2026 ASO Report: Keyword trends, visibility benchmarks, and top apps in the US App Store

detail img

Total in-app events by country

Looking at 2025 data across all categories, in-app events are evenly distributed across top markets rather than dominated by a single country. The leading countries all contribute similar volumes, each accounting for roughly 4% of total events. This indicates that in-app events are a global ASO tactic, used consistently across mature app markets.

The countries with the highest number of in-app events in 2025 are;

Region-specific insights

Across all regions, the same structure repeats;

  • “Special Event” is the most used format.
  • “Major Update” is consistently second.
  • Games generate more than half of all events.

The main difference between regions is scale, not strategy.

United States

The United States records 114,526 in-app events, placing it at the top, but only slightly ahead of other leading markets.

More than half of US events (51.8%) come from Games, showing how strongly the category relies on continuous event activity. Other contributing categories, such as Entertainment, Education, Health & Fitness, and Photo & Video, each represent much smaller shares.

In terms of format, the US follows the global pattern closely;

  • Special Event and Major Update together make up over 60% of all events
  • All other event types are used at similar, lower levels.

This suggests a stable and predictable event strategy rather than heavy experimentation.

Europe

Europe is the largest region by total event volume, with over 1.14 million in-app events in 2025. Countries such as the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain all contribute similar volumes, showing balanced adoption across major European markets.

As in the US;

  • Games account for just over half of all events.
  • Entertainment, Education, Health & Fitness, and Photo & Video follow at a distance.

Event type usage mirrors the global average, with Special Event and Major Update clearly leading. This consistency indicates that European developers use in-app events primarily to maintain steady visibility, not just for short-term spikes.

Asia

Asia contributes 883,091 in-app events overall. The highest volumes come from Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, and South Korea, all with similar totals. China appears lower in this dataset compared to other Asian markets.

Category distribution remains familiar.

  • Games generate around 51% of all events.
  • Entertainment, Education, and Health & Fitness form the next tier.

Event types again follow the same pattern, with Special Event and Major Update leading. This shows that even across very different app ecosystems, event strategy remains structurally similar.

Latin America

Latin America records 214,534 total in-app events in 2025, driven almost entirely by Brazil and Mexico, which contribute nearly equal volumes.

As in other regions;

  • Games account for more than half of all events.
  • Other categories play supporting roles.

Event type distribution closely matches the global average, indicating that Latin American developers are applying the same event frameworks as larger markets, just at a smaller scale.

Overall, the 2025 data shows that successful in-app event strategies are consistent across countries and regions. The difference lies not in what developers do, but in how frequently they execute events, especially in Games-heavy markets.
