A VPN that works, but will make you lose your mind in the meantime

The experience with this VPN isn’t good, for the reasons I will list below:
1. The VPN disconnects very regularly; and by “very regularly”, I mean every 30 seconds. Every. 30. Seconds.
2. When the VPN disconnects (which as I said it very regularly does), you HAVE to go through the app to reconnect it; you can’t do it through Settings. Why?!
3. The app is somewhat supported through Slide-over, Split-view and Stage Manager on iPad, but other than the ON/OFF button, everything else is just left out of the screen; the close button when you connect/disconnect it, the “your VPN session has ended” card, the advanced features, and sometimes the protocol button is covered up by something else at the bottom. It seems like a simple issue, but it’s super annoying.
4. The issue of the VPN constantly disconnecting and reconnecting itself and the Wi-Fi still persists on most protocols to this day, it’s just not on all of them anymore.
5. When the protocol is on “Auto”, sometimes it errors out and tells me to change protocols. No, X-VPN, YOU change the protocol.
6. When I manually choose a protocol, it still, somehow, changes the protocol like if it WAS on Auto, even though I know that that specific protocol works because I go and change it back to that one. Again, wrong choice X-VPN; I chose that protocol, which means you have to stick with it. If it doesn’t work, then tell me.
7. Why do I need to sit and watch the X logo fill up in color every time I open the app (which as I said before is twice a minute)?! That is something which I feel they do on purpose to drive the user crazy since it’s the most unnecessary thing. They don’t even make money off of it ‘cause it doesn’t show any ads in that period.
It’s sad that these obvious issues aren’t fixed, when they should’ve been years ago. It is also worth mentioning I still don’t pay for premium, and I’ve left the original review below:
[ORIGINAL] I’ve used this VPN quite a bit over the last few months. At first it was fine, but after some time, it started having issues. When you first connect, it seems like it’s everything’s fine, but after you like try to load something with it, it constantly disconnects and reconnects the VPN and with the WiFi itself! When it reconnects, it still won’t load anything. I’m using this app on the 11-inch 2018 iPad Pro. And my internet is around 40 mb/s down so none of these are the problem imo. Something to note here is I’m using a version with the ads, I usually don’t pay for premium. December 26th, 2019

There’s a few issues I would like to address. 1st, that if you have two bars of internet or less, it will not connect. It will disconnect and reconnect and etc. It will be on and off, etc. 2nd of all; it disconnects at literally random times, and it’s really annoying. Third issue is, some locations make me loose internet completely and not be able to reach certain apps or websites. Forth issues, it will not let me stay connected to my wifi. I will connect to my wifi but it only stays for a few minutes or even if i just turn my phone off, it will disconnect. Either that or I will connect to my wifi and the VPN will just disconnect. (KEEP IN MIND, WHEN VPN DISCONNECTS, YOU WILL NOT BE INFORMED THROUGH NOTIFICATION, YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE APP TO SEE ITS BEEN DISCONNECTED.) Fifth issues is, it will mess up my internet and will sometimes have to disconnect my vpn then reconnect. Not to mention it doesn’t really support apps like Tiktok and Musi unless on a certain location. Also the adds, the
adds are awful. But I must add, when you first get the app, the adds are not as bad.
Good things:
• the service is great, don’t get me wrong.
• easy to connect to (If you aren’t tortured with a MILLION adds in the process!)
• allows you to over 9+ protocols

Used to be great

This was recommended by a colleague and I used to love this app for the fast connection and how it stayed on quietly in the background without killing my battery. But as of maybe a few months ago, it is hard to use with all the ad pop ups. If you need to turn it on or off quickly you can’t without sitting through a 20 second add and clicking the x then 5 more seconds of an ad, then clicking the x again. Not to mention the ads are LOUD so if you were trying to be discreet or use this at work, keep that in mind as the commercials and games will draw attention from everyone in the room. The only reason I’m taking the time to write this is because I am on the App Store looking for an alternative and will be removing this one from my devices. I hope it improves and works better for whomever is reading this in the future.

It only actually works about half the time and when it doesn’t I end up spending a full minute switching between protocols due to the app’s incredibly long loading animation that plays any time it’s opened no matter if it’s already up or not, but it’s better than nothing.

I downloaded X-VPN before leaving to Iran not knowing if it would work. It didn’t disappoint me. It worked for 30 days straight! I want to thank the developers for creating a vpn that was able to bypass Iran’s blocking access to the world! Please keep up the good work!
Barely works

It works for about 2 weeks and then it says it connected but never actually connects. And when it does work it’s extremely slow. And yes the base version comes with the slower speeds but I’ve gotten better free apps and I don’t really know why I’m not using them.

I used to use some cheap vpn that took so unbelievably long to connect and barely even did anything to help my connection, but this is the COMPLETE opposite, it takes mere seconds to connect and makes my phone so fast I am obsessed with this app.

In multiple occasions I have gotten advertisements of inappropriate things. I have even got an ad of a woman taking off her shirt. I feel ads should be monitored, and the fact this site is a VPN. Unacceptable.

This vpn is the best, not because most of the stuff is free but is connects to the Wi-Fi so easily and has better connection to everything. Honestly this is the best vpn I have ever used👍!
