Adding cards & accounts
Lostell on 2020-04-10
It's simple enough to send and request money. However, we've gone through troubles with the app similar to those who've left reviews within a 2-4month time period of ours. Biggest pet peeve is not being able to seamlessly add cards and be able to use them right away or them not showing up at all as available options for use, but yet when you check to see if theyve been added via your home screen there they are. It's been a pain to send money when certain accounts can't be added or won't be recognized for reasons unbeknownst to us. If Venmo isn't compatible (for lack of better words) with other banks itd be great if they'd have a list of "hey we're not in partnership with these associations." We prefer this to PayPal but it's definitely made for a few awkward $$ transactions when you meet someone to purchase an item from FB Marketplace (for example) and Venmo doesn't let you use the card you've added so you need to awkwardly excuse yourself so you can withdraw money from a gas station ATM...
You’ve been sharing my payment history??!!
matata1231 on 2020-04-10
I can’t believe you people sharing something as private as what I paid for and who I paid!! Do you understand how you are crossing lines you don’t even realize you’re crossing (obviously, or else, you don’t care; probably that)? I was absolutely shocked when I saw others’ payments and then mine shared to the “public”!? You have absolutely no right; maybe legally (you’ve covered yourselves) but not ethically, not morally. It is not right that we must go online to press not to. It should be the other way around. ASK clearly and in clear, normal font if we’d be alright with that and I guarantee 99% of people won’t accept it. But you do it the other way around. You sneakily pit it in the “small” print somewhere. Very wrong.
Great for sending money but..
brittanykristen on 2020-04-10
I’d said the only reason I’m taking away 2 stars is because it makes me uncomfortable that Venmo has a public or friend feed showing others transactions. We should be able to hide it completely and only see transactions personally to us. Why on earth would I want to see someone I don’t know pay someone else I don’t know for an avocado? Or a friend pay someone I don’t know for drinks? Is there a benefit here? Please make a feature available to hide these feeds! Payments don’t need a social feature.
Need a minus 0 star!

I had the most awful time just signing up for Venmo. The site is very difficult to maneuver around...instructions for sign up are misleading. Had no idea that when you generate a password for Venmo your Pay Pal account password changes also.....very confusing. When I could not sign into my Pay Pal account this morning there was some weird password needed that changed from the night before..argh! I finally gave up and deleted Venmo. Not sure what Pay Pal was thinking with this app!
Unable to make large payment transfers
SynonymOfMad on 2020-04-10
Sadly I have never had an issue with Venmo until now. During this difficult time with the virus I have had to change my method of payment with Venmo, utilizing it more. It took a total of 8 days just make 1 complete money transfer to another colleague over 3 separate transactions, adding more % into to each individual transaction due to me HAVING to use a credit card. Their help line was very helpful, but I am now out more money due to this. Very disappointed.
Won’t let me pay anyone
bluchic on 2020-04-10
App help person has told me I don’t meet their “risk” parameters and therefore the app won’t let me pay anyone. Even though I’m not a risk. Disappointing customer service is the primary reason for my rating. They refuse to even look into why I was disqualified. Just said it’s an algorithm they have no control over, even when it has an error. Horrible.
Not secure
wont take my nickname! on 2020-04-10
Very bad that people are identified in history for the persons doing transactions -with their photos Also, not happy that I had to give up account info. But I understand that it’s a requirement-but transaction history and photos are not what I signed in for. Will be closing account and use Apple Pay-much more secure.
Poorly designed and buggy
cap mike on 2020-04-10
Venmo does not ever work right and customer service is weak. Venmo customer service blames you, your phone, Apple or your carrier for its malfunction rather than take responsibility for the problem. I am deleting this dog and going back to writing checks. And happily so.
Amazing, simple but useful app!!
Anthony Maffei on 2020-04-10
I just downloaded this app and I can’t tell you how satisfied I am that finally someone made it so simple to make payments between each other versus driving and having to meet someone. This is definitely the way of the future and I think Venmo is leading the space!
Terrible app
boosheit on 2020-04-10
I have had to keep recreating accounts because after 1-2 uses they consistently freeze my account. No one ever responds and it is never an easy process for me to get my money off of here. Terrible money transfer service. I don’t recommend one bit!
