Uber Avoids Refunding Overcharge

Let me just start by saying they have a really bad customer service method going on.. They don’t have a call center so you have to go through their app. You’ll have to deal with multiple reps who happens to see your comments... so you start the chat James he asks you for more information you give the information now your talking with Jane asking for more information so you give that, then your talking with someone else who gives you (what appears to be) a pick from the list response that has nothing to do with your problem. And there done with you. It’s not like amazon where you’re talking with ONE rep who’s actually investigating what went wrong. So I had few of these frustrating incidents but this time it made me really upset. I recently was charged $5.54 more than the invoice so I reached out. I was asked to provide additional information of the transaction so I gave; then was asked to provide the invoice I’m looking at so I have; then was asked to provide them with my bank’s screenshot on the transaction so I have, then got a response “Because this trip was requested from a device signed into your account...” and that “unauthorized trip request happens” so “in the meantime change your password”. WHAT KIND OF RESPONSE IS THAT?! When did I say I haven’t place the order?! I have ordered but Uber overcharged me so just give me back the difference. Was my question that hard?! Not to mention every response were from a different person... no wonder by the 5th rep they don’t know what the issue is... I asked back the question and I’m asked to provide them additional information (of course by another rep) of what I already gave in the very beginning. I told them I’ve already gave this information then they went silent... No response... REALLY?!?!?! I feel this is stealing money. Incorrect charges can happen but NOT KNOWING how to address this is NOT OKAY!!! This is not the first time this over charge happened however in the past it was only off by few cents so I let them get away. If I weren’t a bookkeeper this could’ve easily been missed... This is really NOT OKAY!
Hides orders until it’s too late to cancel

The app said that the order cannot be processed, I tried it again and it said it cannot be processed for the second time. Then I re-did the order and it went through. Only one order showed up but two minutes later a notification says that my order is being prepared, when I open the app I Noticed that it was under past orders not on the other tab. I checked the other tab and my recent order was still waiting to be approved. I right away canceled the first order and it just said that my order was canceled. Turns out that the order that could not be processed went through without sending a notification that it was accepted. Although I canceled it as soon as it reappeared in my phone- the 5 minute grace period had ended. Instead of getting a notification or an email Uber decided its best to not let me know that I would not be getting my money back. I tried to explain this to them through the live chat in the app but they kept sending me the same message that “5 minutes had passed and order was already being made”. One Representative even went as far as to send me an email of another order I’ve made in the past that I canceled and never received my money back(first time I see it) to try to show me that this is the same as before which it was, because that order also said that it cannot be processed but then later it got processed. I know this because the app shows that I made the exact same order minutes after the first one. I’ve been asking them if the reason why they don’t give me the money back is because they paid the restaurant, which in that case is out of their hands, or if they keep the money since the restaurant never gives the food out-but they don’t want to answer instead they sent the same message saying ”this is not the experience he want you to have”

The hypocrisy just between THESE two paragraphs is so blatant!!!! Do you even hear yourselves ???? • We are committed to creating a community that treats everyone equally and with dignity. We do not tolerate discrimination, harrassment or racism on our platform, as outlined in our Community Guidelines. We will hold everyone who uses Uber accountable to these standards of basic respect and human decency. I respectfully ask anyone not willing to abide by these rules to delete Uber. • We are committed to supporting the Black community. As a starting point, we will use Uber Eats to promote Black-owned restaurants while making it easier for you to support them, with no delivery fees for the remainder of the year. And in the coming weeks, we will offer discounted rides to Black-owned small businesses, who have been hit hard by COVID-19, to help in their recovery. This in and of itself is hypocritical. You profess to treat everyone equally, yet you don’t offer anything to any other race owned small businesses that have also been hit hard by Covid-19. Uber eats you are Hypocites and I will NEVER do business with you now or in the future.
Poor customer service

I recently made a purchase through Uber Eats which I have done a lot during this quarantine and before. I also made the purchase from Sesame Donuts which I have done multiple times and is always the SAME order. For some reason last night when I made the SAME order as I’ve done multiple times the company decided to tell me because the donuts I ordered were fancy donuts THEY decided to PICK random donuts for me instead of NOT accepting my order and CANCELING my order like a good business would have done. But no, they gave me other donuts(which we threw away because they were not donuts we wanted nor asked for in the app). So what do I do, I reach out to Uber eats telling them what happened and sent pictures and what was their response? This, “ Hi , I completely understand that the order you received from Sesame Donuts (Hillsboro) did not meet your expectations. Let me assist you with this. Though compensations are not yet possible, no worries because I've also made a note with Sesame Donuts (Hillsboro) about this issue

