First of all this in Northwest Ohio is worthless. The app freezes in the favorites portion. Sometimes the items appear to be in stock but won't load into the cart. So I don't know if they are really out of stock or not. I have not been able to get any toliet paper or paper towels for a month or more. The canned peas and green beans in the great value brand are never in stock. You can't get any kind of bleach, canned rolls like pillsbury or any kind.. today I ordered strawberry and a peach jam in great value and they refused to substitute and when questioned they said they had none. These are only some of the issues. I'm retired so I have time to check this daily and nothing is in stock. They have no fresh or frozen chicken breasts and have not had for weeks, no chicken tenders, no Colby cheese. I ordered great value ground pepper and they said there was none- no substitute either. I am extremely disappointed in the app and the store pick up. I've written to the corporate office and they do not address any of the concerns-/ just blow my off and I've written several times. I'm disabled and diabetic, the government wants us to utilize pick up options but how can we when there is very little to get???
What’s the point of an app that takes up considerably more time than just going into the store to pick up the things on your list, including the things the app says are unavailable? I stopped using it shortly after it first became available, because they would make mistakes in my order and then block me from getting the items associated with THEIR mistake on my next order.
I tried it again today, thinking it might have had time to develop and that it could be a way to keep my distance during the virus crisis, but I ended up having to stop at Hannaford anyway when they canceled some of my items at the last minute. Then the app wouldn’t even let me follow its own directions when it came time to check in. I ended up having to call the store after the app led me in circles a few times. This app took me at least 4 times longer to get my groceries than going into the store and actually get everything on my list... and I still had to go into a store. Fortunately, Hannaford was nearby.
For an app that claims to make grocery shopping at Walmart more convenient... well let’s just say “convenience” isn’t the 4-letter word I’d use to describe it. The one thing this app accomplished was to give me a stronger appreciation for Hannaford.
I have been using Walmart grocery pickup for about a year now. I would brag about about it and had absolutely no issues. Made my life a lot easier and the people were always super friendly. I realize with everything going on right now that a whole lot more people have been using this option, Rather than going into the store to shop and rightfully so. And it has been more difficult getting pickup times, again understandable. But what is not understandable is waking up early and going to three different Walmart locations on the app and finally getting one that has pickups still available, for the next day after 4 pm, selecting the earliest time slot, and then getting a notice two hours before the pickup time that my order was canceled! They were so backed back that they would not be able to get to the remainder of the orders. When I asked when my order would be available they said I would have to try again to place the order first thing the next morning. They could not bump anyone from the next day. Blamed it on their system and corporate communications. They said they may have to do it again to the later pickups the next day too....ARE YOU FOR REAL WALMART?!!!!! Great way to piss people off! Very disappointing!
When on an iPad using any browser, when going to the normal Walmart.com site and then click on their Grocery link, it automatically *forces* users to download the Walmart iOS app and use it, there’s no way to use the grocery part through their site.
Huge Problem: The iOS app is *only* for iPhone, on iPad, it opens only in portrait mode, the keyboard rarely shows up (so the only way to type in there is to type in another app, copy it, and paste it in this app. Very ridiculous.
Walmart is obviously a ridiculously-HUGE company. They don’t have a tiny bit of money to make/convert their iPhone app so that it can work on iPad? Seriously, please update this app and make it work - including landscape mode.
If you’re an iPad user, don’t even bother to try ordering from Walmart grocery. Pick another retailer that actually has a working iPad compatible app, or at least that their website doesn’t *force* users to *only* use their app, even though it doesn’t even support the device you’re on (Yes Walmart, I’m looking at you - this is beyond ridiculous).
I have used this app many times and I like a lot of the features it has. There are a lot of things I don’t like, however. It is very hard to navigate and find the right things that you’re looking for. I will type in something and get 1 or 2 items that are similar to what I want then I have to scroll past 30 random things (that make no sense based on what I typed in) just to get to the bottom and find that they don’t even have what I want listed on the app.
I can get on the Walmart website and find the things I need, but there is no way I have found to order from the site itself. It redirects me to this app and I can’t get half of the things I’m looking for because they simply don’t show up. Now I’m forced to go into the store when I’m supposed to be staying away from people due to the current situation, all because I can’t find pork chops, the right kind of steak, and many other things.
A corporation this big and rich should be expected to have a functioning app considering it is 2020 and the app has been out for a long time now.
I have used this app twice in the past year. The app did what it was supposed to--except for letting me actually get a reserved time. If no time is available for 2 days, why can't I reserve on the 3rd day? I think it did have a longer timeline the first time I ordered. Walmart, are you waiting to see if anyone comes in? This problem precedes the virus. I am a senior at risk, and I will be going to Publix when I run out of food. Thanks for nothing, Walmart. Thanks for making my choice between dying of the virus, or dying from hunger. Kudos for your caring. By the way, the lady who brought me curbside service was fine, the food was well selected. But your employees need virus protection. At the least, gloves and a mask.
Not being able to reserve time (this is my 4th day of trying) is an insult to your customers. For some of us, your disregard could be fatal. You might have more people willing to work if they had decent protection.
First time using the app. Almost not learning curve, with the exception of two issues I feel can be easily remedied. First, I love that you can add items to your Pickup order after having placed it but what the app should let you do is decide on which items you will accept a substitute FOR. It asks you initially when first placing the order but never again. If I add an item, let me decide if I want to allow subs for that item. Secondly, when arriving at the parking spot to pickup order, app asks you your spot # and car color (even has an option for walk-ups - no car) but after selecting each of these, it doesn’t have a ‘done’ button. You have to hit the Close link button to get out of that screen. There should be a button that let’s you declare you’ve made your selections and are done with that step. Otherwise, haven’t run into any major issues. Great job, design team.
p.s. would be cool to be able to zoom on pictures
In spite of the fact that the pick up crew knew I was there I didn’t get my groceries for an hour. The app indicates an unmarked space which I clicked on because we couldn’t find a numbered space. No one in the delivery area bothered to let us know we couldn’t get our groceries unless we were in a numbered spot. I finally had to go to the door and demand to speak to a manager. When we finally got our groceries they still didn’t have everything we ordered. The only up side was the young men who finally got them to our car were very polite. As a first time user of this service I am very disappointed. The app needs fixing in another way. My original order was for $179. Each time I hit “PLACE THE ORDER “ there was ONE item unavailable. This went on until my order was down to $38. Just tell me all the unavailable items at once. DON’T WASTE MY TIME.
I cannot use this app on my iPad except to contact the store to pick up my groceries. All the food items and categories overlap on the app so I can't see anything to place an order. Also, with the app installed, the website won't let me order. It automatically switches from the website to the app when I try to place an order. So the only way I can place and get an order is to delete the app, order via the website, then reinstall the app so I can notify the store that I'm on my way when the order is ready. As soon as I have picked up the order, I have to delete the app from my iPad again or I can't place another order. (Maybe it has to do with the fact that I am old and have my font on the largest size so I can read what's on my iPad?) But regardless of the reason, this whole process stinks.
Absolutely terrible service. I ordered for delivery 2 days out, when it was hard enough to even get a time slot. The day of, they never show up. I call the support number and I’m told that my order is still at the store, 2 hours after my delivery time. I’m put on hold so they can check to see what’s going on, and I’m later told that they couldn’t get anyone at the Madison, MS Walmart to answer. I’m told that someone will contact me in the next hour to give me an update. An hour and a half later I check my app to see that my order has been canceled. No phone call. No explanation. I’m now almost out of groceries and under a Shelter in Place order by my state that started today at 5. The whole point was to not have to go to the store. That is unacceptable service.
