Despite some of the bad reviews that I’ve read, I actually have had nothing but great experiences with Venmo! I started my account to only use it to send rent money to my landlord but then I said to myself let me try the debit card out, which is also awesome! I literally had no money to eat on at work for lunch and payday was one day away so I swiped my Venmo debit card just to see if it would work & it did! I looked in the app, so basically Venmo will take from your bank account in inclements of $10 even if your bank doesn’t have any money in it, which I love! But do not take a risk on it if you do not plan on getting paid within a day because then the money will be charged from you bank (WITH NO FEE best of all!) but if you don’t put the money to cover what Venmo took from your bank with in the next day then your bank will charge you fees of course, but I got paid that Thursday so my direct deposit hit before Venmo took it! So it was Perfect thank god I had “a borrow” in a since to get my lunch! Then paid back the before the money charged my bank account (paid for the items Tuesday night, then Venmo took the money out of my bank Thursday) and (Knock on wood) I haven’t had any problems such as other reviewers on here! Thank God! Venmo is really great Believe it or not & I genuinely haven’t seen any fees what so ever like most prepaid cards/apps
This is practically illegal what Venmo has done with my account. There was a transaction that was accidentally build it to the wrong bank account which has been closed for a number of years. Instead of giving me a chance to rectify the situation by it using a debit card which would’ve fixed it instantly they automatically charged it to a different bank account. They told me this would take 3 to 5 business days and they froze my account. They also deducted any of the balance from payments that didn’t come in to my account so they had basically taken $15 out of my account without my approval which was fine. But then when I was paid more instead of taking that money to finish the outstanding balance and bring in my account to zero they put my account on hold so now for over a week I haven’t been able to use my Venmo even though I have over $100 more than what they’re saying I owe them andMy account still frozen I have paid them from my bank account and there’s enough money to cover nobody will do anything and it’s the first of the month I’m just trying to pay bills and use the service which has become a part of everybody’s daily life. I can’t speak to anybody on the phone and when they email me they basically told me just to wait. It says my account would be done being on hold on the first it is now almost a third what is going on Venmo
If i could give this app negative reviews i would! For starters, i was scammed and when on venmo support originally, they informed me that they can easily reimburse those fund back to my bank account. Then i get a email stating that since the account won’t allow the money to go back in to my account, they can’t do anything about it. I lost low 4 figures. Venmo customer service brings you in circles. You cannot get in contact with a account specialist because it’s all done by email. Yea email, great way to communicate.. sike. They treat you like absolute dirt. No protection for you what so ever against scammers. I only redownloaded this app just to leave a horrible review. I will not use this app ever again or unless they change their policies. If a app is based on mobile transfers doesn’t have protection against scams and fraud, THEY SHOULD NOT BE A WORKING/ RUNNING APP. Do not waste your time with venmo.
Slack customer service, my account has been froze for about 2 months now and I have done everything they asked me to do and sent any information they wanted. I’ve called numerous times and they say they can’t help but they would get a supervisor to return my call and they still haven’t returned any calls or even tried to explain to me why my account has been frozen for 2 months or what to do to get my account unfroze so I can get my money. I am so disappointed and I feel like that is their way of keeping my money and it’s not right nor is it professional. If you use Venmo be careful so it’s not done to you too. They don’t need to continue to do business this way and they need to do something so I can get my money back!
they took money out of my account to pay for venmos, which is obvi fine, but then my account has been frozen for literally almost a week. the money came out of my account the 24th, they said it would clear through them the 1st, which is ridiculous it takes from the 24th when it CLEARED my bank to the 1st for them to “approve it”. you got the money so why is my account frozen STILL? i called and they said “we just need more time” for WHAT? you took the money out of my account, so i’m confused how there’s an issue? how hard is it to see that you have the money and unfreeze my account?
If you try to use it too much they block your payments… Even though you’re pulling money from your own bank account. Who knows win the lock comes off and when you contact tech-support they can’t tell you anything… So I guess you just have to sit around waiting for the app to be unlocked again. Do you think that they want you to spend as much money through the app as possible.
This is totally a consumer grade application and not suitable for anyone here has a business or is running any amount of transactions through it
Has no confirmation when you send payments and does not include very recent payments in the payment history, so you don’t know if a payment has been processed in real time. This can lead to inadvertent double payments—think of an email that doesn’t automatically go to your “sent” folder or disappear from your screen after you click “send.”
Have to navigate around annoying “special offers.”
On the plus side, if you have a nonurgent need to transfer money, Venmo is an easy way to do so.
The first time someone sent me money it worked fine let me instant cash out to my bank card, but after they sent me the Venmo debit card someone sent me money and it kept locking my acct and I would have to chat with customer service (which took over an hour every time on hold) they would unlock the acct and I could use it for a couple hours and then locked again. It took me 3 days and several hours on hold to finally get my money. I will never use them again. Please beware!!
Venmo does not use funds in your account to pay back others. At first you think oh I have $110 in my account they will just subtract the difference from my $125 transfer. Nope. Then you think oh maybe because it was more than what’s in my account.. you try $100....,and they still take out $100 out of checking. Here’s an idea go with CashApp. They subtract your balance at least. Now I have to figure out how to get my balance deposited into my checking
Would have given you a 5 star rating - come to think of it probably should have been a 3 star. This is SO EASY for me to send money but had someone try to send me money and it got flagged for security reasons. Spent too looooong on phone trying figure out the problem. Cust Svce said they had no way of telling me anything and never would send me to tech group because they would have no answers either.