And I’m still nowhere, being ignored and treated like garbage instead of a customer. There’s no phone number for me to call so I’m stuck trying to get someone to respond to me. I’ve tried twitter and gotten a response as I’m typing this asking for more information so we’ll see what happens there. There’s just no recourse with this company and it’s pretty infuriating. My order was basically inedible and they told me I couldn’t have a refund or credit. I asked why and that’s when they started trying to close the ticket without response. Don’t use this service. They will not treat you right and you will not ever get to know why. Edit: Thank you developer. I am currently waiting on the Uber support twitter account to email me but let me know what information I can give you because I’d like this resolved as quickly as possible. The order was $60 and most of it was inedible so that’s a lot of money just wasted.
Dubious anti-discrimination policy

Good for you in trying to help out black-owned restaurants with your new Uber Eats strategy. Just hope you did an analysis to ensure that racists and those with unconscious biases will not avoid these restaurants you have identified and cause more harm than good. Not that these businesses would want business from racists, but those with unconscious bias is the bigger concern. I also hope that you have sought permission from these restaurants to post the data. Hopefully your strategy wins business for the black community and doesn’t harm it. Also, in the spirit of being anti-discriminatory, you should consider offering the same benefits to Asian and Latino owned restaurants so as not to give the benefits to one race - lest you fall victim of hypocritically contradicting your anti-discrimination policy. I can’t give any more stars until I know the above has been satisfied. Stay strong, Uber! Respect!
Sent wrong address

I used the app once a year ago when I was at work and then decided I would use it today since I didn’t feel like going out because it was raining. I ordered my food but forgot to change the address on the app. When I made the order there was no prompt to make sure the address was correct or any summary (that I remember) that showed the address. The food was sent to my job which I realized only after the driver sent a picture and the the order was marked as complete. I had no way of contacting them to explain the mistake. I tried to explain it on the app but I just received messages from a bot or a person pretending to be a bot telling me a refund would not be possible. This is a poor design for the app, Amazon and most other apps that send things to your home always check the address. I hope they update their design so mistakes like these don’t happen or happen less.

Ive always had issues with how Uber treats it’s employees. Re downloaded in light of the quarantine to get access to a few other restaurants. Had a very mild issue where I just put in the wrong rating and wanted to change it so the driver wasn’t given a bad review because of me, when he did nothing wrong. Almost impossible to talk to any support- sent multiple messages to the HELP tag and got one response that didn’t even relate to what I had said. Tried to respond & kept getting “Rate Your Support” texts. But it wouldn’t even let me do that! Thankfully I was able to change my drivers tip to a bigger one. This app is NOT user friendly. Any time I’ve had issues with grubhub, it’s resolved so easily & I get direct contact with someone. This is abysmal. Deleting the app, back to better ones.
Treated extremely unfairly

I have been using uber eats as I receive credits from my Amex platinum card. Usually the service is good. However a few times the order had been completely unacceptable and today I was sent a RAW uncooked burger from Zuma which is a very high end restaurant in Boston. I sent them a photo clearly showing the burger raw and they replied saying they would take it into consideration but that they would not refund me as they have refunded me for other orders in the past - which always is because of THEIR fault - I have always sent photographic evidence and they refunded me out of their choice. They essentially called me a liar. Needless to say I have deleted my account with them reported them to Amex and will not be using them again.

I’m so tired of Uber eats crappy customer service and my orders being dated and arriving cold because they send drivers to pick up food ordered after mine first . I’m tired of never getting refunded for messed up or dossappeared deliveries . I wish I could give zero stars deleting the app and sticking with Grubhub they’re so much better . Uber eats is impossible to contact or get help from forget it . Update : thanks for the automated response About contacting you to talk about the experience but A:) there is no actual person to speak to B) I freaking have talked to you. I am frequently told your drivers are independent and you can’t do anything lol. There is no way to hold drivers accountable I have been told .
