use. The item during a day will be less and a combo is available in the night to be more pricey and connect be combined with items it would normally be bought with. The items do not become combos within a time slot of purchase this fails the app and the venders that use this product because over pricing diminishes the overall use of the app. You still need to work towards a better help desk and vender selection when it comes to real purchase product.
Ubereat pass option just vanished within the app

Hi, My girlfriend has first started using the eatpass subscription back when she was in San Diego, CA. Then she moved to Atlanta, GA, but since she first activated the eatpass in California. The eatpass option just vanished from the profile list when the address is switched to Atlanta. There is simply no way to purchase Uber eatpass in Atlanta. However, when the delivery address was switched back to California, Washington, or even New York State address. She can purchase the eatpass again and there is simply one more tab at the bottom of the app saying “eatpass” displaying a message “claim your eatpass”. This is honestly super weird, seeming that she is attached to some specific cities. But I personally could purchase a eatpass in Atlanta using my own account. So I don’t know when she can’t purchase eatpass in Atlanta. The option just vanished from the app. We have tried reboot the phone, delete the app and reinstall, and basically everything like clearing the cache. But nothing really works, please help or let me know if this is a bug.

I ordered from the app and my delivery time kept changing 5 times and said my food would be delivered in 2 hours so I canceled my order and ubereats charge me $49.82 to cancel and said they can’t refund me my money because I didn’t cancel with in 5 mins. And they didn’t even read what I said they just answered to answer. They were very dismissive towards the situation and my feelings. They wanted me wait 2 hours for my food ubereats doesn’t care for their customers only themselves that’s why I deleted my account and never using them again because I have never felt so disrespected as a customer if I tell you I had to cancel because my promise delivery time kept changing don’t tell me that I can’t get my money back because I didn’t cancel within 5mins because that just shows that you don’t care about me as a customer why charge me such a ridiculous amount to cancel because I shouldn’t have to wait 2 hours for my food and I shouldn’t have to pay 49.82 to cancel something because the promise time of my delivery kept changing 5 times.
They stole $130 from me!

We chose to order a big bday dinner for my husband and myself since we are fostering a preemie and can’t leave the house. The order was not even enough food to feed one person so I called the restaurant. The manager acknowledged the mistake and said he would call Uber eats himself to let them know to process the refund. He called me back and said I needed to file a complaint with them and he let them know to refund once I did. I filed the complaint and requested a refund (The meal was $130 so this isn’t a small mistake!) and Uber eats refused to refund even a portion regardless of what the restaurant said and the missing food. They sent me a string of emails so they know the whole situation and refused to take care of anything. I’ve wasted so much time trying to get my money back. It’s been 3 weeks and nothing. If I had not used them and just ordered take out or delivery through the restaurant I would have had a refund the next day! Skip this shady middle man at all costs. What a huge waste of money and time.

I don’t usually leave bad reviews but consumers are the only real protections against bad business ethics. Unereats It’s not worth it. Fees are crazy and pricing is inflated. Uber is a vulture to the restaurants that participate as well. Take the walk, drive, it will be cheaper and much more beneficial to you and your community. I have the poor habit of not cooking and the spare cash to justify it. So ubereats was a easy choice for me. I learned to rely on Uber. The other night I ordered a meal that was inedible. The food turned my stomach after a few bites. I contact customer service and they were unwilling to refund me for the food. After many many dozens, maybe hundreds of orders and very little hassle from me, Uber leaves me out to dry. If I was at the restaurant I wouldn’t have accepted being served the food I was given yesterday.

They have so many quality issues, and I understand this can be the restaurant’s fault but Uber does nothing to help the situation. I’ve had multiple issues over the years and my order earlier this week and last night are the only times I’ve complained, simply because I’m tired of paying for incorrect meals and missing items. After last night, I will be taking my business to Postmates. When I contacted Uber customer service via app chat, I was ignored until this morning, and all they did was thank me for the feedback. Their FB social care team was ever worse - they said they wanted to help and then proceeded to ignore me. I’ll be doing a charge back with my card and filing a complaint with the BBB. I encourage anyone who has had these same issues also do charge backs and contact the BBB.
